  1. Hi, So it doesn't mean they are contacting your references (they do that once they have decided to hire you). I am pretty sure it means that they are reviewing all the potential candidates and sending the information to the unit managers. I got the job after waiting like 3 weeks.
  2. HUMANS: These continuous alarms are driving us crazy; do you feel you want to silence, disable or ignore them? ROBOT: The alarms alert me to possible patient complications and it is my responsibility to prevent injury. HUMANS: WOW, robots aren't distracted by the noise and have no emotions. If only we could solve alarm fatigue by having the same outlook.
  3. Ok, thanks for the reply. I just noticed that the job i am applying for has been re-posted for today until September. Do you think they will wait until September to reply to me? or does that mean not many replied and they will most likely want an interview?
  4. Hello, This is the status of my application. Does this mean they are contacting my references? Our recruitment team has reviewed your application and you are being actively considered, along with other candidates, for the position. We will be in contact with you shortly should we wish to interview you. Unfortunately, we cannot accept phone calls about job opportunities.
  5. DO nurses perform similar activities in nursing homes and acute geriatric psychiatry units?
  6. I also recently graduated from nursing school and I am conflicted between taking a job in a LTAC setting or geriatric psychiatry unit. What would nurses with more experience suggest?
  7. I agree with all these study tips
  8. Hello, So I used Kaplan to study for NCLEX 100%, however I also used Saunders for SATA questions. I did all the Kaplan questions without reviewing the rationales. Then, watched all the videos on Kaplan website and took notes on everything stated. Then I used a different color font and read Kaplan RN course while taking notes on everything. Then I re-did all the kaplan questions and read the rationales. Then I reviewed my notes highlighting things. And then took the exam (2 months of studying)..passed 75 questions in 90 minutes
  9. If you don't have the grades to directly get into the nursing program, try the College Now program. I got into that program and within 1 year I was in nursing and now I am an RN!!
  10. 5 years ago I was accepted into the college now program and from there it is easy to get into the nursing program if you work hard for it. Check out umass College now website and see if you qualify
  11. Hello, I transferred into Umass Dartmouth 5 years ago through the college now program. See if you qualify for that program
  12. What textbooks do you need?
  13. What textbooks does this school require?
  14. Thank you to everyone who replied. So, I am calling around different hospitals in the area I live. All the hospitals say they don't allow shadowing in the OR. Any suggestions about how I should go about getting this opportunity?
  15. I have plenty of time available. I am unsure of the amount of time I would like to shadow. What amount of time do you think would provide me with a basic understanding of the nurses role in the OR?
