Yes nurses Rock but.. You have to admit that there are those nurses who also STINK! Yup I know what your thinking but I have been in this profession for many years and all I hear are complaints from nurses from school to the work place out in public.. so why are you a Nurse then? Nurses cry about almost everything! They can be very rude at times but yet they walk around with a WE ROCK MENTALITY! *NOT ALL BUT LOTS* if we rock and are such team players why are we like this. We give STNA'S HELL, and they work sooo hard bless their hearts...We cry in offices where MA's are performing our job but getting paid less (which I don't get) , RN's and LPN's fight over who's better and who's not. I remember when nurses were TEAM PLAYERS, They went above and beyond on their jobs, they helped people get better and not rip their scalp off because they dont carry title.. I just wish there were more real old school nurses than what we have now. AGAIN NOT ALL NURSES ACT THIS WAY BUT A GOOD HANDFUL SPOIL IT FOR THE GOOD ONES. #JustBeingReal

I don't see what the big deal is. I was trained as a MA in a 12 month program in Michigan and I find that my LPN school now has is almost not quite but pretty close the same training I got as a MA years ago. Idk who told you that MA's jobs consist mainly of administrative duties because in school we learned way more back office (clinical) experience then that of administrative. Having a MA in a office is like having a nurse with adminstrative skills and not having to pay them as nearly as much money as a LPN I Know several MAs who seem to be brighter as far as skills than most RN'S I suggest you stop crying and work as a team there are other things you can do to make yourself stand out besides crying over titles and trust me you won't win this one doctors rarely like to give up their MAs that they have worked with because they are way to impatient to retrain people.. and they like people that have been with them and know how they do things. So I suggest you just do your job and work together. Crying over titles is so childish!

I'm definitely with this. You didn't work your butt off in school to be treated like trash. Don't even waist your time! I would have told him no less than 25$ /hr and told him to think about it over the weekend! Point blank! No negotiations needed.

I totally understand. I've been doing this for a long time so I can empathize with you. One thing I can share with you about how I deal with this is something you've probaby heard over and over again and if you haven't trust me you will hear it again. That is... "Don't take it personal" it sounds corny but its the best skill you will learn when not just dealing with patients but society as a whole. I don't get my panties all twisted in a knot over non sense. Once you've mastered this skill I promise you all the weight of headache stress will shred to pieces. Try it! GOOD LUCK!

Good Luck!! I am not currently a single parent but have been in your shoes... I worked at a animal shelter cleaning cat and dog poop 20 hours a week took care of my then 3 year old daughter and went to a community college for my PN. (Without any support/just me and my baby.. my parents died when I was 18 so I had no one..but if I did it you can do it!) I am now going back to nursing school my daughter is 10 now and I have a son who is currently 5 yrs. Old. I am also a newly wed. (1yr. 4mos. In counting) I often wonder how I will juggle my family life now that my responsibilities have trippled!! I start school in exactly 3 weeks from to today. Idk how and idc but I know it has to be done with God all things are possible!!! Keep your dreams alive WE GOT THIS!!

H to the NO!! Never saw such thing in my 7 years as a nursing assistant. If I did I would probably pop a blood vessel in both eyes! Great Doctor! He deserves a award BIG TIME!!

Hello everyone! :) I can not tell you enough how excited I am to begin this new journey as a nurse! Those of you who don't already know me here is a little background information. I am currently a STNA (6 Yrs.), A mother of 2 ( boy and girl 5 & 10 yrs. Old), and a newly wed. (1yr 4mos). I will be attending a LPN program this yr. (Sep. 29, 2014) here in Central Ohio. The program is a 12 month certification program, which will allow me to take the NCLEX-PN upon completion. My orientation is coming up and I am getting some type of anxiety! (I know it's horrible! ) So many emotions not knowing what to expect. In the coming three weeks I will be at home preparing as much as possible for the next; perhaps, most important 12 months of my life! Is there anyone who has already been through my experience. I am so impatient ..my school has not told us much of what is needed or how we can get in position for class. perhaps this is what we will go over in orientation but I can not wait that long. . It's bugging me.. I am hoping someone can shed some light on my current curiosity.. What can I expect on orientation day? What supplies can I buy now for school (besides books needed of course)? Is there anything I can get that will make my life easier as a PN student?Please share your experience? Thanks!

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can get scrubs that fit? I am a 5'11 women, and I wear a size 18. I can never find scrubs that fit properly. The ones that I do manage to find are almost always too short (floods), or too large in the crotch area. Please Help!!!

I fainted once at my new 3rd shift job. I got extremely sleepy so I thought I'd take a walk through the halls.. and like that my body shut down and I fell asleep walking! I was definitely embarrassed...

In my opinion NO! If your able to perform your job without accommodation, then what do they need to know that for? I don't think that's their buisness.

Good Evening Everyone! Just a little about myself... I am a State Tested Nursing Assistant in the central Ohio area (Columbus) I am new to the site but am excited to announce that I will be starting LPN School this fall!! (9/29/2013) I can not say it enough.. GOD IS GOOD! I've been in the healthcare setting for my entire career starting as a Dietary Aide in 2002 in a LTC Facility in 2004 I moved to Flint Michigan and worked in a small pediatric office as a CMA (which I must say I absolutely HATED!!!! Not my Job but that city was horrible!!! I actually loved the job) in 2007 I moved back home to Alabama and worked as a PA in a small (5bed) ICU in a community hospital in Tallasse, Alabama.. (Loved it!) It's been a looong time coming.. I am now back in Columbus and will be starting at Columbus School Of Nursing a 12 month PN program after I finish my classes I will be eligible to take my boards I AM SO EXCITED AND NERVOUS!! I Wanted to know if there is anyone else here that will be and/or has ever went to this school?? If so what can I expect? How are the instructors? Is this school a good school? What if anything can I prepare for now while I wait (since school wont start until another month for me) ? Should I get a headstart on supplies? ? Any information will be appreciate! please elaborate!
