Pre-Nursing student STRESSING PLEASE HELP
í ½í±í ½í± Thanks for checking out my previous post. Yes my Chem teacher locked me out the class. I wasn't LATE. We were on a BREAK. But I won't go into detail because I don't understand what that has to do with this post. I didn't fail chem 3 times or am I asking for advice. I'm giving my input on the op topic. So perhaps you should also stay on topic. I suggested LVN school because an old classmate of mines went through a similar situation and is now in a LVN-RN program.

Pre-Nursing student STRESSING PLEASE HELP
Maybe you should ummm...try a LVN program? Failed 3 times?? That's crazy. In my chemistry class I got a B because I never looked at the assigned videos until the middle of he semester. YouTube will be your BESTFRIEND and the online component that comes with the book. Although schools say you can retake a science course, most schools still use the FIRST grade received when considering your application. For example, LAHC considers a W your first attempt.

Failed English 101 twice! Need advice!
Try taking it at another school.

How do you feel about professors locking the door?
This happen to me in a prereq..chemistry to be exact. We were on break, I went downstairs to go to the vending machine and as I was coming back I noticed the door was closed but the door is always closed. I tried to open it and it was LOCKED. I knocked on the door for 20 mins, texted my classmates and they replied back and said,"she won't let us open the door for you." I literally had to go get campus police for them to let me in the class. Once I got in she claimed she didn't hear anyone knocking.

Do W's make a huge impact on your acceptance?
No W's in science. The W's are waaaay before I declared Nursing last fall. But in California requirements are 1) cumulative 2.5 gpa in ALL coursework; 2) 2.5 or higher in science prereq's; 3) No more than one repeat in science.

Microbiology
I hope you don't talk to your Micro professor the way your replying to others here. I've only had one science teach to give extra credit and/or curve a grade but you literally have to jump through hoops of fire (ex. donate blood and provide proof for 5 points, lecture part of a chapter for 2 points). All I can say is do your best in this class and triple check your scantron and lab before you turn it in. My micro teacher was very much like yours and dropped everyone's grade down a letter. Good Luck.

Do W's make a huge impact on your acceptance?
I'm currently enrolled in my last science prerequisite (yaaay) and as I'm checking local cc's orientation dates for the next application cycle I find myself getting really nervous about my W's. My gpa for my prerequisites is 3.42 and my science gpa is 2.9 (I already know I'll end up with a B in current class) but I have a ton of W's from being young and dumb. Do you think these W's will really have an impact on being accepted into the program??

HELP! Stressing about chemistry
YouTube & flash cards will be your best friend! I made it out of chem with a B. In a class like this you can't just memorize, you have to really practice. Doing the questions in your book should help you out a lot.

Microbiology help
Hey, I took micro over the summer & had a mental breakdown at least three times. I'm not sure what micro book is required for your class but I have an eBook (Alcamo's Fundamentals of Microbiology 9th edition) that I can email you. I also have the microbiology quick study and review questions.

How to handle a professor who does not like you?
I'm currently taking a micro this summer and my professor does not like me...For what reason? I have NO IDEA. I rarely speak to him except for a good morning or have a nice day. At this point it seems like he's slowly torturing me. He's constantly asking me why am I still in his class, he gave my seat away, and he just always finds a way to say something negative to me. At first I wasn't making a big deal out of it but now I dread going to class because I feel like I'm being bullied. It's at the point where my classmates are asking me what did I do to make him dislike me so much. Any advice on how to handle this would be a blessing.

anyone else struggle with Algebra
I struggled with Intermediate Algebra in the beginning really bad.. I had a D at the 8th week. I knew I had to change something. First thing I did was go to ol' faithful YOUTUBE! In class rather than writing while the teacher is explaining, I watched then jotted down the notes quickly and made little side notes to myself. That worked for me, I ended up with a B.

Chemistry
I feel the exact same way but in my opinion it's what you put in plus what kind of professor you have. My teacher didn't like us asking questions most days and other days when we didn't answer she refuses us to lecture, so it was a lot of self-teaching. One thing to do is study EVERYDAY at least two hours and form a study group.

What's your schedule like for Fall 2014?
Physiology (my last science prereq!) Intro To Nursing Dosage Calculations Pharmacology

What was your GPA when you got accepted?
ALL THE TIME! Sometimes schools don't go by the gpa but a point system. I know a fellow classmate that had a 3.9 and was sure she would get into the program but she didn't due to the point system
-
Wasn't accepted into a program.... Now what?
I agree with dt70

Problem with Low overall GPA
how low of a gpa? The lowest would be 2.0

What's in your backpack?
I asked this question because my pre-nursing buddies carry 2-3 bags DAILY but I can't possibly figure out what they have in the other bags if we have the same classes lol. my remaining classes are physiology and microbiology.

What's in your backpack?
I know this might be a weird question but whats in your backpack? Lol. What's the top three things you always NEED in your back pack? My backpack isn't huge but it is roomy. It's made by Roxy, purchased at Ross for $15 ! I haven't bought my books yet (they're not on sale yet) but I'll have Mead Notebooks for my Chem and Math class, whatever books is required for my english class, ink joy pens, 5 assorted highlighters, correction tape, lead pencils, large eraser, durable tabs, and a calculator. My top three would have to be trail mix, a water bottle, and another bag of trail mix.

Advice on selling books online
I think the best option is just to sell it to a student at your school. At my school the first week of class there's literally flyers EVERYWHERE with students selling their books from the previous semester.

Bye Bye Fall 2013 ! IM FREAKING OUT !
I'm sooo happy this semester is over but my speech and medical terminology teacher are freaking me out. Why you ask? My speech teacher doesn't really have a grading scale and wouldn't update us of our grade during the semester. I took medical terminology online but if you spent more than 2 minutes on a question you didn't get credit. In medical term we all complained about it but I'm not sure if he's looking into it or not because he's in charge of the science department. But back to my speech class, the teacher wasn't consisted. I know other people in her other sections and it seems like she expects are class to just go above and beyond while the other classes barely do anything.

What are some easier nursing programs to get into?
all of the CSU's are extremely impacted...your best option might be a private school. Try Mount St. Mary's
