  1. Well if it were me I'd probably keep quiet about the aspiration thing, but the reinjection thing is just bad nursing, I'd have told my instructor. That is dangerous and someone needs to make sure she knows she's doing something wrong and potentially harmfull! PS Good luck with the NCLEX.
  2. Didn't read the end ones....congratulations!
  3. I just learned a ton right now. You guys are so smart.
  4. I dunno. We have the same type of program in AZ at NAU...but that was 16 months in class am from what I'm hearing the programm is a total bust. Administrators are complaining that nurses are coming out with not even the basic clinical knowledge and are hesitant even to hire nurses who come out of programs like this. Seriously no offense, but I cringe at the thought of having a nurse with one year of study under his/her belt...just as a patient, not even thinking about the liability of a charge nurse.
  5. Did she not know that as a nurse there is a strong possibility that she may be working holidays? I figure this, why do I deem ONE day in the entire year to make important when I should really be making EVERY SINGLE DAY important to me and my children's relationship. Besides, what better selfless act to give on the day to celebrate the birth of christ than taking care of someone that really needs you?
  6. I don't understand, maybe I'm not getting something. If the Dr. said clean him up and take him to his mother, why did you hold him for 4 hours? Why didnt' you just give him to the mom right after you cleaned him? Does it take 4 hours to clean a baby?
  7. Yich no...off of a HOSPITAL floor? OMG...I can't imagine if I knew someone gave me anything off of a hospital floor....pillow cases, sheets, nasal cannulas...everything gets burned. Those floors are nasty.
  8. I thought I would hate 12 hr. shifts but I just love them. Instead of breaking my day up, I know where I'm going to be for that whole day, and when I have more whole days off it makes me feel as though I'm spending more quality time w/ my family instead of short hours every single day. IMO the 12 hours just fly by. I hardly even notice I'm doing 12s instead of 8s. Then also if I work a bonus shift, It doesn't feel like I'm there every day of the week...I still have 3 days to play with instead of 1.
  9. I agree.
  10. Hmmm, at my hospital CNA's make $10 (more acutally) and do all that stuff. LPNs do the exact same as RNs but push and give narcs. I'd say LPNs make around $16.
  11. No no no no no. You can work as an MA or NA under a Dr. supervision, but never a nurse. Just like a Dr., you are a licensed professional and cannot represent yourself as such unless you really are.
  12. Yeah google it, you've got to come up with something.
  13. $20k is very good for a BSN...I've paid $30k for my BA I'm not even using. The cost of my AAS degree will be around $5000.
