  1. OMG...I feel like you wrote your post from my perspective completely!!! I was fortunate enough to land a highly sought after job at an amazing hospital on a med-surg unit...a little more than a month ago. Within a month I lost 16 lbs...(mind you, I was only 133 to start), I couldn't eat, cried at home all the time, became a horrible mother, laid in bed on my days off...sometimes for 3 or 4 days dreading the thought of going back. I was still on orientation, was told I was doing great, my patients had no clue I was a new grad and loved me. But in the end, just a few days ago...I resigned. I felt like I was running from room to room throwing meds to people, not having time to listen to what was really wrong, and I was suffering. You will have to think about yourself a little...you can't take care of others if you are not taken care of. Good luck...
  2. Additionally, this person could have had a perfectly written resume...but that's not hard these days, many people have someone else do it for them. So this could actually be the first written coorespondence from this person....AHHHH!!! I wrote a follow-up email to a potential employer. I could have written it from my phone...I didn't because of the potential for easy mistakes. I pulled out the handy dandy laptop, typed up a nice email, checked the spelling and hit sent. I'm a single mom...to much rides on being lazy. "I'm sorry sweetie, mommy can't buy groceries this week, because I didn't care enough to apply myself when trying to get a job". If this person is so destitute, perhaps he should try harder...
  3. I would think they would send someone else to work on the second patient. But agreed it sounds like an EMS dispatch situation more than anything. EMS doesn't leave a patient to go to another patient...communications (dispatch) just sends another close by unit. Wow...sorry they seem to make this confusing by using a US book and not even going by US protocols. HECK...I'm confused and I'm out of school. Welcome to AN
  4. I think a lot more people don't pass than you think! When I went to my interview I mentioned that I just passed NCLEX on my first try...thought all 3 of the people were gonna pass out. They all said "wow, really???" I wanted to say..."yeah, surprised the heck out of me too! I understand 7 people from our class of 50 this year haven't passed yet. If you think you can, contact your instructors for help. My friend did that, and she is about to sit for the 3rd time. Keep going...
  5. Does your textbook have an additional CD or online site. I know our main textbook had an online site you could go to and take test questions for the particular chapters, also could do a crossword puzzle on there too. Wow to the 70%, we had to have 75% or higher, otherwise it was a failing grade and then we had to have an appointment with the instructor. Good luck...keep going!
  6. I swear that was the office manager before I became a nurse. I wrecked my jeep in the snow and said I wouldn't be in. She said "I dont' know why you cant make it in, I did". I gave 4 weeks notice my next shift. She was such a double standard person. She would go on vacation and the day she was supposed to be back to work her plane always came in soooo late, and she was too tired to work...or she always called in a "mental health" day. It was perfect that she always missed at least one day a week...because she was salary. She wrote in my file when i had a stomach bug that it was a coworkers bday and I was most likely with that person.
  7. When I first read this I thought "is this person for real?". I don't care how young or hip a peron thinks they are, nursing school clinicals, and the hospital are where you suck it up and blend in fashion wise. I just graduated in May and we all wore the same ugly elastic top navy pants and a ridiculously ugly whte top. We all had to have leather or leather-like shoes. Did we all look like morons?...yes. And did we want to be caught dead elsewhere in those get ups?..heck no. Your respect for what you should wear as a professional adult should be reevauated, along with the slang...leave that on the high school bus.
  8. Suit for sure...and I like the pants suit! I had nice Lands End black pants, went to Kohls and bought a black jacket to go with it...made my own super cute suit..got the second job I interviewed for as a new grad!
  9. Do you have ringing in your ears? YES!!!...well they are call bells...
