I have finished all my pre req's, applied and have been accepted to start my ADN program technically Spring of 2016, but there are two pre req's that i can start next summer! I'm so excited!! I am 34 with five kids. By the time I start working I will be 38. I started my journey fall of 2009. You're never to old! I plan on bridging soon after, RN-BSN.

I think I want to be a hospice nurse, but I'd also like to work labor and delivery. Very familiar with that area after five kids:)

Get the ati book and get one of the practice tests from ati. I got my book for $20, amazon. Practice tests were $50 from ati website. Totally worth it.

We have NP 1, 2, 3 and 4. They run about 10 credits each semester. 2 pre req's before you get started are pharm and assessment. You can take pharm concurrently with np1.

I am 34. I have five kids. Finished all my pre req's last semester and was accepted, but wait listed for my ADN program. School was difficult and I barely made it into my program, like literally. My gpa is embarrassing. I am really nervous for when the time comes to start school. But not just for the program, mostly for my children. I literally don't trust anyone with them. I fear for their safety. So much that I get anxiety if I am away from them for a long period of time. That's normal right? ? Three of my kids are in school. My youngest will be two years old when I start nursing school. The only thing that could ruin me is if I don't feel like the kids are being taken care of properly! I could have done so much better in my prereqs, but I just wanted to do the bare minimum to get by and get in. My school recently switched over to a point system starting next semester. I do have a good support system. I have my mom to help. My husband works graveyard with overtime and will be of some help. I plan on having them juggle the kids during lecture and clinicals. I'll probably stick to a similar study schedule, studying at nights and while everyone is at school. I don't have a diploma or a GED. However I did recently graduate with my associates in math/science. I want to make decent money to help my husband support our family and do something fulfilling. He makes a decent paycheck by himself. We have insurance. But with five children...(actually six for him, he pays child support) well you can imagine. There's just not a lot of money left for fun, activities, vacations, etc...so I plan on hitting a home run in nursing school and giving it my all. I also plan on the RN-BSN afterwards, while I work. Good luck to us all! We can do it!

You're young and childless and I assume husbandless, take advantage of that! Two year associate program plus roughly 15 months for RN to BSN. Very cheap. But you still need to factor in prereqs. Versus four year university BSN or an accelerated two year BSN program that is more expensive, but you could work off student loans easily within a year if your still at mom and dads and working overtime. I'd find an accelerated BSN program after finishing the prereqs at a community college. Good luck:)!

I scored a 62 on practice test A and a 64 on practice test B, i scored higher of course when I took them the second time, same set of questions. I scored high on the actual test in all areas but science. I used the ATI study guide and a book called Ace the Teas. I have the Mcgraw Hill book everyone talks about, but i didn't use it. I took the ATI practice tests starting 2 days before my test date. Good luck. You'll almost if not, run out of time on the math.

I also almost cried too. After i almost passed out, lol. I was so stressed out over this test! I thought I did well, 90%+ on all sections except science. Science killed my score! I haven't a clue about life/earth science. But I'm just happy to have passed. I took Physio last summer. I took an eight week art class this semester and it ended already:) so I'm just going to relax and catch up on housework, naps, play some softball during the summer, and enjoy not hustling to get homework done! But then again it all depends on that letter! Maybe I can take 220 in the summer. My husband has a great job at the railroad, he's a diesal electrician. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if she sent out any letters:)I can't wait! I'm to anxious, lol. Yes, let me know when you get your letter! Ttyl. P

Hi lifeisgood76, I can't pm you because I don't have enough posts yet:( but I received your message! I am super excited, waiting for my letter also. I talked to someone who said a few slots were open for the fall, and then the rest will be delegated between spring and fall of 2015. I would love to start ASAP, but am fine with spring or fall. My youngest is 5 months right now. I had the same Physio teacher, when did you take it?

Good advice. I have 5 children (9,6,5,2,5 months) and don't start nursing school until next spring, but I am already after some been there n done that strategies and tips for organization, studying, daycare:( and anything else I can use to help me and my family along my journey. I wonder if it's too early to start freezing meals? Lol. I have a deep freezer in the garage. I'm already teaching the three oldest some chores. My youngest should be mostly weened by next spring. I'm mostly worried about childcare! My three oldest will all be in elementary, so I mainly have to worry about about the two babies. I'm hoping that, between my husband and my mom, the slack can be picked up while I am at clinicals or at school. I really loathe daycare and have heard some really bad stories. Everyone keeps insinuating that I am slightly crazy for taking on nursing school when I have so many kids. Hmm.

I am 34:) I had three children when I started my pre req's in fall of 2009, I now have five beautiful children, I went through all my science classes pregnant:) I was VERY preggo dissecting cats/frogs/animal parts... I even gave birth and went back to finish up the last 3 weeks of micro this last fall. It was rough, but I sucked it up and finished, I applied in March, just passed my TEAS last Thursday and have been accepted into my program of choice starting this fall! Yay for me! I'm so excited for my future, and I'm excited to help my husband support our large family:) I'm gonna rock nursing school like a boss! Good luck to you all.

Hi, I was lurking around:) and found you. I am also applying (in T minus 10 days) to the vvc nursing program. You seem so sure that you are getting in? I am under the assumption that I have a 50/50 chance. Are you moved to a spot on a wait list for a semester farther down the road if you are not immediately chosen?
