  1. I got my invite email last night too. It was in my spam folder!
  2. I haven't received a reject or waitlist notification. I won't be surprised if it was a reject letter, since I didn't get a good feeling during the interview. I really did not like the process: I flew all the way there just to wait around for 4 hours and having only 15 minutes with the panel to show who I am. I spent money and time to get there, the least they could do was ask me about myself.
  3. Is this for Feb or April cohort? Will they be doing an April cohort? I'm asking because the manager of that unit wants to interview me ONLY after I get my ATT, and so far I haven't received it, and I'm scared that he's already passed on me.
  4. I received a call last week, telling me that a unit was interested in interviewing me, but they didn't want to move forward until they get an estimated date of when I'll be taking the NCLEX. I'm hoping I'll get my ATT soon, so that I can set up an interview. My application status still says "Routed." I had called the Nurse Recruitment office before, and they said the delay really depends on the unit. Some of them have deadlines (research?) that are of higher priority than the new grad residency program.
  5. Hi everybody! I'm a senior nursing student from northern California. I really wish I had checked this, and other threads, BEFORE I applied. My essays were short but concise, because for some reason, I wrote it like a cover letter (just the good stuff, no rambling, get straight to the point). Oh well, I tried my best. Good luck, everyone!
  6. Why do some sections have fridays off and some dont? It appears thst the ones with Fridays off have their skills lab on the same day as their clinicals. Are the skills lab only for the first two Tuesdays of the whole semester or month? I feel like I would need lots of lab time to feel comfy.
  7. Thanks! That helps bc I had no idea what they're looking for. I just got a printout of all my vaccines from my hospitals Immunology clinic and it just read "Varicella - POS titer" but I guess CP needs more specific info. I will visit my clinic again.
  8. My HealthStream section of CertifiedProfile is orange and said "OVERDUE" yet I had uploaded my transcript several weeks ago and it was accepted. So weird. Does anyone know what they are looking for in terms of the varicella? I got it before the vaccine was available, so I did a titer blood test for antibodies, which came up positive. Yet my documentation was rejected. What did you guys (the ones who had the virus and not vaccine) submit?
  9. I don't know if any website that states which colleges admit new students each semester, but here is a list of all pre-licensure BSN programs in California: Board of Registered Nursing - RN Programs Then just go down the list to see which ones you are interested in and check if they do spring admission. My advice: pick the schools asap so that you can fulfill their requirements before applying. The application period for schools vary, so you don't want to miss any deadlines.
  10. Perhaps you should re-take Micro at another school, and maybe decrease your courseload next time. Was there a reason why you took 5 classes while working during one semester? I understand the desperation to complete your prerequisites ASAP but what good will it do if you can't handle it, therefore it decreases your GPA? Also, do NOT compare yourself to other classmates! Your life is different from their lives and there's nothing you can do about it. You're just going to screw yourself over and waste energy by constantly thinking about them. Focus only on yourself. If anything, at least you have an advantage in your next Micro class because you already took it!
  11. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one freaking out! I'm 29; I was the oldest student in most of my pre-req classes, but I'm glad that I am doing this at my age rather than when I was 18 because I had horrible study habits and no motivation when I was younger. I've been scouring this website for information on how to prepare, but I think the one advice I've read that I really need to follow is: relax and enjoy ourselves...because it's going to be crazy once spring semester rolls around.
  12. The first thing I would do is look at the pre-reqs of UMKC's nursing program, so you know what kind of classes you need. Because it's in a different state, some classes may not transfer, so I suggest calling them (if you can) and telling them which community college you are currently attending so you can figure out which classes qualify. As for the general ed stuff, have you thought about taking CLEP or DANTES exams to fulfull those? THey are free to military members (but $100 for retakes). That way you can just get them out of the way and focus on the classes you have attend (like science with lab courses). My husband is an Air Force NCO and CLEPing classes have saved him so much time and energy! I agree with the other posters that you should also have a backup school in mind in case UMKC is very difficult to get into. I'm stationed in CA as well and the BSN programs here are ridiculously competitive. I already have my AA degree, but it took me 2 years to get the prereqs in order to transfer to a CSU's BSN program.
  13. I have seen many students having trouble with Physiology because they didn't have a background knowledge of chemistry. I took health chem before A&P and so it was a breeze for me. But taking them together will be fine because you'll sort of be learning similar stuff together. You sound like a hardworking and committed student, so I think you'll do fine.
  14. sj94 - Ugh I tried to send you a pm but the system won't let me because I have made only 8 posts on the website (I need 15 in order to pm, so weird). Maybe you can PM me your email address? I'm trying to post as much as I can in different forum topics, but they need to be approved by a moderator :***: On another topic, I'm looking at the Spring 2014 Pre-Entry Checklist. It says that we send HealthStream module completion documentation to a website, where we will be sending most of our other docs to (such as background check, CPR, health and auto insurance, immunization records, etc.) I just can't wait for next email to come so I can get started already!
