LOL you made me laugh, girl! Please, don't feel bad, it has happened to the most of us!!! I know this and much worse has happened to me. Many times. Although I do not justify his behavior and absolutely do not think that you deserve to be treated that way, but in situations like these I try to remind myself that most of these people feel desperate, scared, sick, miserable, and alone. It is difficult though, at times. I wish you patience and strength.

Do you have experience in managment? Charge nurse, supervisor? And may I ask why you emphasized the word "only" like that? Am I missing something? (If I offended you, Im sorry, really didn't mean to).

Is this normal that the employer doesn't give you a written contract which includes things like salary, shift diffs, benefit description, etc.. and doesn't even send the official job offer letter? Or do I want too much?

Thank you so much, guys! They said I should get a week or two of orientation and CMAs will not administer certain medications like narcotics, IV meds, antibiotics...So I will be doing that. I think I would be the only nurse on that entire hall. I think I'm kind of scared... Will I be able to handle it?! Will I be able to do a good job?! My head is spinning. Could you name a few usual tasks/procedures I'd be doing regularly? IVs, meds, trach care? Because if I'm going to administer blood and heparin drips, I know I won't be able to do it. 35 people is a serious business. I do realize that staffing won't be perfect:scrying:

Really? Im a little concerned about the patient load...Also, they have some pts on vents. I don't have any experience in LTC, but right now its hard for me to imagine how will I ever complete even initial assessments on 30pts. It might take the whole shift to do just that. I think Im pretty efficient and manage time well..., but... Or, am I wrong? Also, it is about 40 min away for me.

Hi, Everyone, I was wondering if you could help me with some advice regarding this job offer that I've received. It is a LTC Nursing Center Staff RN Days, full time. $30/hr plus benefits. This facility has vents, the patient load is large (up to 30pts per nurse). But I'd be working with a CMA, CNA, Resp Therapist, and they have a phlebotomist. And a wound nurse. Does this offer sound good to anyone? Thank you very much, I must give an answer tomorrow.

Please, share your typical day as Prison RN? What shift do you work? What do you usually do? I am so new at this and so confused. Please help me make the right decision. I will be forever THANKFUL!

Hi, how did you get hired? Did you call jail/prison directly? Or was it through an agency? I keep calling DOC facilities, they keep transfering me to some full mailboxes, where I can't even leave a message

Thank you so much for your reply. Oh, so its a medical company? I thought it was the government that provided care for DOC. I called one staffing agency but they told me I would only be able to work in med/surg because that is the only field I have experience in:(

I'm sorry, maybe I sound ridiculous, but I am new at this and have absolutely no clue how to get a job in correctional nursing. How did you get the job? I searched the DOC website in my state, but they don't have any RN openings. Where do I go from here? Please help.
