  1. Has anyone gone to a nursing program out of town. Imean like more than an hour away when you have a child/ren or family. Im a single mom and I didnt get into my program im applying to programs in other cities ranging from 1-3 hours away. The schools farthest away are actually somewhat close to where my sisters live with their family. Realistically, even if I got iinto a school, I really dont see things working out. But iim so desperate and a little pathetic I just want to see the words accepted and fantasize about it all working out smh lol. Has an arrangement like this worked for anyone? I just want to become a nurse, I can feel it in my bones!!! Also I would feel so horrible if my daughter were in daycare all the time.
  2. I feel like I have no chance at my nursing program but I will apply anyways. But my school wont allow you to retake but it offers medical and general microbiology. I took general last semester and got a B. I was going to take medical and try for an A but couldnt find adequate childcare. Anyways, my point is although I can't repeat my school will accept general or medical micro. Is your school the same? I hope you get in on the firsr try though. Good luck!
  3. Thank you to all the mamas going to schol for replying. It definetely can be an additional struggle to go to school with kids, especially for those who work or have multiple children. Kudus to all of you! I will be study when i can and hope to tryong different metjods to help my baby sleep throug the night. That way i can study or even do my nails ; ) Thank you all for your advice and I can't wait for WHEN we are RNs
  4. It can get stressful trying to pull childcare together can be streasful. I took online classes soon after giving birth ( though in hindsight I wish I would have waited a semester). Good luck!!
  5. My daughter does co sleep. I breastfeed so it does make it easier. But of course she's past the age of needing to wake up at night to nurse but she has amind of her own. I noticed some molars coming through which has made her night wakings worse. Its crazy how much teething affects them. Last semester when I took physio was absolutely hellish trying to study. I think I cried a few times lol. I b only have one I can't imagine 3 and going through school!
  6. Id retake all those classes. Some schools count retake against you, but I think some just count highest grade or others will average them. Do you know why you are not doing well? How long do you study, do you go to tutoring? Before retaking, you need to figure out why your not passing. Good luck!
  7. Those are nice ideas. I need to head to the craft store pronto. My daughter gets tired of her toys fast. Lol your right, the more we stress the more antsy and clingy they get. Its imperative esp when you have kids to not fall behind. Thanks I will talk to her doctor but I truly think she just wants me near her id gladlt accept any advice. Thanks. It can be harder with kids but they also push us.
  8. What a nice system you ladies have. And I applaud you for being able to manage family life and school.
  9. Funny I just picked up a book from the library about getting baby to sleep through the night. Yes im extremely desperate. Though im not done with the book, it does stress having a routine which I really do not have one. Andi really wish I had been more serious about this when my daughter was younger cause this girl has a lot of will power lol. I must get to the point I can get her to sleep and she stays down. At times I feel like im gonna scream. Im not angry at her, honestly Its my fault. Until prob around 9-12mos, I dont quite remember, id hold her nearly all night! Thank you for your advice.
  10. I dont think anythings wrong with that. You know that sounds like a great deal I do cosleep with my daughter and she has a sixth sense and wakes up when im not there. Honestly, sometimes I fo need some space but studying in bed with her may solve both our problems though I do eventually want her to be able to go down and stay down. But in the meantime I have a test next week haha.
  11. There is a daycare at my school but they do not allow you to apply until the child is 18 mos. My daughter will be 1 months by next semester So hopefully I can get her in. It would be awesome to have her on campus. Very exciting thought lol. I hope everything works out. Thats great you have 3 kids and still manage school. Im having a tough time with just one!
  12. Have a 16 month old and am a single mom. The only chance I have to study is at night after she goes to sleep which is fine. But she wakes up so many times during the night and each time it takes 30 mins + to get her back to sleep. The last few nights its been worse I really need to study for a test coming up I really have no one and cant afford to put her in daycare extra days. Im just getting so frusterated and down. I just got her to sleep *prob took about 30 mins and literally 5 mins later shes crying and comes to find me. I can only imagine how I will fare if I get into a nursing program. Im taking micro now. Its my last prereq : '( I feel like this is a lost cause. Anyone gone through something similar. How are you able to study with kids
  13. I took an English class and it wasn't bad at all. But I was pregnant and so so sick half the time o didnt go to clasd. Seeing I crack in the ground would make me heave : ((. I think I turned in most assignments and papers but missed many quizes and ended with a C as well as a fashion clss I took the semester. These classes were both fairly easy but I didnt do well my gpa took a plummet. It really did takr a lot for me to even go the times I went I felt absolutely miserable so in a way im not devastated. B i truly did the best I could at the time. *shudders* I detested my first trimester.
