  1. I'm curious to know who has or is using private student loans to help cover their cost of living if they aren't working. I have two children and daycare is expensive, as is everything else in life. Their childcare is costing me 1300.00 a month alone, and I just can't swing it! How does the loan process work for most school? If I've already been approved, when do I receive that money? I'm just in a rut :/ I HAVE to get through nursing school!!
  2. I have to agree with HouTX. I just bought a surface and I am in love! What's even better is that Word, Office, Powerpoint and Notebook come preloaded at 2013 level. It runs fast, and Bestbuy has a bundle deal going on right now with a keyboard attachment. I'm hoping with as small as it is, it will really help me when I'm taking notes during class. Not sure about the apps you get on it though I am strictly keeping it for school and REFUSE to download anything like facebook or games since they can easily become a distraction!
  3. https://allnurses.com/pennsylvania-state-nursing/penn-state-altoona-819824.html Check this thread out! These ladies will probably be able to answer most if not all of your questions. If they can't I'm sure they can refer you to someone. I wish I could be of help but I'm in the Associates program :) Good luck!
  4. I start Aug. 26th! I have orientation and uniform ordering on June 24th :) I'm so darn excited and ready to get started!
  5. You saw a geisinger doc huh? lol I had the same problem BUT I went to med-express paid 30 bucks and I got the second part of my tb test done there. (I was able to get the first step done at geisinger, just not the second)
  6. You make it happen...You find time to study, and you just DO. There really is nothing else to it! Get yourself a good planner and write all your deadlines down. Any moment you have to spare, dedicate it to your studies, even if that means taking books to the bathroom with you while you do your business. With the willpower anyone can accomplish ANYTHING! Good luck!
  7. Jealous!! Our orientation isn't until June :/ Until then I am working my butt(and wallet) off getting all these darn compliance's completed.
  8. Has anyone else started their compliance's? I just started mine, only after paying and arm and a leg
  9. I'm a new nursing student as well starting this fall! I agree, some of these posts about how dreadfully hard nursing school is, are quite intimidating! I had a 4.0 GPA throughout my pre-reqs, have two children, and have a husband who is just now leaving the Army. I get extremely nervous after reading these forums at times wondering how in the world I will manage if its as bad as everyone says it is. I am currently a Medical Assistant and have worked prior to starting my nursing journey. I hope that in itself will help me out in the actual program.
  10. Congrats! I also start this fall and am beyond excited! I'm so envious you orientation is just a week and a half away! I have to wait until June 24th :/ Congrats again!
  11. He's all yours now! My shift is over. He's been hitting the call button all night.
  12. Congrats! Where are you going? I too was accepted and the packet we received that had our "to do" list looks grueling LOL Background Checks, Physicals, CPR, Immunization Titers..oh my!
  13. I would assume so. I would apply for the FASFA if I were you, the worst that could happen is to be turned down. But I don't know anything for sure.
  14. Yes it should be the BLS (Basic Lifesavers) course for healthcare providers, from my understanding. :) Very eager to meet a few of you ladies!
  15. Yes ma'am it is. I already have a cpr mask though. I don't think they require you to purchase one but I think that's something you can do when the class is. See you there! :)
