  1. Does anyone happen to know if class rank and gpa are looked at specifically for nursing classes (versus cumulative)? I ask because I'ma a second degree baccalaureate student, and many of my classmates have 3.9 gpas because they have minimal credit hours.
  2. Hi. I'm currently in my 3rd semester in a BSN program and I have to be honest with you. I don't think it's possible to take on a minor with a nursing major-there just isn't enough time in the day, especially if you're working. Nursing school isn't hard if you Just want to get by, but if you're wanting to get good grades and become a good nurse it is a big time commitment.
  3. I will also be looking to work in Georgia--specifically in the Atlanta area in a couple of years. I will actually be looking for work initially as an LPN and was curious to know what areas you were able to fins work in
  4. Nursing school is much more demanding and stressful than most people think. Just try to verbalize how you feel with your partner. It's important to remain focused for school, but when you do have time (i.e. for the holidays) take advantage of it! Make sure you take time for you as well, even if that doesn't necessarily mean hanging out with your man every free second you get. Find what makes you relax for your sanity and for the betterment of your relationship. Good luck! You will find your balance, don't get discouraged!
  5. I am also a second degree student and plan on attending both ceremonies when I graduate from nursing school. I totally understand how you feel though. I do think that you should at least go to the pinning ceremony. It is a celebration of all your hard work, you deserve it!
  6. I'm still a student nurse, studying in another state, but I plan on moving to GA for work. Would it be wise to just board in GA, or board in Hawaii, where I am now, and then try to transfer my license via endorsement?
  7. Luckily Hawaii does allow it. Fortunately.
  8. That is my worry--getting stuck with that LVN title. But I'm hoping that the experience will pay off in the end. Thanks for sharing that! It does give me some hope:)
  9. Thanks so much for all the information!
  10. I'm a traditional BSN student who intends on taking the NCLEX-PN exam next year, once I am eligible to do so (after my 4th semester). I was hoping to gain experience and work on my skills as an LPN before I take the NCLEX-RN so that I'm more comfortable with whatever field I go into. Has anyone already done that or does anyone else intend on taking the NCLEX-PN while in nursing school?
  11. Congrats everyone! I'm curious what kinds of materials you all have used to prepare for the exam. I plan on taking it next year and would love to get some helpful hints :) Thanks!
  12. Thanks so much for your help!
  13. LVNbayarea: I'm going to become an LPN soon, but you, I am also from out of state. I am going to be moving to Atlanta with my fiance. How hard was it to get your license endorsed?
  14. Hey guys, I need some help here. I'm a BSN student at a school in Honolulu, Hawaii and am looking to find a job in the medical field in Atlanta, GA for the summer of 2015 (after my 3rd semester). I'm going to be visiting Atlanta from May to August and am hoping to start building my resume/networking there so that I can find a job once I graduate. I know that here in Hawaii student nurses can be hired as CNAs, and wanted to know if the same is true in Georgia. Thanks for your help guys!
  15. I think as long as they are mostly white. I got mine from Walmart. They were less than $30.
  16. I ordered everything except the bundle so far. I might get that stuff through the bookstore :/ And I'm so glad! I just didn't want to be slacking, but I have been trying to enjoy free time before school starts
  17. Is anyone reviewing a&p or doing anything to prepare for the start of class? Do you think we should?
  18. Finally got my registration date and time. Are all transfers on January 3rd?
  19. Oooh! How exciting! I'm not sure. I wish we could find out if we will really make use of all of these add ons. I really don't want to pay for things if they won't be needed.
  20. I tried to buy most of my books used, except for the ones that seemed to include CDs. Don't worry though, even the new books were cheaper than most of the used versions. Early I had looked up some of the books in the bundle but couldn't find all of them, and I don't believe you can buy remaining books separately from the bookstore--they only come together in the bundle. I'm going to have to bite the bullet and wait to purchase the whole thing from UH. I'm definitely not planning to get the ebook version though.
  21. Just called about the bundle, which is the only thing I need from the bookstore. They don't even have the shipment in yet. Heads up guys
  22. Did you get the text book bundle today?
  23. I just ordered my books on amazon. Planning to head over go to the bookstore tomorrow for my CPR manual. Has anyone else gotten it yet?
