  1. Sorry about my typos, I am on my phone, but I say go for it! Good luck :)
  2. I agree with the other user, it depends on your area! Here in California, most LPN/LVN are being phased out of hospitals, but they are being used a lot in rehabilitation centers, clinics, long term care, home health and other areas as well! If you're working in a home health setting & sometimes faculties, is your company willing to hire you as an LPN? I don't think it is a waste of time for you to advance your education, phases of nursing are constantly changing, and you never know when a sudden rise in LVNs may be needed in your area! In the meantime while you look for an LVN job, you can continue working as a CNA.
  3. Yes good luck! Congratulations on passing the placement exam! :) good things are ahead for you!
  4. Yeah I have a friend who is an LVN and unfortunately her school was not accredited. She wants to pursue her RN and if she wants to, she has to start over from the beginning instead of a transition program so best of luck!
  5. PS.. It is possible to make it work, I used to study at my boyfriends house in his bedroom while he would hang out with his friends watching games in the living room, even though we weren't having one on one time, it was nice to know he was near me. Just one of the few little things we did. Dinner every Friday night.. Etc. I worked too so I was def busy.
  6. You won't know until you are actually experiencing it, unless you don't want to be with him already, don't break it off for something that hasn't even happened yet. You may be over thinking it right now, imagining what could happen, if he discourages you from your dreams, that's never a good sign, if he is supportive it's great. Nursing school is very hard on relationships, but growing together and bettering yourself could ultimately improve your relationship and help you appreciate him/each other more. Sounds like your decision to go into nursing school will either break you two or make you, which will benefit you either way. Take it one step at a time. Talk to him about how you feel and tell him you need to support !!! But honestly, most ppl don't get it, unless they are in nursing school! But honestly, he can be supportive and not get the stress. Good luck :)
  7. Take the job, it will make u a stronger nurse, they will know you hve thick skin for being able to handle a place like that!!
  8. I agree soooo much with u! Not only do you have less energy when buying food out, but it starts to take a toll on your wallet!!! I promised myself I would make my lunch for school every single day (this way I could eat healthier and save money) I told myself I would allow myself one outside lunch a semester, if for any reason I didn't shop that week, forgot my lunch, or got up to late! So last semester I ended up making it everyday, it was nice! Making time for working out is a whole other problem :
  9. Hello, I am an LVN. I tried to do LVN to RN, but unfortunately, my school only accepted 10 Students for the bridge program, within the same month, I got accepted to the traditional RN program. I accepted because here in California, the competition to get into this particular RN program is very high! So I basically have to start over and repeat some classes also, but it's honestly going by really fast and I just embrace the fact that because I have this previous knowledge, I am not struggling like a lot of other students! I am not sure if your situation is similar to mine, but that's kind of what it sounded like! Repeating classes goes by so fast and it will only make you a better nurse in the long run! Keep your eye on your goal :) you're not alone !
  10. Hey I haven't attended that school, but I just want to make sure, if you are planning I eventually get your BSN, make sure your school is accredited and make sure your units will transfer when you're done! :) good luck with everything! Going back to school can be tough, but so worth it!!
  11. All I have to say is that misery loves company, when people are miserable, they want others to be miserable with them! I am going to keep this short and simple, you will know when you are doing too much, your body and mind will tell you. Until then, keep moving forward and take rest when you need to!
  12. You're not alone! Everyone feels that at some point or another! You go into your first day of clinical and you're just like "I don't know anything!" and then someone might as you something you don't know! Keep it simple, act confident and say "Ill find out for you". You soon start to get into the rhythm of things and you smile when you look back at how nervous you were! I think at one point everyone asks themselves "Can I do this?" or maybe even "I cant do this!" might run through your mind, but that its completely normal! We all have to start somewhere. Channel your fear into excitement, your time to shine is here! Welcome to nursing :) One more thing.... if you really don't know something, or don't know how to do something, ASK! the patients, faculty, and nursing staff will appreciate it and you'll learn so much more that way.
  13. When you take your NCLEX your license # should pop up on the boards website and you can apply for jobs with just your license #! Usually they do not require the hard license. Yes you can work home health as a CNA, in my state CNAs who work HHC are referred to as care givers! I did notice HHC is often willing to work with school schedules, especially if the pt you are working with really likes you! I don't believe you need a HH certification since you are already a CNA and since you are in the LVN program that will help a lot too! I wouldn't! It just depends what your state requires! I am in California and most places do not require HH certification if you are a CNA. :)
  14. what scares me is the exhaustion! I am very good with turning down shifts and saying no when I need to! yikes.... makes HHC sound really appealing right about now!
  15. Thanks girl! I will keep you posted on what I decide!! you've been very helpful!:)
