  1. Did you accept the position? and if you did can you share your experience so far? I am currently doing my NP and would like to get into this type of role when I am done. Amber
  2. How much did they offer you? I'm just trying to compare what they quoted me on. -thank you
  3. thank you!! I am going to check it out!
  4. where is a good neighborhood to live in? I start in a few weeks and I want to be settled before I start. Any suggestions?
  5. Thank you for sharing your experience!!! I am kind of in the same boat you were in when you wanted to move. I always told myself I can always come back to chicago if it doesn't work out. You are right, if you don't experience first hand yourself you will live in regret with "what if's". So I hope it works out for me. Chicago pay is good but too many shooting for me. I am looking into the Orlando/Tampa area at Florida Hospital.
  6. My insurance too is about 200+ with me and a child and its not even PPO, I can only see doctors within their network. I live in chicago trying to relocate to florida. I make 28.55 here in chicago but florida hospital only offered me 23?!!! I was shocked. Anyone have any suggestions?
  7. I had an interview in Miami they offered 26.09 base and FH offered only 23 something. I have almost 2 years in med/surg. What is the pay now? I think 23 is low for me, plus with a 2 year contact. I feel like they are trying to play me. sugguestions?
  8. thanks..yea I thought that was a little low and the whole contract thing kind of scares me. He did offer me a bonus but still i would like 25/26. If they decide to move forward after my phone interviews than I def have to be careful what I am signing up for.
  9. How do you like it? I have received a call from HR for a PCU and med/surg 2. Two different HR persons and I wanted to see what each had to say for pay rate, because I know its up to HR for pay amount, Med-surg 2 was about 23 something which is a major paycut for me. I make 28.55 here in chicago but relocating to orlando in march. I had interviewed for baptist health in miami which offered me 26.09/hr, but I decided miami was not going to be a good location for me. I have my BSN and about 1.5 years of experience in Neuro/stroke unit. I thought I would be worth more than $23. Plus how is the cost of living? I don't want to get stuck in a contact for 2 years and struggle. Any suggestions?
  10. I am from Chicago looking to move and actually have an interview with Winnie Palmer next week!!! I guess I will find out what they would start me off at, but I have no experience in that department. I currently work on a neuro/stroke unit so I don't know if they count that against me. I also interviewed for Baptist health in Miami and they pay they offered me was 26.55 so it is less than what I make now 28.23/hr. I am ready to leave the North Pole so if things don't work out I could always come back or go somewhere else. "if you don't like where you are, MOVE. You are not a tree."
  11. I recently got a job offer for Baptist in Miami they offered me about 26 something an hour and then def for working nights, its a float pool position. I am still in the works of making my way down there and haven't set up a date to start. As for experience I have been in home health for a year and on a neuro/stroke unit for a year. I am from Chicago so pay here is higher but so are the taxes, fl doesn't have state taxes. I am not quite how cost of living will effect me, so if anyone has any suggestions on what neighborhoods in Miami are good to live in, please let me know.
  12. where is south fl do you work? I recently got a job offer at Baptist float pool. do you or anyone you know who works there can tell me more about it, how they like it, the units and so forth. Also what neighborhoods are good to live in?
  13. Do you know any good neighborhoods in Miami, I recently got a job offer for Baptist health as a float nurse. And if anyone is a float nurse at Baptist or works there how do you like it?
  14. I know this is an old post but I am also looking into moving back to St. Pete. I know I will probably take a pay cut but I am almost ok with it because of all the other things I can enjoy, like life. So if you are still have connections with the pool manager, I am interested. I currently work on the neuro/stroke unit and floated to other med/surg/tele floors. Thank you for your time. =)
  15. Thank you Cococure, unfortunately I do not know anyone at Winnie, but I do have a BSN. I will keep my fingers crossed and continue to keep in touch with HR. Thank you again for your response
  16. I have also applied to Winnie Palmer Hospital in the postpartum mother baby unit and I do not have any experience in this area. I currently work on a neuro/stroke floor but I want to take a different direction in my nursing career. Can you or anyone give me any advice on how to move forward in this direction and what are their expectations on this unit?
  17. Hi everyone, I am going to Miami next week and have an interview with Baptist Health. I have almost 1 year of experience in a hospital setting and previously worked for a home health agency. I am from Chicago and plan to move if I get the job. I just wanted to know more about what I should expect in my interview and how is your overall experience working at baptist. Thank you
  18. I am also interested in moving to florida from Chicago. I had a phone interview with baptist health a few weeks ago and will be in Miami next week and hoping to get that in person interview. I have almost 1 year experience in a hospital setting prior to that was home health because it was really hard to get a job here as well as a new grad. Anyways I just want to know your thoughts on Baptist and what should I expect if I do interview with them.
  19. What unit do you work on? Does anyone work on the neuro/stroke unit ?
  20. Hi Jen I just had a phone interview and it I think it went pretty well, the recruiter said she would forward my information to the nurse manager for the floor I applied for and most likely to have another phone interview. Currently I live out of state and if offered the job I would move to Miami, do you have any suggestions of which area to move to?
  21. Would you mind looking at my cover letter and resume? I am a new grad since March 2013 and still have not had any luck landing a job
  22. I also have been checking the website daily for the new grad position and I still have not seen anything since June, when will be the next posting?
  23. I just checked my application status and still says assessment completed. I am hoping that my application will go through. I wish more hospitals will accept new grads this is so fustrating. You would think getting through nursing school is hard enough but I feel like finding a job is worse than any final.
