Best Schools for Pre-Reqs?
A friend at Quincy College is taking pre-reqs there and loves it. Courses at Bunker Hill (from my experience) will not prepare you enough for nursing school. I've had to re-teach myself a lot of A&P along the way. I took all my pre-reqs at bhcc, it was cheap but I didn't learn as much as I would have liked to.

Accepted: Simmons Dix Scholar Nursing Program!!!
- I'm a terrible patient now...
I would definitely say something, it is in your child's best interest. I stand up for my child as well, more often now that I am in nursing school and am more aware of what should really happen. "Please wash your hands before you touch him/her, thank you." "If you don't know how to do it please call for help.." You may prevent something bad from happening to you, your child, or another patient in the future.- Accepted: Simmons Dix Scholar Nursing Program!!!
- Working as an RN in Boston
BSN. And I'm not sure how far I would go. I would like to live somewhere in MA...not sure where..open to reading about any area :)- Working as an RN in Boston
I'm a student, just looking for personal experiences at different locations.- Working as an RN in Boston
Would anyone like to share any experiences they have had working as an RN in or around Boston? Any favorite locations, and why? Also, what do you think is most important when deciding to work somewhere? (other than actually getting the job) Thanks!- A spouse that just doesn't get it.
sounds like mine haha. I told him to stay up with me while I finished my homework a couple of nights in a row (during finals week of course) and then asked him to tell me during what time I should do laundry, food shop, make a food shopping list, cook, wash dishes, clean, rest etc. He got the point (he admitted he wouldn't be able to do it all either) and we worked on a schedule where we rotated chores and if I get really stressed out with school he would help me out. Or else mr.husband is staying up all night with me to study :) I think it is all about positive communication. I can't get angry at him for not understanding the stresses of school (especially since he knows nothing of college), but he needs to understand, period. We're partners so we need to support and educate each other.- Which watch to buy
does this watch have a sweeping seconds hand? i like it :)- August 2013 Caption Contest: Win $100!
I accomplished cutting back on caffeine, I'm down to one cup a day.- Color coded studying
Hi I'm just wondering if anyone color coded their notes while studying in Nursing school. If so, what color scheme did you use? Why? Do you have any organizational tips, in terms of organizing information in the most efficient way? Thanks! (this does not include pre-req courses)- Can some of you share your acceptance to a nursing school?
3.61 GPA, 4.0 science GPA, Teas= 86.7%, volunteered at an elderly home (non-nursing) teaching basic computer skills- Lowest GPA for acceptance into ADN program?
NCLEX pass rates for bunker hill in 2012 was 79% and for Quincy was 94%.- Scholarships for Boston students
They do! ...big, thick binder..I will sit down and go through it this week (probably for a few hours) I just thought this would be a quicker way :)- Pharmacology Flashcards (drug cards)
- Now that you are in nursing school are you happy?
That picture is SO me right now! haha :) except with bags under my eyes and a very sleepy big smile.- "Back to School" Sales
When would people say back to school sale usually start?? Any recommendations on where to buy cheapest office supplies? shoes for clinicals?- Scholarships for Boston students
Hi! I would like to know if anyone knows about any scholarships/nursing scholarships that pertain to the area of Boston or Massachusetts only? I found a few online that include the entire usa, but maybe if there are some for only the Boston or MA area my chances would be better :) Anything helps!- Summer 2013: Post UR grades, it's finally OVER!!!
Intro to Inorganic Chemistry B, Intro to Organic Chemistry ends in two weeks..most likely an A :) Its been a tough summer, but so happy its almost over.- Most Challenging Prereq?
Inorganic Chem during a 6-week summer course. Surprisingly though, Organic Chem (which I'm taking now) is going much better :) After listening to multiple students talk about how much harder organic chem is compared to inorganic chem, I was scared! But definitely go into any class with a positive attitude because you never know.- Boston-area BSN and RN programs
I would say pass on Bunker Hill as well, I have not heard the best from their Nursing program, they had a hard time getting clinical placements for their students last year (some had to travel almost 2 hours away). I know a few people who said Quincy College's program was good, but I don't know I never went there. I have heard great things about Northeastern. I applied this year but didn't get accepted Have you looked into Simmons College? Also a great program! I will be starting the 2-yr Nursing program there in the Fall :) UMass Boston accepted around 10% of their applicants for Fall 2012. I was accepted this year with a GPA of 3.6 (science 4.0) and no background experience. I know a lot of people do apply there since the tuiton is much cheaper. Something new about UMass boston is you now need to submit TEAS exam results when applying, so you should plan on studying and scheduling a date for the exam. (try to get high math and science scores) You should definitely research as much as possible on each school's website and try to reach out to students from each school. I think you have a good chance of getting accepted at those schools. Hope I helped :)- Single mother, no support, nursing school
Look into housing programs, foodstamps, welfare...they are offered to help you and if you need help take it. It is possible!! You will be very tired, sleepy, stressed, but in the end it will all be worth it. If you can work while going to school (be careful with your grades) do so, take it day by day. Time management is very important, remember to eat healthy and make time for your baby. You can do it, Good luck!- Inorganic Chem Help!!
youtube videos are awesome! Thanks everyone, practice does make perfect :)- Inorganic Chem Help!!
Im currently struggling with an inorganic chem course I'm taking this summer. Does anyone have any tips, advice, mneumonics, help to offer please?! I'm having trouble with redox equations, polyatomic ions, vserp theory, basically everything. I have been studying and doing homework from the book every night but I feel it is not enough. I have not seen a tutor because my schedule is not the best. So far my grade is a Cish, im trying to get at least a B+ now that my hopes of gettin an A are gone. Our grade consists solely of 3 exams and 3 quizzes(75%), and lab reports and lab quizzes (25%). Im doing fine in lab, its the exams and quizzes that are really stressing me out. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!- How to do well in school when dealing with family problems..
Leave and go somewhere else to study. Library, park, beach, busstop? lol As long as you can focus! - I'm a terrible patient now...
