update on my endorsement situation...need advice!
I have been working in CA for 4 years now. I had to jump through a few hoops with the board, but it was OK and I got my license. In CA you have to report EVERYTHING, even minor traffic offenses! I think it took about 5 weeks and I had to get all sorts of documentation from my ticket from when I was 19 years old.

update on my endorsement situation...need advice!
when i talked to the lady at the BON, she told me that it would probably only add about an extra week on to the process since the offense was minor and happened almost 8 years ago. that is what she said. all i can do at this point is submit my info asap and hope for the best.

Feelings about graduation
haha...i agree with the above poster. that, and i'm just burnt out! i have my final on wednesday and i'm having a hard time focusing. i'm more concerned about nclex right now. i'm taking the test as soon as i get my ATT, so i've been studying for that. so, i don't feel like i can get too excited or relaxed after graduation because i know there is still more work to be done. does it ever end? haha.

update on my endorsement situation...need advice!
I was just told that they would not give me a temporary license as a walk through in Sacramento...they will still issue a temporary after they review my documents. I can't start the process until after I take boards.

update on my endorsement situation...need advice!
Hi, I posted a question awhile back and wanted to update in case this could help others. I also have another question... I am graduating from WI and will be taking boards here. I need to endorse to CA, but have a *minor* past conviction (underage drinking from 7 years ago). I was planning to go to Sacramento to get the temporary license, but I called them today and was told that they are not issuing temporary licenses to people with past convictions.... So now here is my plan and I need help. -planning to take boards ASAP at the end of december -will send out endorsement application/fees etc as soon as i can be verified through nursys.com -moving to CA in january (be there by 1/7) -will submit fingerprints via livescan once in CA My question is: I've heard it is faster to do livescan for fingerprints vs. doing it through mail. can i send the application in and everything else to START the process and then submit the fingerprints as soon as i get to CA? This is all so confusing! I have tried to do as much reading on allnurses and the BRN website, but still it makes my head spin! I need to get the temporary license ASAP as I'm supposed to start orientation on 1/24. Any advice or suggestions? Am I doing the right thing here? thanks to everyone! and good luck to anyone else going through this ordeal

tips for passing ATI comprehensive
Hi! I'm about to graduate here in 2 weeks but first I have to pass the ATI comprehensive test. We have 2 tries and then we don't pass the class. I'm hoping to pass on the first try, but was curious if anyone had any tips to passing the test? Thanks and good luck to all Dec graduates

CA license question
Hi, Sorry, I need to clarify (see this is confusing which is why i have to ask!). I have accepted a position in CA as a new grad. I'm taking NCLEX in my home state BEFORE I move to CA. I don't currently work as an intern or anything like that.

CA license question
i don't want to take boards in CA because I want to take them before i leave. i was told that if i went to sacramento, then i could get my temporary license that day.

CA license question
Hi, I know there is a sticky on this subject and I tried going to the BRN website and I'm still confused. Hoping to hear from someone who has gone through the process... I'm moving to CA from Wisconsin in January as a new RN. I am taking boards in WI in January, then moving to CA shortly after that. I was told by another student that it is easier to apply for a WI license, then go to Sacramento and transfer to a CA license. Is this true, or is it easier/more cost effective to apply directly to CA? I know I have to provide transcripts and fingerprints to CA, but do I have to have all of my prior conviction stuff to submit to CA again even if I had done that for my WI license? If I take my boards on 1/11 and go up to Sacramento the following week, will I be able to get my license that day? WI is a state where you get your NCLEX results in a few days. Sorry, this is all so confusing to me and I want to do this the right way without delays and trying to avoid extra costs if possible. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

Is there any hope for a new grad??
I graduate in Dec also and have been offered positions on 2 different cardiac floors. I don't have any experience other than clinicals...so you can get in if you want to. You get so much specialized training, so I'm hoping I will learn fast. Good luck!

interview questions for new grad
Hello all, I'm going to graduate in Dec and am being considered for several jobs on cardiac units. I did my initial screening on the phone with a recruiter and then will find out what managers I will be interviewing with and what floors. My quesion is, what might they ask me during these interviews? I don't really have any experience in cardiac, so will they ask me specific quesions related to the heart or will they just want to know more about my patient experiences? Any help on what to expect would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Graduate in December. Apply for jobs now?
YES! I have been looking online and it seems like many places are now posting their new grad jobs. I've already gotten a few calls. This is in CA and I'm looking to move there. It's not too early!

Best states for nursing - salary vs. housing costs
How cold does it get in Wisconsin? COLD!!! There are days in the winter where things get shut down and people can't even leave the house because it is so cold. Can get down to -20 with the windchill. That is not to mention snow storms! Summer can be nice or extremely humid. Fall is nice but doesn't last long. I think WI is a good place to raise a family, pay is decent and cost of living is reasonable (Milwaukee is expensive in my opinion for what it is). I am graduating and moving to CA...I have to get away from this weather. It isn't for everybody but if you're not used to the cold, I would take a trip here in the winter and experience it for yourself.

Is It Too Early To Attend Job Fair?
Heck no! I am also graduating in December and have already started contacting recruiters. Granted, I am planning to move out of state, but many of the recruiters have been very responsive and willing to offer information. Better early than late, once new grad programs have filled. Never hurts to get good contact info either. Good luck! Yay Dec grads!

San D...Sharp's, Scripp's, UCSD, Kaiser...
Anyone have any good info on new grad programs in San Diego? I'm doing all the reading I can, but it is always good to hear from others. I graduate in December and moving to San D from out of state. Any info from those who have "been there" would be great! Thanks.

tips to getting a job out of state
Hello, I am graduating Dec 07 and want to move to San Diego. I have contacted recruiters and applied to a few jobs online already. One recruiter asked if I had plans to come and visit. I could, but is it wise to do that not knowing if I have any prospects...or is that a good way to get my foot in the door. I am trying to start early so that I can get a job where I want. Is anyone else applying out of state? Please help! Thanks.

What is the passing test grade at your school?
We have to have an 85% test average or else you have to retake the class. It is stressful...every point counts so much!

Help with San Diego questions
Hello all, i know there are many many posts on here but some are old so I thought I'd ask those RNs living and working in SD.... I am graduating in Dec and thinking of making the move to SD. Now I realize that the pay is not the greatest, but the chance to live in beautiful SD might just be work it Anyways, I am curious to ask if it is possible for me to get by. I will probably live alone (looks like i can get a decent place for about $1,000/month) won't have car payments (just insurance), student loan payments, and then just the regular stuff. Just wanted to hear from those of you living and working there. I hope I would be able to pay my bills and have at least some left over to save/have fun with! Or would I be better of in SF (i know pay is MUCH better but SD is my first choice). Thanks to all in advance!

Opinions on MATC-Milwaukee?
really? i have a hard time believing there is no waitlist. i applied over three years ago (may of 03) and they told me my estimated clinical start date would be jan of 07. i took a few prerequisites there then transferred to do my clinicals. i've heard from other people the wait list is long. also, they changed it now where you can't even get on the wait list until you've completed all prereqs. parking is expensive. you can get a pass to get a discounted rate in the parking structure, but i never got in because it was ALWAYS full. i've heard pretty good things about the program, and the profs there that i had were good. i will say this though, their staff is horrible (ie: financial aid, registration etc). they don't ever return calls and are hard to get any help from. hope this helps!
