  1. Not necessarily true I was born and raised in Austin Texas and the hospital here still very much hire new grad ADN's pay isn't all that great and some healthcare systems require you to receive your bsn 30 months from your hire date but not all and you can still get hired with your ADN I have my ADN and have worked numerous places..
  2. No it has not changed at all.
  3. I had a similar assignment I think it is being blown a little out of proportion.. If you're not going to help then simply move on.. To give a lecture about it doesn't help the situation. I had a nurse that I set up an interview and she had to leave on an emergency so I had to improvise although I didn't use AN I did have to come up with something and helpful people is what got me though it..
  4. I'm finishing up cultural diversity and nr351.. I have no complaints I have A's in both courses I work two jobs and have a 6 year old.. Very manageable my professors are wonderful!! Just turn in every assignment and u will be fine!!
  5. So I took the Nclex four times the first time I only had 75 the second time I got all 265 the third time I got 206 and this last time I got all 265. It's hard to say if you passed or fail with 265, I wish you well!! More chance or not you passed keep us posted!!
  6. When I failed the first time I did not receive anything. I never contacted the board about it I just studied everything. This time I paid for the quick results so that's how I found out I failed so I have to wait a couple weeks for the CPR.
  7. That's the thing I never received the previous ones which I know is completely foolish and I only disservice my self.. I just figured the first time I wasn't ready the second time I had a lot going on but this time I felt so ready I don't think my issue is content I think it is answering the question correctly in going to keep on trying I've come to far to give up.. When it is time I will master the NCLEX and I will be an RN.
  8. I just don't know what I am doing wrong.. I've studied all kinds of stuff I've used Kaplan, RN mastery app!! I just don't know what to do or what to study.. I'm starting to feel defeated.. I'm an ADON I love nursing and I want to be an RN so bad I don't understand where I'm lacking.. I have not been able to look at the statistics of the exam but I'm hoping to so I can gain some insight to what I am missing.. I'm going to keep praying I asked God to give me strength and courage..
  9. Thanks today is much better I've prayed and god has this it isn't time now but I will be an RN. I didn't spend the last two years of my life going through nursing for nothing we have this and we can do it!!
  10. These post are so inspirational I to failed my NCLEX-RN for the second time 12 August. Very devastating I paid the 8 bucks to know for sure.. It hurt yesterday was such a hard day but I read on another test taker post that said "it doesn't matter how you get there, as long as you get there". That with prayer has been getting me through. Good luck and we have this we are going to pass nd we are going to conquer this exam !!
  11. Where do you go from two failures?? I'm completely numb.. I've worked sooo hard to get here and to fail twice.. It's so hard to be positive I need help and encouragement.. I know I can do it but I don't even want to.. I guess I would like to know what repeat test takers have used to study the second and third time around.. I've used Kaplan and I will not be using it again just for the content review part and I'm thinking about using NCSBN review.. I don't know where to go from here I've made flash cards I really tried. I'm taking off a month before my exam so I can really focus! I feel like such a disappointment my co workers my family and my friends are soo supportive and was completely rooting for me. When I asked for time off people worked for me so that I could study.. Some back history I went to school in New Mexico I actually lived there for the past six years.. After I graduated nursing school in may I came back home.. I have a 5 year old son that was staying with my mother while I was in nursing school.. So now I'm back with all of my family nd friends nd it's a major distraction so the first time I tested I got 75 questions which was understandable I wasn't ready at all.. This last time I received the entire test.. During this time I was moving into my first home.. Which is a process in itself. I'm aware that I've had a lot going on and that probably contributed to a lot of me not passing. But I'm lost on picking up the pieces.
