Yeah, also if anyone has been interviewed by Holy Name Hospital for an RN position, how long did it take for them to contact you back about their decision to hire you?

Hello everyone, I didn't see any topics about this, but is anyone familiar with the orientation program for Holy Name Hospital and their starting salary for new graduate rn? I cannot find any current information about this! Any little bit will be greatly appreciated!

You are fine, people were accepted with under 3.3 gpa. They dont just go by that alone for admission.

Yeah might be the part time absn class time. But usually you will always have all lectures in same classroom and you may or maybe not have your exams the same classroom too. Sometimes we used a computer lab classroom that was in the lower level for exams

You can start the application I believe, but the school uses NursingCas application process. So at the time I applied i had to have all the prequisite requirements completed to even fill out the application properly and submit it. I finished my preqs in dec '12 and had my application submitted by the end of jan '13/begining of feb '13 so submitting it asap after finishing prereqs is important because NursingCAS takes a while to process everything.

Hey everyone i entered with the summer program originally. I cant remember at the moment but i sent my applications to the school around the last week of jan 2013 or begining of febuary and got my acceptance letter late march-early april time. It was enough time to complete my immunization requirements. You must have your tb shot and flu shot and whatever else cleared. The school goes crazy with that. Clinicals started first semester around the 2nd month in. most of us had to take out loans. Work study may be available for you, they offered it to me but i didnt have time. Financial aid office never gave me any issues and if i had a question about my term bill or needing to follow up on the disbursment of a private loan i was always able to get that settled quickly. My financial advisor was really great. my first clinical was placed locally at university hospital. from the second semester and on i was placed in clinicals that were more "south", despite that the fact that i was residing in newark. i did clinicals in raritan bay, robert wood johnson, st peters hospital...your clinical placement and groups are decided by whoever is coordinating clinicals for that specific semester the curriculum and class day schedule per level are posted on the schools website :) i cant remember class dates but here is the current curriculumn Accelerated BS in Nursing at Rutgers School of Nursing everything was the same for me except second semester i had 5 classes it seems they removed gerontology. Hey Guys! I just graduated from newark campus full time absn program in January 2015. If you want to know anything let me know!! Totally willing to help~~ Each program has its goods and bads but honestly over all i had a good time i glad i went. The professors were good for the most part and the financial aid office always got back to me . I took out the schools insurance and never had an issue with my health records being lost. I took advantage of that insurance too it was awesome. Theres a lot i can share just let me know :)!

I was going to say, try and boost your gpa before graduating with another class and graduate with the other degree. Then take chem later somewhere else like at a community college...and then just apply to an accelerated program. BUT... accelerated programs are tough....and I don't know where you're from, but the one I went to only allows you to have 1 C. You get 2 C's in your transcript and they kick you out. Also, you only have 2 chances to withdraw before failing a class, so you can only take the class over 1 more time. If you fail it the second time around you are kicked out the program. Thats how most nursing programs in my area are in general though...So I don't know how good of an idea that is in your situation. Wish you the best. Good Luck

When I applied, there was no interview. I don't know if it has changed now though since the "official" merger. Also, if you decide not to attend/accept enrollment for the semester you originally applied for (example: you applied and got accepted for spring semester but then you decide you actually want to do fall) then we had to reapply for that semester. But, if you start the semester and need to take a leave of absence for whichever reason, they did not make us reapply to the program when we were ready to come back.

Unfortunately, the trick didn't work for me. So I think it's not that credible anymore. A couple students from my class didn't get the "good pop up" either. But they passed! So I wouldn't just rely on that.

May I share my experience? I walked in there thinking I would FINISH at 75. Thats how confident I was. Tell me why I saw those questions go from 75...to 100...to 150.. to 200... to yes.. ALLLLLL THE WAY HOME 265. Pretty sure the computer was in love with me and didn't want to let me go. It was a one sided love. I DID NOT plan to be there for 5 hours. I seriously did not know atleast half of the content i was being asked on. Why did i have so many of those "put these order questions?" I thought no body got those. I was flipping out. I kept passing up on my breaks because I kept think nahhh i'll be done soon...but when it finally gave me the last questions and shut off. I was POSITIVE. ABSOLUTELY SURE that I failed. I barely ate for those 48hours after the exam. But you know what. I passed. I was preparing myself today to tell kaplan imma need my money back so i can take the exam again cuz your online review content was not helpful. Don't flip out. Please dont be like me and starve yourself from the anxiety and nerves. Whatever happens, happens. But seriously, don't let it get to you. You already passed the bigger struggle. Graduating from nursing school.