  14. No lie i am feeling and having the exact same thoughts as you. Im feeling so so down I thought I got aced my micro test but ended up with an 85. Im really having doubts im not good enough, and not capable. Im trying so hard. This is my last prereq and got ab A in chem and Bs in anatomy and physio. I dont eveb know what to do at this point *tears*. I would be happy to even have a low A. I feel like such an idiot. But I will wait till my daughter goes to sleep ans study. I refuse to give up. Just keep pushing yourself. Im gonna go to the tutor lab tues and see if someone can help me... maybe try a tutor as well? I wish you the best of luck. I understand how you feel.
  15. I feel the same as you. Feeling very frusterated and depressed. Im samr age as you. Ive been in school way too long.
  16. You sound exactly like me. I was so distraught Iin physio I'd get a B on what part of the test then a D in another section. Or id do good in lecture but bad in lab, once we took a lab test I had no idea we were gonna have. I felt everyone was probaly getting As so easy ans I was struggling with a C. I am a single mon with a baby who wouwould (and still does) wake up a million times to nurse. And trust me shes not hungry. I was soo stressed and frusterated, and tired. HJust finding time to study was a challenge and I felt so down. But I worked on the prereqs for so long and wanted to be a nurse so long, I couldn't give up! I needed vBulletin to get at least a B but my grade really dropped when I got a C on that lab quiz I didnt study for. After that test, the only way for me to get a B in the class was if I aced my final (last test). I changed the way I studied and gave it my best and ended up acing the test and got my B in the class. An A is much better but I was happy I got a B. It means a lot because I was struggling not only in school but with life lol but I pushed myself v when I thought there was absolutely no hope for me. Giirl you can do it. Fight the good fight : ) Talk to your teacher tell him I study hard but keep getting Cs, do you have any advice for me? Most teachers want and are willing to help.
  17. You can marry a billionaire : ) I also volunteer at a hospital and most of the nurses ive talked to enjoy what they do. And though thry may not be at thr top of thehhierarchy, ive met plenty of snooty nurses so im sure they think highly of themselve lol.
  18. Its nice to see that ppl get into a nursing program w/o having straight As. I have some Bs that are making me so stressed esp b/c I live in Norcal. Op I havr nothing more to add except youll get in somewhere your prereq gpa sounds really good
  19. Youd be surprised what you can handle. I usually go to bed around 3. I haven't had 8-10 hrs of straight sleep in nearly a year and a half!! And im a prenursing student. Sleep deprivation is real but you get used to it. At first i thought I was gonna die i was soo tired no I was jaded. I feel like that sonetimes still...
  20. Im a single mom to a 15 month old. On my last prereq yay! I study at night but even so my daughter wakes up a million times so im starting to get her to sleep or at leasy be able to self soothe and fall back asleep. I hope that makes it easier to manage school and everything else. Its great to see so many other mothers pursuing their dreams. Good luck !!
  21. Lol I don't know what im struggling in sonetimes I just feel ill prepared and im getting discouraged and frusterated. I have a baby who wakes up a bazillion times at night and its my only time to study. Shes 15 months so hopefully shell sleep through the night very soon. Im a singlr mom so no help : ( idk how id get through the nursing progran. Another stress!! I think I thought micro was gonna be so easy so I think im in kinda a shock still lol. Its a lot of work just like the other sciences : / My school has a tutor lab but last time I went they said thet didn't have any tutors available for micro. I know many of the tutors there last senester got into some type of program *shruggs* ill have to try back but I really can't afford to pay extra money for day care. Are you applying to other schools besides the one you currently attend or are you willing to transfer?
  22. I think you responded to my post about anxiety. Your very close to a B so for sure you will g et a B of you keep trying. Does your school have a tutoring lab? And well at least its not a science course. Im taking micro and got 77 on first test. I wont know what I got on the 2nd until tues. I realize I left out a lot of ibfo on one of the essay questions that I knew I just didnt mention. Im getting depressed if I dont get an A im screwed. Im so stressed now my eye has been twitching lately! !!I think we need to stop stressing im sure its making us do worse. Youll get into your program!!
  23. I think I have post test anxiety. I always think ive failed a test then feel as if I screwed my furure : ( I have no advice but I hope you get some help and overcome or manage your anxiety.
  24. I know someone who had a C B and A in her sciences but I think she had As in other prereqs and it was by lottery. Her first time applying ; )