  12. It can be done it will be a sacrifice but it will fly by and you will feel so accomplished. I am a single mother the first semester I tried to make it through but it became tough since I had just got a divorce and started nursing school.. I have an amazing support team and my mother stepped in and helped me tremendously.. My son was 3.. I graduate in May from an ADN program and he will be turning 5 in a couple days... Some days will be hard and u will feel like quitting don't.. Remember why you're doing it and keep pressing on.. You will meet amazing people that will help you through.. Hope this is encouraging..!!! Good luck jasilady
  13. 232 days (7 months 20 days 18 hours) It's going to be here before I know it... jasilady
  14. I had some of your same fears I have a 4 year old.. Some days he understand mommy works but most of the time he doesn't understand y I am sleeping during the day... Trust me u will b up there is ton to do.. Especially from day shift on top of what u have to do.. Nd med pass!! Ha so u will not be sleep.. I mean try it and see I like nights I only drink water I don't like coffee or caffeine .. I find it makes me feel tired.. So good ole H2o I gets tons of sleep during the day as well... jasilady
  15. I feel the same way.. I'm a new LPN I work in a SNF and rehab and I feel so overwhelm but I'm not going to quit I'm going to stick it out because it is a learning experience.. But man I'm so overwhelmed I cried.. To my mother today because I don't want to quit I know that anywhere I go I will feel this way... Have to find something that works for me.. jasilady
  16. Yea I've been going over this I don't know if I should put in a two weeks or just quit like don't go back nice only went two days.. jasilady
  17. Oh I do believe so because I am only PRN and the last person they hired never came back after the first night.. If I'm not comfortable with some thing I'm not going to do it.. I was lead to believe there was an aide and they informed me that I can orient as long as I need in that unit.. At the end of the day my licenses is on the line and I rather protect it now then be in court trying to defend myself.. I'm not trying to come off rude to management.. I do believe it is all how you word and say things to someone that can make your point come across and get things done.. i know how long term care is and I love my residents but safe is safe and at the end of the day.. I want to be safe to take care of them.. jasilady
  18. Just CNA and I am also a medically retired disabled Veteran.. So that always helps.. But no I went into the interview with confidence and they hired me.. jasilady
  19. So my first nursing job as a LVN.. On nights was crazy.. Started with only one Aide.. Then about two hours before my shift ends residents falls.. Haha but that's not the funny part.. Ha the faculty thinks that I'm going to take on about 50 to 60 resident at night by my self with no med aide or anything ha.. I knew the pay was a ploy!! But I will kindly be explaining that I need a nurse or an med aide this is for at least two people I love long term care but I don't like having my license on the line.. This soon or really EVER just thought I would share.. The crazy things is I'm going back because I do see potential and I think if I step up and say no then they will listen I have the upper hand I believe.. jasilady
  20. Bitter sweet I'm ready to get it over with.. Because I only have a year left.. But I'm Making such good money working as a LPN/LVN... jasilady
  21. Thanks I live in Austin Texas jasilady
  22. I am a new LPN no experience other than CNA and I'm in Austin tx and my starting pay is 23 nights at a LTC and Rehab center jasilady
  23. Yes there is always a way... Just remember to keep the faith.. God will clear paths... And good luck with everything... Is there any programs that can help waived or decrease the cost... And you are welcome jasilady
  24. So I just want to say god is so good.. Even when i am not worthy he blesses me.. He told me he would do exceeding and abundant things but never could I imagine in this magnitude.. So I took my Nclex-PN June 17 and I felt surely I failed I had 192 questions and that exam was by far the hardest thing I have ever done!! But I kept faith did the PV trick and got the good pop up... Still not entirely convinced I check the BON website everyday and tried To get my quick results.. The state I live in pretty much post your license number within days like one two at the most.. Well I continued to wait and I received a text from my friend saying congrats ms. Nurse haha.. That was June 19 So I look on the BON site and I had a license number.. So it was time for job searching I am home for the summer.. So I was debating on finding a job but I figure if I'm honest I can get a PRN spot.. So I applied to jobs Thursday 20 June Had my résumé and cover letter.. Friday 21 June morning I received a call Friday even went on an interview.. Got the job!! :) with a starting pay as 23 dollars.. :) all I can say is they never lied when they said the opportunities are endless for nurses.. jasilady
