  1. I found the HESI exam very similar to the review book by Elsevier. Just make sure you know how to solve all the problems in the math section.
  2. I believe you have a chance of getting in with B's. A friend of mine was just accepted to SACs program for the fall and I'm pretty sure she had all B's.
  3. I definitely know how you feel. I enjoyed clinical last semester. I'm just beginning to get the hang of things this semester and it's about to be over is a couple weeks!
  4. I totally missed the divided dose part.
  5. I am also a UC and work on a med/surg floor. Like any job you have your good days and extremely busy days, just make sure you are able to multitask. I just completed my 1st semester of nursing school and I can honestly say that working in the hospital has helped me immensely.
  6. That's great!!!!
  7. I'm also in my first semester of nursing school. The textbook we are using is Fundamentals of Nursing by Lippincott and we also had to take quizzes online through coursepoint. I find the quizzes really helpful because they are in NCLEX format and they help you get the gist of answering nursing questions. It's was also a good review for our test. I found some of the test questions similar to the quiz questions on coursepoint.
  8. Tomorrow will be the end of week 3 for me. So far we have had 2 skill check offs and a dosage Calc exam. Today was our first real clinical day and tomorrow will be our first time doing a real head to toe assessment on our patient. Next week we have a test and will be checked off on medication administration. I knew nursing school was gonna be tough but I didn't expect it to be like this. My first week I had a mini melt down, I think I was just overwhelmed and scared about the whole thing. We are learning so much so fast but I'm getting through it. It's great to know that I'm not alone in this journey!
  9. Today was my first day and I am feeling overwhelmed and it's only the beginning. We are learning physical assessment right now and have a dosage Calc exam and a skills check off later this week.
  10. I will be attending Austin Community College. Which school did you decide to attend?
  11. Try New Mexico Junior College or Clovis Community College. Both offer an online micro course with lab and the price is reasonable.
  12. You should look into New Mexico Junior College or Clovis Community College, they both offer Microbiology lecture and lab online and the out of district/state cost isn't bad at all (under $400).
  13. Are you wanting information on Austin Community College or are you inquiring about another ACC (there are many). If you are asking about AustinCC or AlvinCC I can give you more info.
  14. I don't think they like for members to post the name of professors. If you like you can private message me and I'll be happy to answer your questions. If you can't private message me just go the the NMJC website and under course schedule click on micro and it will tell you everything you need to know regarding the textbook and lab manual. The professors initials are J.F. Hope this helps. She is a stickler on what she wants but as long as you follow her instructions you will do well.
  15. "Dimensional Analysis for Meds" by Anna M. Curren is a good one to use when practicing math conversions. The newer edition is a bit pricey so I would suggest purchasing an older edition.
  16. I start my ADN program in the fall. We have our orientation on the 20th of August. I'm extremely nervous and excited about starting this journey. It's good to know there are others taking this journey with me!
  17. You'll do fine! Just follow her directions exactly and there is no reason you shouldn't pass with an A. She is also very quick to respond to emails. Also if you live in a different time zone pay attention to the due dates/times.
  18. Every week you have assigned readings, labs and discussions that are due. You are allowed to work ahead especially on the discussions. She is a stickler for APA format and citing your work even the assigned textbook and lab manual. Make sure at the beginning of every week you review the weekly assignments because some (at least 2) of the labs require a good bit of time. The exams are not proctored, but you do have to use respondus lockdown browser which you will be instructed to download. I hope this helps, if you have anymore questions let me know.
  19. I just purchased my first Erin Condren planner to use when I begin nursing school in the fall. I'm hoping it helps me be a bit more organized.
  20. I just gave up my spot. I decided to accept my spot at another CC. I hope my spot goes to an alternate in this post. Good luck with everything, I wish you guys all the best!!!!
  21. I enjoyed her class. Just follow her directions and you will do well!!!
  22. Try New Mexico Junior College or Clovis Community College. I took micro at New Mexico Junior College and the ADN programs I applied to in Texas accepted without any issues. Plus it's very affordable!!!!
  23. I took online Micro with New Mexico Junior College last summer. Before I enrolled, I made sure that the schools I planned on applying to would accept micro from NMJC. You should probably email the schools you are wanting to attend and ask if they will accept the chemistry course you plan on taking.
  24. You should try Clovis Community College and/or New Mexico Jr College. They offer many online science courses and their cost are very affordable.
  25. I want to say you will have to conduct 2 physical labs where you grow bacteria (very easy). The rest will be from the lab manual. She's a stickler when it comes to citing anything you write. Just make sure you follow her instructions exactly. You will do fine! I took 11 hours total when I took micro in the summer and I was so busy with my other courses that I completely missed a lab where we had to culture bacteria. I received a 0 on that lab and still passed the course with an A (very low A).
