Not to be hasty, I did read your other posts. I think you should do some career counseling. Being a nurse means critical thinking, taking responsibility and being held accountable. Based solely on your words I do not think you are mature enough yet. There are other medical jobs with less responsibility, maybe phlebotomist or PT tech. I wish you well.

25yrs here. Happy with my job but feel the need to bridge or I will finish my career working in a LTC. 10yrs ED/Trauma, 10yrs ICU, 5yrs Oncology. And my options are less and less every year.

I am also in Texas. You can charge over other LVN, CNA, Medical techs, etc... but not over RNs. When I was "charge" over my hospital's 16 bed PCU and 16 bed ICU I had the title "Resource". My supervisor would have had to officially direct the RNs. However, my management style was based on asking questions, giving information and maybe making suggestions. I never had any difficulty with the legalities.

I work in an ICU and have for 20yrs in Okla and now in Texas. I have always titrated my own gtts. It depends on hospital policies. I have taken many courses and that does help to demonstrates competence.

Texas is a great place for experienced LVNs to work. Every hospital has their own policies but some are very good. State law forbids us from doing initial assessments, inserting PICCs, but that about all if you have been independently trained. You also can't supervise an RN relating to nursing judgement.

Catch 22. I would recommend 1-2 yr of Med/Surg for a background to be a good HH nurse, but if you can't get the experience...

Pick your battles. You will come by bigger ethical/legal issues than this.

No hesitation. Get your RN.

Get your RN. I worked with an LVN who had his MBA. He got no special treatment.

I did not study. I got a job in trauma and critical care for 6.25, as a graduate nurse.

If you are so unsure of your skills, I recommend you have employment counseling. It does not sound like nursing is a good fit for you.
