  1. I'm very confused, and hopefully one of y'all can help me out... All parts of my application were submitted by December 13, and I still have not yet received word from either NursingCAS or UF that my application was received/in its entirety, is being processed, etc. I called NursingCAS first, and they told me to call UF Nursing-- I've called UF Nursing a couple of times and never heard back, so I'm starting to lose hope. On the "program status" screen on NursingCAS, it says that all of my UF materials have been received, yet none of them have been verified (despite the fact that they were submitted about 6-7 weeks ago). So I guess my main question is, does NursingCAS "hold" materials until they are verified? I appreciate any insight-- UF is one of my top schools!
  2. I'm a college senior in the process of applying to ABSN programs for fall 2016. I'm nervous about my applications because the grades for my pre-reqs average around a 3.2, which is not too impressive. However, there's a reason behind that-- I took all of my pre-reqs my sophomore year of college, which is coincedentally the year my mom was diagnosed with and passed away from lung cancer... Is it appropriate to mention this somewhere on my application? I remember when I was applying to college there was a spot on the CommonApp to explain extenuating circumstances like this... Is there somewhere to do this on NursingCAS? A friend suggested that I mention it in my personal statement but I feel like that's kind of tacky and it doesn't really fit in with the rest of the content, if that makes sense. Any input would be greatly appreciated! :)
  3. This is a shot in the dark, but I'm desperate. I'm a rising college senior who's about to start applying to ABSN programs. The only problem is, my college does not offer microbiology with a lab... So I'm scrambling to try and find an online microbiology course for the fall. I had it all figured out, until at the VERY last minute (this afternoon), the community college tells me that the class is going to cost me $2700, plus materials... no thanks. So I need an online Microbio class to take, with a lab component, for this fall. As far as residency goes, I'm a Texas resident currently attending college in Tennessee. Here are the parameters: 1. Cost below $1000 (that's as high as I'll go), that's including materials. 2. I know some classes have lab components where you have to physically do the labs in your home, with lab kits and microscopes and the like... That is not going to work, given my living situation. 3. Fairly expedited application process. So likely a junior or community college. As in, yes I can send transcripts, fill out forms, verify citizenship... but no time for interviews or anything involved like that. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks in advance
