NCLEX failure research
For anyone who has previously read this post and responded, thank you. Initially, any GN who was an LPN was excluded from participation. At this time, the LPN exclusion is gone. If you are an LPN and are interested in participating, please re-click on the link above.... Thank you again for your interest.

Post Master's Certificates in Nsg Education Recommendations
Hello, My best answer to you is to reconsider the PhD. In particular, a PhD in Nursing Education. Many schools and universities are now requiring a terminal degree for full time faculty jobs. I have a MSN with specialization in Nursing Ed but am still required to obtain my PhD ..... it is difficult teaching as a temporary faculty full time and working on a PhD..... What type of master's do you have that you want a post masters in nursing ed? In my state, NPs can teach or practice or both..... just some thoughts. We need more educators in nursing schools so I hope you find the right path for yourself. Good Luck

Nurse Educator
Every state and potentially school is different. A master's degree was enough at one time but now many universities are requiring a PhD... check with your state board of nursing and look at the requirements of the job you are wanting..... like everything else in nursing, there are many roads to a single place, Good Luck!

LPN Student in RN Clinical
The school needs to find her a place as an LPN student. The teaching and expectations should be different for RN students than LPN students. You are setting yourself up to be the fall guy...... I would not take the risk.

Nurse educator AND FNP..need advice!
I so agree with ctersi01.... Get the NP you can use that degree for either field. I went the MSNed route and really wish I had gone the NP instead. I love teaching but I do not have any options but to teach with my degree. My friend went the NP route and is much happier and has many more options.

Research
Proton, You do not have to earn a PhD in nursing to perform research but.... to be a nurse, first complete a nursing program- since you have a BS already you would not need a BSN. Apply to an associate degree program or some schools offer an entry to practice at the master's level.... that would be ideal for you. A PhD will make you a better researcher and will give you some support. I am finishing my PhD and could not be happier with my choice. Nursing needs more researchers... I wish you all the best.

NCLEX failure research
Hello, My name is Christina Silva and I am a doctoral candidate, nurse educator, and staff nurse. I am performing a qualitative dissertation research study on graduate nurses (GNs) who have failed the NCLEX-RN® multiple times. I need participants for my study and I would like your assistance either as a participant or as a referral source. I would like to thank you in advance for your assistance. Why am I concerned with GNs who have failed the NCLEX-RN® multiple times? As a doctoral candidate and nurse educator, I have witnessed family members fail to perform well on standardized exams. I have witnessed nursing students struggle with examinations in school and struggle to pass the NCLEX-RN®. I want to understand this struggle. The best source to help me understand the issue of multiple NCLEX-RN® failure is YOU, the GNs who have encountered problems passing the NCLEX-RN®. Your experience or story will help me to understand this problem. Background With today's aging population, nurses are a necessary resource (Bargagliotti, 2009). By the year 2030, the American population aged 65 and older will reach 20% of the total United States population or greater than 70 million people (Lun, 2011; Sade, 2012; Vincent & Velkoff, 2010). With the aging population growing, the professionals needed to care for them must increase also. Many professions including nursing are looking for ways to increase the workforce that will care for the elderly population (Lun, 2011). GNs who have failed the NCLEX-RN® multiple times are a vital part of meeting this need. Purpose of the Study The purpose of this study is to understand the experiences of GNs who have failed the NCLEX-RN® multiple times. Phenomenology describes carefully all that is hidden in any act of consciousness. This method seeks to understand every day, ordinary occurrences. This research approach does not seek to provide absolute answers but to provide a means of understanding the participants' experiences of failing the NCLEX-RN® multiple times. Have you or someone you know completed your nursing program? Have you or someone you know taken the NCLEX-RN more than once and not passed? If you have taken the NCLEX-RN more than once and not passed and are interested in participating in this research study, click on the link below. If you know someone who has taken the NCLEX-RN more than once and not passed and might be interested in participating in my research study, please ask him or her to click on the link below. research link: https://iup.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_dncuQfkaPlhkOVf Thank you again for your interest. MSN in Education or MS Ed?
Not to upset you more but..... the current climate at many universities is the want for a PhD. I have a MSN and am working on finishing my PhD because I could not be permanent faculty without the PhD. I even thought about changing schools but most of those offering full time jobs want faculty to have a PhD.... Also, many schools do require either the MSN or PhD in nursing so.... get a master's in nursing....

Clinical Instructor Advice
like others have stated it really depends on the nursing schools in your area. Some may be in need of adjunct faculty and others may not. Try being an adjunct faculty first then if you like that aspect, investigate full-time hirings. I started out working staff full-time, part-time (adjunct) teaching, and being in a master's program. It was difficult and I had a staff job that really worked with my schedule. I have prgressed from there over the years and now I am full-time faculty at a univeristy , casusal staff RN at a perinatal unit, and a PhD student. So nursing education can be rewarding. Just like any job you get out of it what you are willing to put in or have time to put in.

ATI Testing for BSN Students
We use ATI with our students. Probably the biggest advantage for you the student is when you use all of the resources on ATI's site. There are tutorials on how to answer questions and lots of review material. The other advantage is just getting the ATI testing style. The NCLEX is written by many folks from the entire country. By learning to answer questions other than those of your school, you will be better prepared for the final exam- your licensing exam. Good luck

Repeat Test Taker of NCLEX RN exam
To TopicBrat, Each state has its' own rules and regulations for how often one can test and retest for the NCLEX.... some are very specific and require remediation once you fail X number of times... others let you retest as much as you want with a minimum of days in between the tests... look at your state board of nursing and surrounding boards of nursing for requirements for each state.
