Confusion over what psych nursing is really like?
I love being a Psyc nurse and for me, it's not just passing meds and charting! Today I did my meds and charted for my patients, but susi did mental status exams on all of them, did iv meds and an in and out catheter for my patient q4 hrs, did medication education, diffused many situations, counseled a pt on alternatives to medication for severe anxiety, did 2 dressing changes, passed meds, prns and charted it all!

Should I learn martial arts for psych nursing?
Martial arts cannot not and should not ever be used on any patient, psyc or not. Learning how to verbally de-escalate a patient and how to get out of grabs, hairballs, etc is useful, but martial arts will get you into trouble. Try looking for non-violent crisis intervention training instead.

I had mono vision for and had to have a correction done 45 days later as I could not adjust to it. I had really bad headaches and couldn't see clearly. Apparently this happens to a small percentage of people.

Stenberg College
While it may not be the best program nomark, it was the best choice for me and some of my peers who took it. Going to Douglas is not always an option. I needed the flexibility that online learning afforded me. While it definitely has its challenges, I learned a ton and fresh that I am ready for the licensing exam.

Stenberg College
So, to check back ink on this thread, I have now graduated from the psyc nursing program and write my licensing exam in a bit over a month. I already have been hired in Fraser health and have 2 other interviews for next week. At least 6 others in my cohort have jobs and many others are interviewing for the different health authorities. While it wasn't always the easiest or smoothest way to learn, I feel confident that I will be successful in the exam.

Stenberg College Psychiatric Nursing - job prospects?
By the end of both hospital placements, we were acting as full nurses within our scope with minute supervision. In the acute psyc rotation, by the end I had a patient load of 3 and a patient load of 2 for the med surg. We were doing full med, charting, observations in other departments (etc, imaging, surgery, etc).
