There are millions of unemployed nurses, everywhere. And the pay of nurses is plummeting in many places. They could hire some of those milions, even to just have a pool of staff on call. Yet they pay huge $ for the travellers (salary, big housing all...
What census do you cover? (Bed total and average total patient load and PPS load?)Are you the sole MDS nurse, or not?Do you enter your own data? Are you current with assessments normally, or normally late?Salaried, or hourly?
This site gives a nice overview of the billions of offshoots of PPACA. It's from a liberal bent, but overall it's the most comprehensive site I've seen. (It claims that Obamacare will save 'tens of millions of lives', etc.- too bad nobody can be fact...
I just happened upon this area of AN, and thought I'd add some insight into the unusual realm of being a nurse in the military, for those who have no idea. In a military settting, rank, not title, determines who runs the show. A licensed nurse may we...
Why do ads say something like 'closes August 5', or 'open until filled'. Isn't it a given that a job vacancy is open until filled? Are they trying to incite excitement by saying 'closes August 5', as though you better hurry up- or on August 5 do they...

Another source people may not be aware of is vrbo.com I use it for road trips, etc. When I use them I always offer the owners a ridiculous low ball offer , and so far have always found furnished places at less than half the asking price, when it's o...
Expensive= staff pay, agency takes a cut, etc. Sounds expensive, but the curve in here seems to be more like it's a cheaper alternative for the hospitals. Interesting. But like that 400 bed SNF I was in, all agency- there must be more to it than meet...
"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending". -Maria Robinson (Although this is untrue for nurses in regard to licensure, etc.- it's useful for other aspects of life).
Pray tell also, where I even 'remotely' said you were getting rich, or 'remotely' indicated you were paid too much? I said it's expensive, or I thought so, to PAY THE COST for traveling nurses. If anyone gets rich, I'm sure it's the agency owners.
Why would I want to antagonize you? Where is that coming from? I asked a question, and am getting great information. There seems to be some angry people in this forum. Please tell me where I said you were lazy, overpaid, or anything? But AGAIN, despi...

Why isn't there a daycare center in every elementary school in America- is that too logical? Property taxes already pay for schools, why not also pay daycare?

I've been in one, LTC. The surveyors were cut from a different cloth than the typical state surveyors. It wasn't exactly relaxed, but it was almost as though you weren't aware they were present. They certainly didn't have chips on their shoulders.
The entire tone of any explanation may be: "I did it, it was my fault and I'll never do it again. This was a singular indiscretion.""I learned that it is easy to relax one's standards when not working."Wonderfully stated.
