WOW it's been so long.... anywho this school is still only Washington state accredited. It didn't matter!I graduated, passed the NCLEX with 75 questions and got a RN job before graduation! Nationally accredited or not it really depends how hard a student is willing to commit. I LOVE THIS SCHOOL. Did not regret going there at all.

It will cost $14000 for two years..they awarded me a good amount of grant money enough to pay for tuition and most of my books.I know someone who graduated from my school and a lot of them were accepted right away at university of washington. We are affiliated with them. That's why I'm not worrying too much, I really would like to know what a school has to do to get accredited..what are the qualifications? When they come and visit next month what are they going to look for?

Yes a lot of us are scared we're wasting our time and money but very hopeful. We were told we're going to get a visit too in oct. I'm really just hoping for the best. For now I'm counting on the fact it is easy to transfer to a major washington state university after completing ADN..I'm going to have to get my BSN anyway since it will be a requirement sooner or later for every facility. I really don't want to back out now and reapply to other schools who knows when would I have a chance of getting accepted againMy school was accredited when they were only doing LPN and lost it when they started only doing RN.. keeping my fingers crossed

My RN program is only state accredited. It's too late for me to back out since I already started school and purchased all the VERY expensive books and computer apps. My RN program is a new program that just started just a few years ago I was told by faculty that they applied for the national accreditation and it's "processing". My question is, What does it take for a new RN program to be granted with this national accreditation? I heard a lot of horror stories about students graduating and was not able to find jobs. Is there anyone out there who did, recently? I'm not so concerned because I plan to go to a university (accredited) after my ADN to obtain my BSN. Just curious.......

I'm guessing you have not really been bullied before if this is what you can consider bullying. I was bullied lots of times before if I tell you the things mean people have done to me you wouldn't believe me. And this here I call playing games. Maybe he has a crush on you. Remember Helga from hey Arnold? lol... You gotta toughen up youngin'! There are way worse things that could happen. Next time don't wait on anyone to hand you the papers. Stand up and get your own, and if he happens to pass u up again, say "Oh well, life goes on" show him you're a tough cookie. DON'T EVER BE AFRAID TO STAND ALONE! I wouldn't even confront him for what?! you don't need his approval at all. Accept the fact that not everybody is going to like you. It can be a cold cold world.

I'm in WA as well, got into RentonTC's nursing program. I started a new night shift Patient Care Tech job at the hospital and I work full time 36 hours a week. I don't have a choice but to work. And plus it took me two years to land a hospital job I just can't pass it up. I like the idea of having my "foot in the door" since getting a nursing job after graduation can be really hard nowadays.

That's very discouraging.....although this is not the first time I heard this. I know a few people who went to rtc for their lpn and they were very disappointed and I know a girl who is in the RN program now who warned me also. And with all the negative comments I heard I still applied. I took all my pre req's at rtc and I absoulutely love this school. I love all the instructors I had in the past. They were very good.I can't imagine going anywhere else. Hopefully all the bad nursing inatructors several people mentioned to me are all gone and replaced with better ones and all the awful experiences that some students went through are subjective..I want to create an experience of my own.I talked to the nursing advisor about their accreditation. They're washington accredited but not nationally accredited yet since the RN program is very new and it will take a couple years and by the time I graduate it will be...I know you mean well but hopefully my experience with this college is a great one

I almost didn't get in to an RN program...thanks to a wonderful stranger who I came across allnurses.com, I found out that she got into two programs (including the college I applied for)she immediately dropped her spot and I was able to get in because I was first on the waiting list! I was soooooo thankful!I start Nursing school n sept.! I'm a officially a member of class 2015! Woop!!!

Love this post! very encouraging! From what I read and hear about nursing school seems to me it equals stress, depression, anxiety etc. not a lot of great things. It makes me doubt myself a little bit. I wish I can be just a student, but I have a family and a full time night shift job which makes me doubt myself even more. But I always have to remember that I love learning and it comes very easy for me. I love Science, I love nursing. I have to remind myself I'm not forcing myself to do this like for some students who chose nursing thinking they will make money or it's a guaranteed job. I can't imagine doing anything else for a career than nursing. Hopefully my passion and drive will be enough to get me through it.

Keep at it! you're so close. I too have a husband a full time job and a child, and will start nursing school this fall. I know it will be tough but I will ABSOLUTELY do my very best to strive and succeed for the sake of my family. My family will help me get through it Husband, Mother, Brother, Father and if there comes a time they are all busy and tired when I really need to study I am planning to put money aside to hire a back up sitter/housekeeper on some days, it will be money well spent.

