Hello everyone. I have several questions regarding the review of contract before signing. 1. Did you review your contract right before signing in the office or did you ask that the contract be sent to you or a copy be given to you so that you can review at home before signing? 2. Is it ok to ask for a copy and review the contract at home before signing it? 3. Did you ask another person, eg a colleague, lawyer etc., to look at the contract before signing? Is it really needed? 4. Do you have a no compete clause? How many miles and years? 5. What are the provisions in the contract that need to be reviewed thoroughly. Thank you. :)

I finished my bachelors from another country with average grades and had 2 years of experience as RN. I believe my strong essay and good recommendation letters (1 from my dean) got me into the NP program. Good luck.

I am in the same boat as you are. But for me it's a little bit different, I'm finding it difficult to find the right fit. It's very challenging to find the right fit. I don't want to sign a contract then leave after a year. I just signed a part-time (as independent contractor) for a podiatrist. Will visit nursing homes two to four times a month. This will keep me afloat for now, hopefully. Hang in there.

Did not do live exam. Passed AANP with Leik, Hollier, Fitzgerald. Started reviewing during the last semester.

This maybe another topic. Any info on working for the state, compared to the VA? (salary, benefits, etc.?) Thank you. :-)

Has anyone experience negotiating a contract verbally one day and then when it's time to sign the contract another day was presented with different terms (rate and benefits)?

I don't know if what I was wearing made a difference to the professors lol. In my opinion, excellence makes a difference to the professors and gets you noticed. Excellence gave me a feeling of confidence and professionalism. :) (I did get noticed a lot when I wore business casual once in a blue moon, like once every semester during the osce (lol) ).

Backpack - laptop, textbook sometimes, printed lecture notes, voice recorder, pens, bottled water, snacks, fruits Outfit - 1. shorts, flipflops, and t-shirt (fall); 2. jeans, flipflops, t-shirt; 3. jeans, running shoes, t-shirt; 4. leather shoes, slacks, collared shirt (mostly when I'm presenting a case study or report or in the clinic). (some of my classmates would wear shorts and flipflops too) I didn't really mind what I was wearing but I made sure I'm comfortable and my clothes are clean, well-ironed, and presentable. I guess I was too focused on learning and getting great grades that I really never thought about what I was wearing lol. :0

IrishIzRN No, the doctor does not do nursing duties. I did an initial interview and told the medical director that I will send an email coz I think I have additional questions before I sign the contract. I sent an email asking if I will be doing direct patient care as an RN (I was willing to do the job if the RN role will only be paperworks, CMRs chart audit etc. and not direct patient care as RN), specific time I will work as NP/RN, etc.. More than 2 weeks passed now but I did not get any reply even though I mentioned that I was really interested in the position. Also during the initial interview, the md spent more time informing me about the RN role. The offer was really good and I have been wondering if I should have just accepted the position without asking any questions since I really need to start working (just graduated this May and passed cert exam). I am also wondering if I passed up on a good opportunity. I hope and pray I'll come across the same offer. :) Right now I am shadowing for 2 part-time jobs with potential full-time employment in the future, plus another clinic seems interested in working with me. Thank you all for the replies and comments. They make me feel better. I guess I made the right decision. :)

Yes, they offered a NP job and also wanted me to do the role and job responsibilities of a RN in the clinic. The pay is that of a NP.

I'm being paid as a FNP even when I'm working as an RN. I had some questions for the medical director and still waiting for answers. Questions like will I work 2.5 days FNP and 2.5 days RN or FNP in am and RN pm, or will I be prn RN, etc. I asked my previous professor and told me that if I would work as a RN doing paperworks only, it would be ok. But, if I am going to work as RN with direct patient care (helping with procedures, etc.), there might be a problem. Any other thoughts are welcome. Thank you IrishIzRN.

If I were you, I would.

I think it doesn't matter. I did mine with AANP because it's the organization specific for nurse practitioners. The ANCC is under the ANA or a subsidiary of the ANA.
