Relocating to Las Vegas area by March 1st!
Just read your post..wanted to say hi and welcome:balloons: I am currently a nursing student so I can't offer much in the way of job advice sorry.Maybe someone else will see your post that can help you with that. I can answer your questions regarding highschools. My son currently attends Palo Verde ( Summerlin area) but he would consider Centennial highscool ( northwest area). What state are you currently living in? Sounds pretty cold there. Hope your husband has a Happy Birthday! :biggringi ..and he is able to find a house that all of you will enjoy! Best wishes, Twinkie:p

Hi JayRelic, Just wanted to share my thoughts on these locations. Boulder City - yes a commute is possible ... not too far from Vegas. Pahrump - 1.5 hr.-2hr. The commute can be dangerous at night. 2 lane road most the way. A Hospital is being built in the near future. Primm Nevada 2 hr. or more... California travlers can back up the highway to Vegas and vice versa ..LOL Bullhead City is at least 10 degrees hotter than Vegas it gets very hot in the summer. It's also very close to Laughlin ..right across the river. Still a 2hr. or more commute. Best choice would be Boulder City..it has a nice smaller town feel. There is also Mesquite Nevada 2hr. commute All commute time is for one way. Best wishes, Twinkie- Moving to Henderson in June 2006 HELP:)
Sounds good! Best wishes in your studies. Twinkie:balloons:- Moving to Henderson in June 2006 HELP:)
Okay Sonja I am here to help you come up with a solution. Let me see if I have all the facts straight. 1.You have waited 3 long years to be accepted into the Mott Community College. 2.Acceptance letter has been given to you for the Mott (ADN) program. 3.Why are you taking the Net in Nov. but you are already accepted into the program? 4.You start the Mott program in Jan. 5. How long is the Mott ADN program? Will you be done with the first semester by June? 6. Do you know if CCSN will accept the transfer of credits? 7. Have you taken Pharmacology? Will the credit transfer? 8. Is there a major cost difference in schools? 9. Do you have family that you can stay with while you are in the Mott community program? Here is my advice for you.. you have waited a long time to start the program at Mott Community College. So do whatever needs to be done and start the program in Jan! You have worked hard and you deserve to be in the program so don't wait just do it!! Once you get started everything will fall into place. Don't be afraid to take a chance you can do it! Best Wishes, Twinkie- Anyone else apply to CCSN?
Hi Sonja, Just wanted to say hello and wish you luck Please keep us posted. Best Wishes, Twinkie:)- Anyone else apply to CCSN?
oops! I sent it to "Hi Woogy" instead of just "Woogy" .. check again thanks. Twinkie- Anyone else apply to CCSN?
I sent a new message..so please check your mailbox. Thanks, Twinkie- Anyone else apply to CCSN?
Hi Lisa, :) Your response is correct..once you pick a path you are locked in.I think you made the right choice. Full-time offers a lot more flexability than the part-time. In the Part-Time all classes are at the Cheyenne Campus ..Lectures and labs are only availiable in the evenings and all Clinicals are only on the weekends. These hours are great if you work 9am-5pm and have weekends off. Problem is a majority of the Las Vegas students work in Casino and Hotels that require you to work weekends. Plus you attend classes in the summer when the Full-timers are off. Wish you the best ..please keep me posted. Twinkie- Sunrise Hospital
Just wanted to say Hi..and wish you luck :balloons: I am sorry to say that I don't work at Sunrise , but my son was born there in 1990 and I had a minor surgery there - tubal ligation. My experience as a patient was excellent.Hopefully somone can fill you in as far as work enviorment. Keep us posted. Best Wishes, Twinkie :)- Young and single! Should I move here?
Great Link :) Thanks- Anyone else apply to CCSN?
Hang in there You will get the news you have been waiting for and you will be starting the program in no time. Are you given one choice Full or part- time program or can you do 1st choice 2nd choice and apply for both? Just curious :) Also I took the Critical Thinking class it was requirement then and really enjoyed it.I did not have to take nutrition or the required Nursing course (one credit) although I think you are right ..the (one credit) course is now required. As far as turning 35 that's great I have you beat by 3 years...each year I feel more self confident. Keep me posted Twinkie- Going in tommorrow
My thoughts and prayers are with you :balloons: You Can do it! Twinkie- Anyone else apply to CCSN?

I like your response :) Well said. Hope you have a great school year! Twinkie :balloons:- Work and Go To School?? Help!
I feel that there are a lot of nursing students in your situation. Myself for one I feel your frustration. Have you inquired about a student loan, or a home equity loan? What is the length of time at current job? Will they work with your school schedual? How much longer do you have in school? Have you inquired about hospital funded student loan? Maybe others can respond with ideas.I wish there was an easy way to get through nursing school without working to death and going broke. If you find the answer let me know. :) Best Wishes, Twinkie- I need advice about cocaine addiction
Just wanted to offer some hope and prayer. I had been in a bad relationship on and off for five years with my high school sweeteartheart.I had a hard time leaving him even though I was pregnant and wanted a better life for my child.I would pray every night that I would find the strength to leave him and never look back. One night in a drug induced rage he came after me while my two day old daughter was in my arms.He broke through the locked bathroom door and I retaliated by kicking him in the shin.. causing a permenant 2inch dent in his shin. My daughter and I escaped that night unharmed and I was finally able to leave him for good! It's been 18 years since that night..my daughter is everything a mother could hope for. I have heard through the grapevine that my ex boyfriend continues to struggle with drugs and alcohol and was homeless at one point. It breaks my heart to hear of his situation but I finally realized that I could not compete with his addictions and I could not live his life for him. You have my thoughts, prayers, and compasion.Continue to love and support your daughter. Every situation is unique.. I feel that you know what is best for your family. God Bless You and your loved ones, Twinkie Please keep in touch.- Outrageous !!!!!!!
