  1. Medtech, Indiana Buisness College

No, it's not that hard to get into, but it is a tough program. The 2nd degree program is easier than the regular oneto get into. My class had about 25, but it varies each year based on new students. They are very serious about application deadline...

I am a new grad that is on a unit that is trialing hourly rounding by CNAs. I am finding that they tell the CNA that everything is great, and then call me, even for water....

  8. I have a question. I know that typically prior degrees don't mean anything and that new grad rates are new grad rates. However, I have a BS in sociology and have 5+ years of experience in social services. Does this give me the potential to make an...
  9. Prior degree and career fair=$$?

Thank you, nfahren, you are 100% right. I KNOW it will help me a lot in nursing (ie:dealing with families, referals to other agencies and I already know how to document my butt off, let alone the fact that I had to deal with OT, PT , and ST on a dai...
  10. Prior degree and career fair=$$?

That's what I thought, but I guess that I was holding out hope that since my experience was in social services, instead of finance or something, that it might do SOMETHING. Oh well!!!!
  11. So, I was accepted. Now what?

    1. I took micro as a pre-req. Ask other students in your program when they took it. For us, the hardest nursing classes were semesters 2 and 3 out of 5. Find out when the toughest nursing classes are and AVOID micro. 2. No, you don't need streng...
  12. Night shift ... And a babysitter?

I will be in the same situation in May when I graduate. I think nights would work best due to kids schedules.... Their dad lives four miles away, so he will watch them two nights... my plan is to find nursing student or elem ed college students to...
  13. Yep, sorry. I was in preconference 1 minute late one time, and was told that one more day and I'd get an unsatisfactory (two satisfactories and you're out). Also, they don't care about weather, traffic, ect. Nursing is HARDCORE!!!
  14. Frustrated

I don't know what to tell you. I am just a student, but... I look at the ads all the time and I think you're assessment is correct. I have done clinicals in indianapolis and there aren't LPNs on the floor, however in the the outlying areas there ar...
  15. U of I and BSU

I am in BSU's second degree fast track program. I have a friend that is in the 3 yr. program. It is HARD. They are STRICT. But, their NCLEX pass rate is one of the best in the state and I honestly believe that I'm learning a lot. I would (and ha...
  16. Wow, what a difference!

I am a senior nursing student. I have been in your typical clinical settings (nursing homes, all types of hospital adult care, surgery, home health, psych..) and am now on a Peds floor. I cannot TELL you what a difference there is in the staff. Th...
  17. Please Help Me Understand

Sorry, don't really know, but I'd NEVER take the school's word for it. EVER. You need to do more research. I would go to the websites that do the accrediting and see what they have to say. Let us know what happens.
  18. Riverview Hospital-anyone work there?

I'm will graduate in May and left a message on the recruiter's voicemail, trying to get a little info, as I live in Noblesville. That was two weeks ago and no one ever called me back. Hhhmmm, and they wonder why so many nurses go to work in Indiana...
  19. I love night shift!!!!!

I'm glad to hear so many enjoy nights. I will graduate in May with my BSN, have two kids and think nights would be best so that I can be a part of their lives. Also, seems to me (and confirmed by your posts) that there is SOOOOO much BS on days. I...

We do ICU next semester (our last). I am VERY nervous. Keep us posted... Good luck!
  21. Short term outcomes for depression?

I'd up it to three instead of one, but I think it's a solid goal.
  22. IV push administration

We were taught no flush in that situation.
  23. Great - 9 months to go and I may have to quit...

Everyone has great suggestions, I'm SURE this will work out for you. However, this financial aid stuff is crapola. When everything is squared away and your check is cashed, I'd go to the school paper, They love stories like this, and maybe this wo...
  24. 1. Be nice to nursing students just beginning their clinical experience (remember how scary it was to give a bedbath?) 2. LOSE weight instead of gain it this semester. 3. Enhance my time management skills!
  25. How do you study???

I'm in my senior year of a BSN. What got me through (and gets me through!) was flashcards. I skim like you do, AND focus on tables, as well as doing the chapter reviews. However, in some classes, it's just not enough. It helps me to write the card...
