Endorsing Hawaii License to Nevada
hi hawaii RN here from philippines too...according to my friends, actually two of them who are based from nevada now but originally from cali took different paths, they needed to move to NV d/t concurrency issues, my one friend got denied from BON cali, so she has to move to NV bc she doesn't want to take MS and OB classes again (u know the burden, can't blame lol) BON NV required her to do the evaluation by CGFNS and toefl which took her long time until now (still on the process). my other friend who happened to be my batchmate didn't waste his time either in applying to BON cali and part of it is d/t my influence/advices since i took nclex here in hawaii and process everything a year ahead of him, i advised him to apply here for now since requirements doesn't entail so much and so he can take the exam right away (he's sched'd to take his nclex this month btw). I and him checked the endorsement process from HI to NV and same requirements is being asked, that he is required to take toefl regardless his status as citizen. But i also read this one article but can't remember what site specifically that is. it says in there that you can only be exempted in taking toefl if you already have 5 yrs of RN experience working here in the US (applies to those states that doesn't require toefl like HI for instance). hope this helps. :)

how to pass NCLEX-RN 2015
hi kabayan, i took my exam last march 2014, i graduated too in the phil in year 2013, i utilized saunders 5th ed the yellow book, read the entire book and know the content then do all the practice questions in there most especially the SATA type of questions. i also used kaplan 2008-2009 ed (bought in recto manila for 500php ), it will teach you how to strategize on selecting answers and how to eliminate , but that would only be your last resort tho, it'd be safer if you know the content so you can rationalize on your own during the test proper. goodluck kabayan! :)

newbie in nursing.. advice pls! mahalo
hi fellow RNs, just passed my nclex last yr 2014 march and by the way i'm from Hawaii. Right after i pass my nclex-rn exam, i was so eager to look for a job (Hospital job if possible) but amongst all the applications i sent, all i got is rejection letters, not to mention even with CNA and tech for that matter, can't blame i'm a newbie and the job market here is undeniably tough, so yeah as fallback, i did applied at SNF/LTC. Month and a half later i got a callback and got hired to a nearby Nursing&Rehab here in my area and to cut it short been working there for almost 8 months now. tho it's not i really wanted i took the offer, well instead of sitting around. but right now, i'm on the verge of i feel lazy sometimes going at work, and i'm kinda starting to hate the routinary job, i felt like of a less of a nurse, but don't get me wrong with that, it was a good start for me, i learned a lot since i'm also a foreign graduate BSN-RN, but i just don't find myself to be working in a facility, i felt like i aint gonna grow as a nurse i wanted to be since the knowledge you apply is somewhat limited. I haven't tried submitting resumes since i got this job, some told me this experience i have won't give me any bearing to land a job in the hospital since it's not counted as acute experience (tho our facility does cater few days post-op and others.). Now i'm also caught in between if will i go search out of state jobs, or try to apply again to any of the hospitals here which includes CNA/clerk/tech just to get my foot in the door. Any suggestions?? :) BIG MAHALO fellow RNs! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO US!!

Just to nclex and nervous
that calls for a celebration!!! cheers to the new RN!! (took mine on march for the first time, and yeah felt terribly bad when i walked out of the room post exam.. and yeah had to wait 6 hours until i was able to do the PVT (longest 6 hours of my life) d/t technical problems of the site, maintenance probably, but thank god right then when i did the PVT, i got a good pop-up!! did it several times and i'm getting the same.. and true enough, after 48 hours, did the quick count and yup officially i found out that i hit the mark "PASS"! congrats again!! Job well done!

Not enough
believe me,., i didn't join any review classes given myself 35 days to be exact to do self-review,., just dedication, time and a lot of effort can do,., i only utilized saunder's 5th ed for most part of my review,., and studied kaplan strategies (2008-2009 ed) and just answered 180 questions from that book,., i know it's really overwhelming on our part as "test-takers", that as much as possible we want use every book that we "heard" is the best and been using by the "majority", but it's not that, just use at least 2 references and stick to it., finish from cover to cover., in that way you won't be confuse in the end since every author of every book we are using sometimes differs... and you don't want that to happen during the actual boards.. best of luck!! and god bless ps.. in god's help,., i was able to pass on my first try.. and not for bragging since it's doesn't have to do or doesn't pull any bearing at all to become a nurse, i stopped at number 75... so don't forget to pray! it makes things a lot EASIER! :)

It's Official, I am Registered Nurse (RN)
congrats!! :)

What do you do for NCLEX eve?
just compose yourself and free it with tension., it takes a lot of effort to actually do that but as much as possible relax,. have a quick scan JUST FOR LABS,., and think before you sleep and after the exam that you PASS!!! best of luck!!:)

Filipino RN to California RN
hi,., first welcome to the US kabayan!! hmm,., try to call the BON in CALI and ask them about the requirements,. cause it varies per state,., i believe cali don't require CGFNS evaluation which my state does,. and as of now,. filipinos applying in CALI are having a hard time getting their test permits in that state due to that above mentioned issues like concurrency,., supposedly i'll be applying with BON CALI but i don't want to wait for long period of time like some of my friends did, that some of them until now are still in pending cases,., so i just applied in the other state (BON HI) for me., and it didn't took me long enough to sit before nclex.. passed mine last march of this year,. so in due time i might just apply for reciprocity in CALI..

