  1. Hey everyone! I am also beginning in May! I am so ready, a little nervous but excited too! I am currently studying the dosage as they advised. I plan on working one day a week, in order to fully devote myself to pursuing my dream. Best of luck to you all and hopefully we will meet in class =)
  2. Awesome! What do you think of the program so far? Thank you for the tips!
  3. I was originally just going to volunteer while in nursing school, to somehow get my foot in the door that way. I love volunteering so much. After much thought and research I am 80% sure I want to become a CNA while in school, even if it is just per diem. Not only will this be vital as a future nurse, but I am hoping it will land me a job on a unit in the hospital setting. Setting goal after goal and planning is what its about. I have failed and fallen many times on this journey but I have learned so much about myself along the way. Thank you all and good luck!
  4. certainly not for RNs! Why would you not want a solid foundation in the required courses, such as anatomy? Maybe try to become a CNA then?
  5. Where there is a will, there is a way. If this is truly your dream then get after it. Do not let time, people or any obstacle convince you that is not possible. God bless.
  6. I want to be a nurse because I want to make a difference in patient care. When I was pregnant with my only child I went through a really rough time. I was high risk, and my baby was small. There was so much unknown, and doctors were not sure if she was going to be able to breathe on her own. My OBGYN was a jerk! He had terrible bedside manner. I would always leave his office crying, worrying about the unknown. My nurse was absolutely amazing. She was so calm and comforting. I realized that God was in control and all I really wanted was a calming, supportive response from medical staff. My nurse was like my angel. She made me feel calm, and she was so gentle. Bless her heart. I still talk to her to this day. I have been working tirelessly to get into nursing school. I will never give up! I want to the Lord's work through my nursing care. Until I begin nursing school, I have been volunteering at a hospital and I am fully aware how hard nurses work. I am ready. Thanks for reading!
  7. wow that made my heart sink. That patient is no longer suffering. We can find peace in that. God bless you!
  8. I replied on Saturday! That is when I finally got a chance to check my atlas. It says the deadline to reply is monday. I am praying that I get a seat! I will be checking my atlas email like a crazy woman lol
  9. Thanks! It is in Gods hands, so I shall not worry! Best of luck to you and Congrats!
  10. They sent me the email Thursday and I just responded earlier today! I am kicking myself that I did not check my atlas email earlier! I have been busy studying. =(
  11. Im confused? So you do have a seat, correct?
  12. Awesome! Did you get the initial email on Thursday too?
  13. Did you ladies get a reply after you accepted the seat? It says its contingent upon first come, first serve? I am staying hopeful!!
  14. I got an email too! I just responded! I have so many mixed emotions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so hopeful that they will give me a seat!!! I will be praying for us! Congrats!!!
  15. Amen! I feel the same way! I am healthy and I know I will get my jewels in heaven! I am doing this for God's kingdom! There is no dollar amount that will make me as happy as all the love I have in my life. Money is an important tool, and we all need it but it is not everything!!!!!
  16. I appreciate this post! I am ready for the challenge of nursing school. I realize it will be far from easy and it will be very different than my pre req classes. I volunteer at a hospital on a weekly basis and lately I have been meeting burned out nurses that HATE their job. It will not discourage me, but I take it all into consideration. This post will be filed away in that mental cabinet. Best of luck to you!
  17. That's awesome! Sounds like you have it all under control! I hope the program is better, because like you I also had a good experience at Valencia before I went on to UCF. I am working on a minor now and studying like crazy to improve my TEAS score to get into UCF nursing. My grades and GPA are good, and this is the last hurdle before nursing school. I am determined to make it. Good luck with your classes! =)
  18. Hi! I know you started the program already right? How is it? Are they organized? By the looks of how they run their "nursing advising" I am a little worried. It is so hard for me to get in contact with a nursing advisor at Valencia. Hope you're loving the program along with all the work that comes with it!
  19. Hi all! Has anyone who has recently been accepted received anything after you accepted the offer to the program? I have not received anything. I went over to the West Campus and it is nearly impossible to talk to the nursing advisor. I don't get it. It is very frustrating. I at least want confirmation that they received my acceptance reply to the nursing program. Anyways how is everybody doing while they wait? I am a student at UCF, currently taking classes for a minor, volunteering once a week, and studying to retake the teas! I am hoping to apply to the concurrent programs. Have a blessed day!
  20. I have been hearing the same thing! Girls starting two semesters early!! That would be amazing! I would leap at that opportunity! Have you heard anything about your app yet?
  21. Congrats and thanks for the tip! Im sure you are excited! Relocating is not an option for me but I am dedicated to making my dream happen by any means! Good luck!
  22. I am hoping we can start sooner, that seems to be the trend!! I got accepted in June, I haven't received an email since accepting my offer into the program, have you?
  23. Yay me too! Congrats! Im really hoping I can start sooner or get accepted to UCF nursing! What did you score on teas? I am studying to improve my score =)
  24. Congrats on being accepted! It will happen for us, we just have to be patient. All the waiting can be stressful but I am focused on improving myself in all aspects as I wait. =)
  25. I think we will start sooner. I just applied and got an admittance for Fall 2014. Im praying I start asap, but im still applying to UCF Basic program. Did you apply their too? You have a strong GPA! My gpa is 3.6, 4.0 Pre req and a not so great teas score, but I am studying to improve my score now. I know Valencia is getting ready to bump up requirements so maybe this will help with a shorter wait list?
