Wow that's a high BP in the hospital where I work we are immediately required to notify the nurse. The patient is very lucky that nothing happen to him/her and you are lucky that you only got screamed at by the nurse. Again in most places that would have gotten you written up.

I haven't taken the exit exam but I have found that they help with the specialty exams.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has experience of doing their practicum in the ER? Was there any advice that you have???? I don't want to go in there and feel silly for not knowing anything or not knowing meds that I should (I know there's so much that I don't know and I know I'll have a million questions!). I'm not sure if I'd worded this correctly or asked my question right. Thank you in advance! And I appreciate any feedback or insight :)

It would be hard to find a job (if one even exists) that would hire only do the summer months. I would suggest that if that is the only thing you want to do then focus on school and maybe take summer courses if you want something to do. Another option is to find somewhere that will hire you per diem which usually requires only 2-4 shifts a month with flexibility in scheduling and sometimes they even allow you to pick up more shifts if your availability opens up. This could give you some insight and time in the medical field and some extra money. :) Ultimately the decision is up to you and you know what is best for you.

I know it is in a different field but when I had something like this happen to me when I worked in an office I would make sure that someone else would hear the conversation between me and the person who usually liked to cause problems. I.e. if a CNA or another employee is around when Nurse A asks for assistance just turn to the CNA and say "I'm going to help Nurse A for a second if you need me I'll be in room 1" or if you can't help her maybe walk to the nursing station and say to the secretary or someone "Nurse A needs assistance but I can't because I have an issue with patient XYZ at the moment, do you know of anyone available?". I don't know if this can help you but in my circumstance it was able to quickly show who was telling the truth and who wasn't.

Hi Kelly_lpn! We are just getting ready to start on the 15th of this month so I don't have any experience with the program yet except for the initial information. According to the information I have received with the program it doesn't take any longer and it has a strong hybrid component to the program. I have all of my pre-requisites for the program done for when I start in Jan and should graduate in July 2014 with my ADN. Hi Everyone! I'm currently enrolled in a nursing program in FL for my ADN and once I graduate (and pass the NCLEX) I'm hoping to move to DC but it says that you have to apply for a license in that state by endorsement which I'm not sure what exactly that meanst? Can anyone explain this to me? Am I posting this in the wrong area? Thank you so much in advance!

I would try and go online to the hospitals or places that interest you. Some of the hospitals in my area (south FL) will allow you to work as a PCT/CNA after your first semester of nursing school and it can be a way to get your foot in the door. Good Luck!

I used the app AudioNote when I was in A&P and it worked great plus you can use it for notes if you wanted but I didn't use that feature.
