I work in a prison and Easter is not even considered a holiday
  2. Even the highest most experienced RN is never above wiping a butt. Sorry. I am an RN who truly believes in never losing your skills as a CNA. It's all in the job description. If wiping poo bothers you, are you sure you wanna be a nurse?
  3. Welcome to nursing! There will always be nurses who break the rules, cut corners, etc. Just do it the RIGHT way yourself and pick your battles. If these nurses are as bad as you say, they are digging themselves a hole and will soon cave in.
  4. I agree with one of the above posters, an RN should be professional and not act that way! I'd approach her like the previous poster said and talk out her issues. Trust me, you'll get some points for having the guts to be mature about it. I hope you can work it out because you don't deserve that one bit!! Take care dear!
  5. As an RN who loves her LPN's I find this offensive. basically saying, "oh you're too dumb to pass the NCLEX RN..just be an LPN!" My LPN's know their stuff! C'mon! Ya kidding me?
  6. Every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. I love being a correctional nurse. This population fascinates me. I am never ever bored in my job. Sure it can be hard, especially when they act up, make vulgar comments etc. But you gotta have strong shoulders to work in this environment. You have to stand your ground with inmates and they will respect you. Treat them with kindness and respect but always be professional. Never let them or YOU cross the line. Many of them make it a goal to get involved with female staff ( I work in a men only prison). As far as attacks, yes nurses at mine have. Guards at mine have. But most of the men in my experience have a protective sense over us female staff. However I'd NEVER EVER trust any of them. Even the nicest one can snap. Don't go into work scared, go into work "aware."
  7. We've all made mistakes, some cringe worthy..yes. Learn from this. Not sure what you're outcome will be but I am sure you meant no harm at all. Btw. I would change your profile pic to remain more anonymous. Your little one is very cute but a coworker might recognize that little cutie.
  8. HAHAHA! I can just picture this...no WAY!
  9. I've been in Pediatrics and now I am in Corrections. I plan on retiring in Corrections.
  10. I agree! I knew hospital/bedisde was not for me. I feel much more like a nurse in the non-hospital setting.
  11. I did my med-surg clinicals in a Catholic hospital (I am Catholic btw) and besides the crucifix over every patient door, religious pictures and statues in the lobby, and the chapel with the Virgin Mary, I did not feel a religious tone or religions being pushed by staff. They can't discriminate against you for being atheist. And if they do, they got bigger issues to worry about.
  12. Sadly, I feel that healthcare has become a business as opposed to caring for the needs of the sick.
  13. I did ATI and I did not think it was similar to NCLEX-RN. I can't speak for PN. I felt the NCLEX-RN was most similar to Kaplan questions.
  14. I ask at 13. This is what I was told to do when I worked in the clinic.
