  1. GrnTea. Props for being kind and compassionate to your patients and for going against the culture which can be REALLY hard, especially for a newer nurse. It's important for all nurses to realize that personal bias is not appropriate in professional relationships with patients.
  2. At the hospital I work at, I heard the resident speaking to his new team of interns a few days ago, and he said "I expect you to make mistakes, it is part of learning. The only thing that I absolutely insist on is knowing that you've made a mistake so we can fix it." I thought about this and it's a fundamental difference in how we train new nurses and how we train doctors. I think that with nursing mistakes/miscalculations/errors are not considered part of the learning process, but they are! So learn from your mistake. Your patient in the end was fine. Also! Change that user name!! ASAP. Don't identify yourself that way. Don't call this energy to yourself and your nursing career. Nursing is the hardest job you'll ever love.
  3. Congratulations on being smart and resourceful. You are going to be an excellent nurse w/that no problem is too great attitude, your patients are going to benefit greatly from it :loveya:

Thanks for the info. I'm looking into to travel nursing for the first time, and in STT, although I'd like to live on StJ. Any ideas about how feasible that would be? It seems like most travelers live on STT.
  5. Hi! I'm interested in traveling to St. Thomas. Keep us posted on how it goes. My boyfriend is totally in love St. John and is pushing hard for us to move there, but as much as I love a tropical lifestyle (I've lived in Costa Rica, Miami and California) and have visited the islands, I like my university medical center job. And I'm very nervous about the working conditions based on earlier posts. I would also be interested in hearing about your experience w/PNS as I'm researching travel companies now. Best, Jess
