Male nurse here, and I completely disagree. I love this career, and can't see myself doing much else. I enjoy the responsibility and satisfaction of helping people. Every job has downsides, and maybe this one has too many for you. But I don't think y...

While most on here are saying the money wouldn't help, I'm going to disagree. I think a few more dollars/hr would make some of the crap seem more bearable. But I'm not burnt out yet or anything, and I'm young and eager to save up for a house and star...
I'm a stickler for restraints. I've only been on the unit 15 months, but I've never had a self extubation...and don't plan on one anytime soon. I don't care if my pt is sedated, unresponsive, or fully cooperative. Bilat wrist restraints are in place,...
one try, 75 questions. I was nervous when that last question came up, because I didn't want to have to stay any longer than that. But all was good in the end

My personal take...just be honest. Tell the patient you don't subscribe to their particular religion/beliefs. And it depends on what they're asking, too. If they want you to pray in front of them or with them, a polite decline or offer for a chaplain...
I found out about the profession while shadowing a nurse in an OR. Shadowing the nurse was supposed to help me decide if I wanted to pursue a career in nursing, but I spent the majority of the time talking with the CRNA...and that's what convinced me...
and1ccrn, I too am looking to attend the UNCC/CMC program starting fall 2015. I'm actually tidying up my application now. Would you be willing to talk about the program via PM/email?