I can understand how you feel..I have a 17 month old son, I got accepted into nursing school this fall and I just started a new night shift job at the hospital. I hate to be away from him and I miss him so much when I'm working and I will miss him so much more when I start nursing school. I have to remind myself that I'm going to school to better provide for him and I want to set a great example also. I want him to be proud of mama.When things get hard I look at his photo on my phone screensaver and it makes me push even harder to succeed. When I want to throw my hands up and quit I have to remember I have a little boy depending on me. When I finally come home I make sure to spend time playing cuddling etc. Then on my days off we go to lots of places to have fun.

You're welcome..and btw make sure u prepare questions for them also makes u look much more interested in d position. .. What to ask interviewer How many cna's would I be working with? How many patients would I be responsible for? How many charge nurses on the floor? And do some research on the company too, it'll help a lot..coz you migh be ask why do you want to work for them..And also they're going to ask you about somewhat would you do in a certain scenario...don't forget to look back on your past experiences and incorporate that into answers..

I just got hired at a major hospital for a patient care tech job. Make sure you go over what could be CNA interview questions, for example; Tell me about yourself What are your weaknesses (by the way don't tell them none coz they'll know your lying) what I said for me was I could be shy at first but once I meet and get to know my co workers I could be a little talkative. Tell me about the time you made a mistake at your last job Why did u leave your last job? What are your short term and long term goals Why do you want to be a Cna? What do you think is the difference between working at a Long term care and a hospital? These are some of the questions I was asked I wore a simple light pink blouse and black business pants and heels, natural looking make up and my hair tied I had a binder with me with copies of my resumes and IDs, certifications etc. Good luck!

Reading your post makes me 100x more excited! I got into RN school this Sept. and I'm very ecstatic! I will be working full time as well and I am a parent to a 17 month old boy, busy busy busy! but I am so ready to take on the challenge. This is what I've been waiting for. What I've been doing lately is googling the nursing subjects I'm taking this fall and I've found lots of review questions, tests flashcards, etc and I've been reading them. It's a lot of A&P stuff. I don't have the books just yet or the materials. I'll be getting them soon though. I am sooooo ready to start!

@justbeachynurse yes I'll definitely ask before I do so. I thought about it not being allowed, but I thought I would try and ask just to see if I can record. I sure don't want to be kicked out for that reason. @moonchild lol yes I will be very very busy but I have to work to help my husband pay the bills, I have no choice and I think it'll be a good thing to gain hospital experience now while I'm a PCT, I might be easier to land a nursing job at the same hospital when I graduate. @meanmaryjean I understand your concern I only have to work 3 days out of the week and I would try and schedule it on the weekends, my boss is really nice and understanding when I told her my situation and even before I had a family I can function really well on 4 hours of sleep. lol I stayed busy, and call me weird but I don't like to sleep sometimes just because there's just so much to do in very little time. @kcsmira Thank you so much for the encouragement! I know it's doable. I like hearing stories from other people who has the same situation as me and succeeded. My mother for example, she worked night shifts, wife, mother, no car caught the bus, no washing machine or dryer not even a working faucet, she had to get our water from a well and she even studied using a candle coz couldn't afford electricity. and she graduated. (this was long time ago when we were poor still living in another country)

Thanks for the replies! @adrianna yes I thought about buying a tape recorder on days that I'm really really tired and cnt focus. @ vanessa I'm planning on working and I want to wait until a per diem position opens up then I'm going to apply for it... what did u all do to stay up? Was weight gain an issue, I heard some stories about that with night shift workers and nursing students...

I am starting this fall Sept. 19. I am also starting a new full time NIGHT shift job as a patient care technician at a hospital so I'm twice as anxious. I will be working from 7pm - 7:30 am three nights a week and straight to school from 8:00 am to 2:30pm. yikes! I'll try and take it one day at a time.

Hello all!, I got into an RN program this fall 2013 and was recently hired as a NIGHT SHIFT patient care technician at a hospital YAY!. I am a wife and a parent to a 17 month old boy. Any one out there whose on the same boat as me? a full time student/night shift worker and a parent. Any advice on how to manage. Thank you so much, I'm a little scared that I might be overwhelmed.

I got a list from the bookstore...lists of books and materials for the first and second year of nursing...I guess that's the old list...
