Can I get a hard copy of my license thru BON?
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I read other posts on allnurses. All posters agreed that BON is VERY slow. I will go there in person and get everything done. Thanks again.

Can I get a hard copy of my license thru BON?
Hello all, My family is relocating overseas in 2 months and the Nursing Council over there asks me to have a hard copy of my RN license for license application. I understand that Maryland BON no longer issues license cards. Does anyone know if the Board would issue some kind of certificates in my case? I also have some documents which need to be filled out by the board. I tried emailing and calling them but couldn't get a hold on anyone. Would you suggest me to go to Baltimore in person and ask them? Thanks a lot in advance.

Hong Kong Advanced Practice Nursing
Thank you so much for the information. It's very helpful. My family is moving back to Hong Kong this summer and I had a hard time finding information regarding the practical exam. I have my US RN license but heard that the license exam in Hong Kong is quite difficult which kind of makes me nervous. Are you familiar with any other jobs that oversea RNs can work for while we are working on our license exam? I do have some experience in the OB area and have looked into Matilda hospital. It looks like it's an excellent hospital to work for. But the commute will be very long for me as we probably will live in the New Territories.

Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2
My name didn't show up on the board until Pearson website stated that "fast result is available if you pay $7.95..." I took the board on 07/07 around 9am and finished around noon. Checked the result on BON and Pearson website around 9:00am this morning, nothing. Results were on both BON and Pearson website around 11:45am when I checked again. I know it's hard but please be patient. I am sure you passed! It does take around 48 hours, nothing less.

Pearson Vue Trick - Does it Work Every Time? Part 2
I took the board on 07/07 with 113 questions, not sure about how I did with the exam. Came home a couple hours after the exam and got the good pop up. 48 hours later, my name is on BON and I passed the NCLEX! I don't even need to use the fast result service as my name is on BON as soon as the fast result is available. The trick DOES WORK!!!!!!!!!!!! A piece of advice, check your board when you fast result is available. You might be able to check you name on the board and save money from paying for the fast result. Good luck everyone!

University of Maryland Traditional BSN Fall Program: Any idea when we will hear back?
Hi, angelp71, First of all, congratulations!!! I am not sure if you are going to SG or Baltimore. But for SG, you may buy your uniform at any scrubs stores (Just make sure you have white top and Khaki pants) or you may get all the supplies at the orientation in August. You can easily buy school badge from Baltimore bookstore and iron it on your top. A lot of us, including me, have done so without any problems. About the textbooks, I know some of us will be selling our books at the orientation. You may be able to get better deals. Congratulations again and welcome to UMB nursing!!!

Angalp71, I am not sure if your question has been answered already. In order to register for classes, you need to download a registration from the UM nursing website, fill in the classes you want to register, and fax it to the office of registration . (http://nursing.umaryland.edu/resources/students/forms.htm) BTW, I have the 2nd semester books like Gerontology, research and context I for sale. ( I am keeping the adult health for NCLEX.) If you want them, please PM me. Good luck everyone!! You are about to start a wonderful journey as a nursing student of UMB!!!

Good point, JRFraker. The statement doesn't need to be wordy, just long enough to sell yourself. Remember how many statements they have to read one day. I remember mine was 2 pages only and I didn't have any healthcare experience nor volunteering experience. Remember, SELL YOURSELF. Tell them why you are the best candidate, what your strengths are, and what you can bring to the nursing field. I know many of our classmates also don't any clinical experience. I feel like for those who have, they do have some advantages to start with, but we all catch up eventually once we start clinicals. Good luck!

Haha..you are right, we did have a student who passed out but it's not because of the trauma, it's because of something else. Oh..gosh...rumors do pass on very quickly.:chuckle To answer the question about clinicals, no...for SG students, we can only pick clinicals especially for SG students. So as Baltimore students, they can only pick wherever that available for them. I've heard that it is different for senior practicum. I know one senior who goes to UMMC for her senior practicum. Clinical sites of adult health for us this semester are holy cross, montgomery general, frederick, WHC, and suburban. Even though the sites don't sound as interesting as UMMC, I know pretty much everyone in our class got a chance to get off the floor and go to the ER, OR, PPR etc. You will still learn A LOT no matter where you end up. hope that helps.

Sorry I made a mistake. Bdg III is the Camille Kendall Academic Center where you can cafeteria, library and such. Bdg I is where you can the nursing office and labs. Sorry for the confusion.

You are welcome! I truly hope that you will like SG campus and enjoy your time in the program. It's HARD to go through nursing school. There were so many times that I questioned my ability, yet, I pulled it through the 1st semester and I am almost done with my 2nd. You will learn SO much in 2 years. Regarding to your visit, the weekend is pretty quite around the campus and the faculty will not be there. The campus itself is very small. There are only 3 buildings: building I, II, & III. Bdg I is the main building where you can find the library, cafeteria, computer rooms etc. Most of our lectures are in bdg III. bdg III 3rd floor is where the nursing program office is. You also find the labs at the opposite of the hallway. Walk around the campus, you don't need to be a student to get in. I would still suggest you to meet the faculty sometime in the weekday if you want to. They are all VERY NICE!!! If you still have questions, please feel free to ask. I am sure a lot of people on this board will be able to help.

Congratulations and welcome to USG! I am in the 2nd semester of the nursing program in the SG campus. Like someone has said, the class size is smaller here. You will know EVERYBODY by their first names in a couple weeks. You will get to know almost all the professors in a couple weeks as well. Basically, you will see familiar faces on daily basis. I know a lot of students transferred from Baltimore to SG this semester, they actually like SG a lot better. We have GSS sessions for harder classes, like Pathopharmacology and adult health. The professors will go all the way to help you succeed. Congratulations again! See you in the fall.

University of Maryland Traditional BSN Fall Program: Any idea when we will hear back?
Hello, I am in the 2nd semester of my first year in the nursing school. If you think the first semester is stressful, wait until you have adult health in the 2nd semester. I seriously don't have a life outside school. Well....I thought it's stressful enough right now...haha...not too much so until I heard how the seniors talked about their final semester....Gosh..it never ends. Anyway, I remembered my acceptance letter didn't come until the beginning of April. But the online status did update before I got the letter. So keep on checking it. Good luck everyone!

UMB's BSN textbook list?
Hi, could someone suggest which study guides you use for Health Assessment? The NCLEX-type of questions are really confusing to me and we have an exam coming up soon. Thanks in advance!
