  1. I graduated in May, passed my NCLEX exam in July. 1) over 20, ones all over my state, a few in surrounding states and various ones on that usajobs site. 2) 5-7 new grad postings, though many of the regular postings listed new grads will be considered. 3) I heard back from 3, I had 2 phone interviews, a third that was cancelled, and an in-person interview. 4) I have had one job offer and I have taken the position.
  2. You have to remember that the passing line was increased in April 2013, so the current pass rates are likely several percentage points lower than those listed there. *destroys encouragement*
  3. Thanks, glad to be done with that step in the process.
  4. QT1:64 QT2:57 QT3:62 QT4:61 QT5:52 QT6:64 QT7:62 Readiness:62 Qbank: 64%; 100% completed. Scores were generally high 50s-mid 60s for the majority of the time. Towards the end my scores were mid 60s-mid 70s. NCLEX-RN: 75 questions and done (passed).
  5. I generally put whatever books we'd need next semester on a wishlist on Amazon and I'd check the list twice a day to every other day for drops in the prices. Doing this I got a great deal of text books for only 1-1.5x the rental price. I also have a Giant Eagle card that I would use when purchasing Amazon gift cards from their store to buy my books (Fuel perks), as well as a Discover card to purchase the gift cards. I'd also sometimes purchase them used instead if I felt that I wouldn't need the online materials for the course. In my program we made use of those online materials for only the Fundamentals class really (to watch the procedure videos).
  6. So basically the take away is if you are brought to the credit card page you almost definitely did not pass. But in the one-in-a-million chance it's wrong it would behoove you to wait for the official results before paying again, as they don't have a way to reimburse you your 200$ (which is why you get the good-pop-up after passing).
  7. I have been short of an A by 1-2 points around 4 times throughout nursing school, and by 5-6 points another 2 times. It wouldn't suck as much if we used the +/- system that the rest of the university uses.
  8. If you make flash cards utilize this system for determining ones to review (though you may want to review them more frequently than the example here) Leitner system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The act of making flash cards can help as well, or simply writing the information that you need to learn can help. I also find taking practice exams and reading through the rationale for why the correct answer is correct helps also. Reading through the lecture power points and actively trying to identify what is likely to be most important, somewhat important, or not important at all can also help with determining what you need to study.
  9. ear bud headphones with music and a set of ear protectors (the kind people wear when around noisy equipment or when shooting guns) make any place a quiet place... Well, at least bereft of any other distracting noises if you can study with music playing, I personally like playing classical music while studying.
  10. It could also be the reason stated by janfrn, which I hadn't ever seen before, though I'm still just a student myself.
  11. so if we go with the numbers you provided, and 4 kg for the infant's weight (since no number provided) 28 units/kg/hour * 4 kg * 1mL/1 unit = 112 mL/ hr. I assume the issue is that you have the incorrect concentration for heparin, it's more likely 100 units/ mL (at least that's all I ever see it as for adults). Based off of the number your clinical instructor came back with that is probably the concentration also.
  12. 1) Check their blood sugar, exercise causes blood glucose to drop in type 1 and type 2 diabetes, so they want to have an adequate level before hand and be sure they aren't hypoglycemic after exercising. 2)The islet of langerhans cells in the pancreas of the type 1 diabetic (IDDM) are gone (generally due to the immune system), thus they do not make insulin. A type 2 diabetic (NIDDM) is however insulin resistant, but their Islet of Langerhans cells still produce insulin. 3) Causes it to decrease 4) Stress causes the release of cortisol which increases the blood sugar levels. 5) After surgery I would imagine, you don't want the person becoming hypoglycemic during surgery, though you may want some more clarification on this one from others.
