Piggyback/Incompatibility-driving me nuts!
So are you saying you use the same secondary tubing for 2 different abx? Like u have NS as primary continuos; then abx1 u hang piggyback, 4 hours later abx2 is due u use the secondary tubing after back priming to flush the line and use it for abx2?

Taking down IV Chemo
How do you take down IV chemo? For instance. Pt has cytoxan going for 2 hours. Pt has NS with cytoxan piggyback (pump 1) and D5NS (pump 2) then on another pump Mesna (pump 3)is going. Since all is connected do u take down the complete set of tubes and bags and start new? It is a closed system. Do you only take down the chemo off the piggyback? Or do you take down all of the one pump that the chemo was running through.

Appying to other states without license in those states
If you have a license in another state, just put that down when they ask for your license #, I think if you already have one regardless of the location they don't mind. And clearly if your address is another state then it would be understandable ur license is possibly in that state.

How long?
1 of the local hospitals requires all RNs to go through there program if they have any amount less then 12 months of FT RN experience. Hope that helps. Having employment on your resume should help you get a "new grad" position.

Pre-employment Questions
I would want to know if my pt had a pulse and what the read out is from the defibilator (heart rhythm), I would assume since u put on the defibilator they don't have a pulse, so I would start doing chest compressions. I guess the question to me is very vague, b/c it might not fire due to a rhythm that doesn't allow defibrilation, or a malfunction. If its malfunctioning definately start compressions and have someone go get another.

I need some advice on my new job.
1st of all, reading this post, it sounds very childish of what may have happened with your co-workers, for the example u gave. 2nd if its simple things as they turn u in for being late, in my opinion unless you have a good excuse to your supervisor u should have consequences for that. As an LPN u carry a lot of responsibility. Everyone in society looks up to you as a PROFESSIONAL. Do you consider someone professional if they are late? I do not unless they give a good reason why they are late. Also, you shouldn't worry about what others think of you, do your job to the best of YOUR ability and keep an open door with your supervisor. If you feel something is going to hinder ur performance you need to be professional enough to talk to your supervisor about that problem. If you really feel they are going to give you such a hard time and try to get you fired, see if you can work on a different floor/wing so you are not directly supervising them. In my opinion it is not good to move up the chain that you will be in charge of people who u have become friends with when you were at that level (CNA). It's best to move to a different area and become a supervisor of people u are not friends with or do not have a problematic history.

What type of volunteering do you do?
volunteer at local clinic that runs by majority of volunteers. The clinic doesn't turn anyone away, however it isn't acute care typically, new pts are scheduled a month out
