  1. I have an accusation against me that is being investigated by the BRN but it has nothing to do with patient care, drugs, alcohol, anything criminal etc. I'm being accused of unprofessionalism for something I won't get into on here. I had a nasty divorce that involved a restraining order against my ex. During that time he made up an accusation and him and his lawyer tried to use it to leverage me to give him custody and drop the restraining order. When I didn't do that he contacted the BRN. After a year of speaking with him and his family they contacted me. I figured it wouldn't go anywhere since I had a restraining order against him and part of that was due to him admitting to making up false allegations to control me. I told them that and fully cooperated with an interview. I even had his court deposition where he admits to doing that in the past so I was shocked when I got a formal accusation in the mail 5 months later. I contacted a lawyer and he was also shocked by all this. He is hoping we won't even have a hearing and he had me get letters from co workers as well as do CEs on ethics in nursing to show the board how professional I am. If the board has already committed to investigating and then a formal accusation do they ever let it go at this point? I wouldn't have thought it would get to this point so now I'm stressed this lie is gonna stick with me forever.
  2. Did you accept the job? What do they start new grads at?
  3. I’m a recent grad in CA with no acute care experience. I was offered a pretty awesome position in a new grad program but it’s a 2 year contract. I’ve been told they aren’t enforceable in CA? I was given the contract and it says I won’t get my offer until the contract is signed which doesn’t feel right. The contract is pretty general and says if I sign it I must stay with them and work 72 hours per pay period for 24 months. Otherwise you pay back the full non pro rated amount it costs to train you. In my unit it would be 30k. I understand they want to get a return on their investment but it’s not even prorated. Anyone have experience with this in CA?
  4. Ya Im pretty sure that means they have 16 vacancies total.
  5. I applied at all 3 and chose acute care and then mental health. I was referred but I think everyone was that qualified. I have been told the VA hiring process is pretty long.
  6. Does anyone know if NICU or the birth center are hiring and if they have made calls for interviews? In the past it seems different units call at different times.
  7. You probably get tired of looking at new grad resumes but I need some fresh eyes on it. Our instructors weren't super helpful and the professional the school had to help wasn't really familiar with nursing. Example Resume.docx
  8. They did my classes together. We all applied different days and were approved the same days besides a couple ppl that had delinquencies.
  9. They will go off of where you did your preceptorship but mine was cut short due to Covid and my preceptorship was not on on my first choice unit. I expressed interest in my desired unit in hopes they wouldn't care I didn't do my preceptorship there. I have prior experience and volunteer in a birth center so I made sure to point all that out along with my applicable certifications.
  10. I expressed interest in the Birth Center or NICU.
  11. I got that email as well, on May 28. Haven't heard anything since and my account says I am still being considered.
  12. I interviewed a week ago and the recruiter said he would send my info to the hiring managers who would contact me in 1-2 weeks for an interview and then a possible offer. He said an ADN starts at 37 something and BSN is a dollar more. He asked all behavioral questions and wanted to know about me and why I chose nursing and Kaweah.
  13. I asked someone from HR and was told BSN is preferred and it depends on the unit but it is not required.
  14. It is preferred. I emailed someone from HR about degree requirements and was told it depends on the unit and their needs as to who moves forward but that it is very competitive with a large applicant pool.
  15. Sutter will hire you with an Interim permit and I have been told that previous students with an IP have been hired with Mercy.
  16. I've only heard of questionnaires being sent after interviews.
  17. I’ve been told they direct your application to open positions based on your preceptorship or other experience. You don’t apply for specific positions. I included my desired units in my cover letter and why I would be a good fit there.
  18. I only included what was in the directions and did its just like the page said. I only uploaded the PDF with my cover letter, resume and transcripts. I uploaded it all to the resume upload and filled out the rest of the application.
  19. The website says its April 29-May 13. I thought it used to be a 1 week period? It looks like they will be updating their system starting tomorrow night so maybe that has something to do with the extended period. For people graduating this Spring I wonder if taking NCLEX before the start date will be a problem and if less people will be eligible to apply due to some schools not graduating on time.
  20. The LVN-RN bridge joins the RN students in 3rd semester. If ppl fail or drop out in 1st or 2nd they fill their spots in third semester with LVN students. They do a clinical class over the Summer and. then start in 3rd.
  21. All the CA nursing schools are dealing with changes daily and their top concern is current students. Some schools are weeks away from graduation and don't know if senior students will graduate on time. They probably don't want to say anything official until they are positive, and with changes constantly happening its probably hard to say anything for certain yet. Just a couple weeks ago ARC wasn't even gonna graduate 4th semester and now they are....
  22. ARC is going to repeat the semester this fall so IDK how that will affect you guys but I’m sure it will. All their class this semester were just canceled. sac state also held back 1-3 semester. They are only taking half the new students they usually do. SCC is moving on all their semesters.
  23. Is anyone planning on applying? Application period opens up April 29th. I am curious how it will work out with unit placement when so many programs in CA did not get to finish their preceptorships.