Kaplan test prep for international nurse
vs saunders? i would rather go with saunders,. I'm an international student too,, took my nclex last march 15 and passed at my first try,, in my opinion, i believe kaplan will only teach you on how to "strategize" during exam, yes i did use it during the last phase of my review (2-3 days before my scheduled exam).. and i wouldn't recommend it as your primary source,. it's safer for you to know the concept which saunder's have,. and it's more easier to understand.. :)

new grad program in hawaii?
i didn't try really search by HPH and kaiser yet,. i only tried Queens, i personally called the HR department and asked about the program, and she told me they have probably at the end of the month, and i also asked how to apply and she said just search to the job postings and look for [COLOR=#212121]positions labeled "New Grad Okay" but i haven't seen one yet, and so i told her that, and she said so most probably there's none as of now but she's certain that there is soon,. btw I'm a foreign grad in the Philippines but I'm residing here for 4 years now, i just graduated last march 2013, took my Philippine Licensure Exam for Nurses on Dec and my Nclex-RN just this March 15, I'm just so eager to find a job right now, cause it's been a month., tbh I'm losing my chances of getting hired since I'm a foreign grad tho. hopefully it's not a ground for me not to be hired.

Conquered the NCLEX-RN with just 75 clicks!!!
congrats RN! , same here, felt horrible after it shut off at 75 and just prepared myself to retake it, like it even took me sometime to answer question NUMBER 1(8-10 mins),,i was able to eliminate two, but still I'm left with two and I'm having a hard time selecting which one.. that's why when i reached number 75 , i just bowed my head and take sometime to pray asking him to stop already and i just literally surrenderred everything to him,. and as soon as i submitted my answer, my screen turned blue., went home completely shattered and depressed.. but 6 hours later, when the pearson site is again accessible due to maintenance, i did the PVT and to my surprise, i got the good pop-up!! and 48 hours after, i received the official result saying i PASSED! truly god is good, continue praying and I'm sure whatever you ask, he will deliver! GOD BLESS to those future nclex examinees! :)

Will PCT help me get an RN job in the future?
Hi, new BSN,RN here, I'm a foreign grad from the philippines currently residing here in Hawaii, i graduated last march of 2013, went back here on april of the same year till august to earn enough money to both pay for my philippine nursing licensure exam on dec 2013 which I'm so thankful about cause i passed, and at the same time with both of my CGFNS and nclex-rn exam which i just took this march 15, and passed at my first try too. I've been so eager to find a job as an RN here, but since I'm so sure enough like any foreign grad coming from my country that the experience we have there won't help us to find a job,. and so as soon as as passed my nclex, i did my BLS and ACLS training right away so i can put something in my resume,. It's been almost a month now since i passed, and I'm losing my hope and chances of getting hired, especially the market is so competitive right now, and i don't know any from here who's working inside the hospitals or any facilities who can back me up. I also heard about the new RN program, i went search online, but nothing is posted, so i called the HR this morning and she said they'll be hiring by the end of this month, which falls under graduation season, meaning there's more applicants again.. and since I'm so desperate of finding a job, i wouldn't even care anymore of starting as CNA/PCT just to get one. now, last week, i talked to someone from fresenius dialysis center and told me if i want to start as PCT cause they are not hiring for RN yet and if ever they do they want someone who undergone Homodialysis training, do you guys think it will help me find a job as RN later on? any suggestions i can do? appreciate it, thank you.

I failed my nclex rn exam, used kaplan, ncsbn and saunders/cd..please help! pls..pls
hi jolly., i can really feel you right now,. and I'm so sorry to hear that,. but it's not the end yet,. god has plans, and he'll give it on the right time,. everything has a purpose,. pick yourself up and don't lose hope,. it's not the end yet,. here's my tip for you, i just recently took my exam too last march 15, and i'l tell you what helped me pass. I've used mainly saunder's 5th comprehensive book, i've read it from cover to cover,. here's the thing, it would be better as test takers for us to know the"concept", in that way we can rationalize with the questions given,. try to get a notebook where in you can write the important details you'll encounter on your readings especially on the highlighted ones, and those concept which are in the box, those are procedures i believe, which can help you deal with SATAS and ordered responses,. know your lab values, what i did is, i took a paper to write in my lab values and put them on my wall where i usually study,. look at them first thing in the morning in which my memory works better,. cause i spent exactly 35 days as my time frame for my review, so i spent 8-10 hours reading but with more breaks in between cause i need also to refresh my brain lol, i mean have time to relax in between, do whatever you feel like doing,. so yeah, try reading at least 3-4 chapters per day, then after every chapter, answer the Q&A either in the book or the one in the disc, in that way you'll be able to recall what you've read,. i guess i was able to read it in 2 weeks, then after i did the 4000 plus Q&A in the disc, again, read the rationale and put more time practicing the multiple format types of questions after,. then on the later part of my review, 2-3 days before my scheduled exam, i read kaplan just to to study how to strategize, but again, it's not highly recommendable to rely on that, as i've said it's safer for you to know the concept,. i hope this will help,. keep believing jolly,. i know you can do it! best of luck and god bless. :)

Nclex review in Hawaii
tbh, it was hard, there's bunch of SATA like 40 percent of my exam i guess, 3 ordered, 2 chart/item analysis, 2 drugs, 1 ECG.. and there's a lot of prioritization and delegation too,.,you know the feeling that it seems like you can't recall or you don't have any idea at all on what is being ask even tho you know to yourself that you've read already,. and i really felt devastated when my computer shut off, that i already accepted to myself that i didn't make it,. but yeah just cling to "HIM" and everything will okay,.