I'm a former rutgers absn student. But when I applied I had to input all my transcript information. For every college/university I went to, every semester and of course my prereq and whatever school that was from.

This post is a little late but I can share some of my experiences with Rutgers SON (formerly UMDNJ). I just graduated on 01/2015. Some people drop out of the program but it wasn't really a lot. Some people get pushed back a semester too depending on which class you need to drop or if you fail and have to take it again. The rules for that is really specific though. But retention seems okay. I am not sure about employment but my friends from previous semester all got hired. In regards to the School & Program: Okay, it really was not that hectic. I rarely had an issue with financial aid, but if I did, i would just call and they took care of the problem fairly quickly. The same goes for their immunization compliance flu shot/tb stuff. Just make sure you get that stuff done every year because they will give you a hard time about attending clinical and class if you are not compliant. The lecture times and place...there really wasn't an issue except sometimes on exam dates we were moved to a different room. most of the time it was in the same room as our lectures though. But the class schedules were never really that hectic. Exams are on the computer. I had just 1 occasion where the computers were not working and we had to take a printed out version of the exam. Also, every semester we were tested with a standardized ATI exam. It's suppose to be like a mock NCLEX exam and our score on that counted as 5% of our grade. ATI testing is used for only certain classes though. For the first semester i believe it is just 1 class that requires you to take an ATI test at the end but then for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th semester you will have to take ATI for more than just 1 class. Clinical dates....OKAY this really depends on which clinical professor and location you get placed with, but in general you wont know which clinical group you will be in until the first semester starts. Yeah, you will have clinical in the First semester. The semesters after that, they kinda try to tell you earlier but still i never found out which group i was in until maybe a week before the semester starts..I would've just liked to have known earlier so i can prepare transportation arrangements if needed without rushing...and some of us were placed a bit from where we actually lived. They didn't really take that into consideration. You can try speaking with the person who coordinates the clinical groups but for the last 2 semesters it was nearly impossible to get swapped. ..I myself had to drive about 25miles away for some. If you miss clinical you MUST make it up. So.. yah having an extra clinical on the week can be tiring so try not to miss. In Terms of Graduation & NCLEX: Pinning ceremony was shortly after my last final exam. Thats just how it worked out for us. It was literally 3 days later. NCLEX process is long. It takes the school a couple weeks to send out your graduation letters to the board of nursing. My only advise is to start everything else early. The NJ application process takes a lot of time also. I took my exam this month and passed. So far, most of the people from my semester have been successful in passing the NCLEX. The same goes for most of the people from the semester before me. To be honest, I think the school did prepare me enough for NCLEX but I still decided to enroll with KAPLAN. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to message me! if it's any consolation I had C's in my prereqs, Statistics and Child Psych. But I had A's in A&P 1 & 2 and a B in Micro and Chem. I had taken A&P II and Chem in the summer, so I know what the 6 weeks feels like. I had no prior experience in nursing. I was not a 4.0 student. My undergrad gpa was 3.1. That didn't mean I didn't work hard for my grade. I applied to 3 schools in my area and was accepted by all of them. I just started in May. I think my essay and recommendation letters did it. I surprise myself every day because I am getting through classes that are 5x's harder than any course I did in reg undergrad. I think it's because I'm finally where I want to be! Show your determination and please don't stop! Going for your BSN is an excellent career choice don't let this one class deter you.

I know when the first saw it was like "are you kidding me??". And the reply back was "No we are not kidding!" Lol. In terms of the 'recommended books'. I spoke to a student doing level 1 now and she is doing fine with out them.

I know how you feel. I did not do well on my first exam in microbio. But I knew I had to kick it up a knotch in my studying. It's not fun, but that's what you have to do. Don't feel bad about it. The fact that you can still take a couple more tests is a good thing! I ended up with a B in micro bio and a C in my statistics prereq. But hey, it was still meeting the requirement for the schools I applied to and what do you know, I recently got accepted into an accelerated bsn program. You'll be okay, just study a bit more for the next tests and try the your best. Best of luck in your studies!! You can do it :)!

i took a&p I during spring and a&p II in summer session 1... if i had a choice i think i would've liked to take a&p II during the fall instead...the summer session for me was short and a bit rushed towards the end.
