  1. “It’s part of our new policy to incorporate natural remediesinto our nursing practices. This one ispureed kale and avocado – great for skin conditions!”
  2. We have the option of purchasing ebooks for our two main books our first quarter (starts Sept 24!). They can be used on ipads, and/or a regular PC/laptop, but not on a nook or kindle. They are always ours (our usage doesn't expire), and we can print portions if we want to. I decided to buy the ebooks since I purchased the same two main books at our school library as discards about a year and a half ago. They cost me less than $2 altogether. They are past copies, but I figured that they will be a good hard copy if needed since I will also have the ebooks. The ones that I'm more concerned about are the "optional" books on our list. I am going to try to find those used...
  3. I took A&P 1 (5 credit with lab) with just a 2 credit class to make me 1/2 time at the CC (quarters), and I took A&P 2 with Lifespan Psychology to make me 3/4 time at the CC. I did this for a few reasons: I wanted to be able to focus on just the A&P classes because of how hard I knew it would be for me to find the focused time to study. I have 6 children with two little ones still at home full time. I was also limited to taking classes at night and/or online, so it was hard to find appropriate filler classes. My A&P class took up all of my evening class slots, and I only needed the psychology prereq which I took online. In hindsight, I should've taken the psychology class with A&P 1 since it was easier for me than A&P 2. Kudos to those of you working AND going to school full time. I know that I couldn't do that and still make it through.
  4. We start September 24. My kids start back to school Sept 5. I am so glad to have the "almost" three weeks to rest while they are at school.... ETA: I am in Washington State
  5. Micro was my favorite class of all the sciences, and I did well too. It was very interesting subject matter, and the labs were well run and informative. I won't lie. It WAS a lot of work. Just fascinating work. I think it helped that our instructor gave us in-depth study guides for the tests, and if you worked on those you pretty much aced the tests. A&P 2 was my hardest class, followed by chemistry. I did so well in A&P 1, and was pretty shocked to do so much worse in 2. (3.9 vs. 3.1) I know that a 3.1 is still an awesome grade, but it is the lowest I got in all of my classes, and that stings a little, especially considering how very very hard I worked and how many hours I put into it.. I think the difference was partly because of the larger amount of physiology in the second part, whereas the first part was mostly anatomy and a lot of memorizing of parts. I also had some major family issues during the second A&P, and that had to affect my concentration and ability to study and remember as well.
  6. Our school does not. We are accepted into the program based on taking the prerequisites and passing with a minimum GPA, and being willing to wait for a place in the program. At this time, we don't have to take any placement test or deal with points. We go through a checklist with a counselor at the school, fill out a form, and then the names of everyone who applied on a certain day go into a hat (literally), and the names are drawn to determine what order the students are placed on the list. At times, I have wished we were placed on the list according to academic achievement, since my grades have been great and the list is over a year long. In the long run though, I think this is the fairest way to go.
