  1. From reading previous Wake Forest threads on here, evidently the set up of the interview is 15 minutes personal questions, 15 minutes clinical interview questions from your current ICU and 15 minutes essay. Best of luck to you as well!
  2. I too am interviewing! If either of you have interviewed and have suggestions please share.
  3. This is a tough decision. I would say to put your deposit down with UMass and then apply to USF in May. I'm assuming USF's program starts in August, so the deposit at UMass is so you have a backup school.
  4. Thanks @SB88 for the guarantor information! I was not aware that is an option. @Nat31 I am not a NYC native nor do I live there currently, but my understanding is that landlords would want to see at least two recent paychecks in addition to your W2 to confirm your income.
  5. Is there a word limit? I would try to keep it short. Maybe half a page or 3/4 of a page. Admissions offices have to go through a lot of applications, so I am sure they would appreciate students who are concise. The statement should start out explaining what hardships you suffered that caused you to have to retake the prerequisites and then end with you discussing what you learned from the experience and how it has made you a better student/person.
  6. I would contact the school and clarify. That is certainly something you would want to have cleared up as soon as possible.
  7. I do not know the specific types of questions that LSU will ask, but I have interviewed for other nursing schools and some of the interview questions that are asked are questions such as: What are your strengths you have that would contribute to the field of nursing? What are current issues in nursing? Share a time where you have failed and how this experience will help you as a nurse. What does diversity mean to you and how will you help to make our university diverse? Hope these help you! Best of luck!
  8. First of all, this is your life. Please do not let anyone make you feel like you HAVE to do anything within an allotted timeframe. Also, attaining your ADN and then getting the BSN while working might actually be smarter because most employers would be willing to provide some type of tuition reimbursement for your to further your nursing education.
  9. I agree that if possible you should try to get some experience in the health industry. I know volunteering can be hard now, but first hand experience would definitely help you make a decision. If you get experience and you are still not happy then you should definitely look into other career options. There are certainly many things you can do in healthcare besides nursing.
  10. OMG! I am so sorry. I completely read your initial post wrong. If you can afford to put down the deposit to UMASS I would. Have you applied to any other schools or is it only UMASS or USF?
  11. Glad to know I'm not the only one who is freaking out about this!
  12. Hi, I do not know which program is better. I just wanted to say Congratulations on being accepted to both programs! To me, it sounds like you have more of an incentive to go to USF especially if you are wanting to purchase a house. This would also minimize the amount of loans you have to take out. Either way you are fortunate to have to choose between two great schools. Best of luck to you!
  13. Is it true that to rent an apartment in NYC, you would have to make 40 times the rent? My concern is finding an apartment as a student especially if student loans can't be used for rent.
  14. Hi! This is from a 2020 Mercy College of Health Sciences Board. CA will not accept this program for licensure by Rec. or by examination. Do not attend this program if you are trying to move back to California. Please check the 2020 posting or with the CA BON in case anything has changed.
  15. I applied on October 15 and received the "initial review" email on December 22nd. I am hoping that means that means decisions will be sent out next week for those who applied early.
  16. Do you have the questions minimized maybe? There should be an arrow on the left hand side of the application that you can click on and the questions should appear.
  17. Hey! I had emailed JHU's to ask this exact question.
  18. I just thanked my references for taking the time to fill out the references and said that if they had any questions to feel free to reach out.
  19. I do not have experience with this, but I was going to say that you should reach out to the school through email and explain your situation. They might be able to give you and expedited decision or give you other helpful advice. Best of luck to you!
  20. I think your experience and what sounds like strong recommendation letters will more than make up for that GPA. I would absolutely look into applying to programs such as Vanderbilt's Prespecialty Master's Program or Yale's GEPN program. I would also apply to ABSN's as a backup, but I feel like you would be a strong candidate for direct entry MSN programs.
  21. Do you think you can handle both classes at the same time? I think it is doable, but will require work on your part. If possible, I would err on the side of safety and take the classes separately to make sure you can get A's in both classes. Best of luck to you!
  22. I think if you are interested in nursing, you should reach out to schools and ask about Financial Aid. There are scholarships and grants that you can get through FAFSA. I have a friend who was in a similar situation, but ended up getting a large portion of her tuition covered through FAFSA and she went to a pretty expensive nursing school. Nursing is also great because there are opportunities for loan forgiveness and tuition reimbursement through employers. For example, if you decide to get your ADN first, you can start working as a nurse and get tuition reimbursement to get your BSN. There are so many paths to be a nurse, so please do not let finances be the thing that stops you from pursuing nursing as a career.
  23. If you can, I would apply to more surgical technology programs (because I am assuming that is where your heart is) as well as a couple of LPN programs for backup. Best of luck to you!
