Hey I just found out I passed too! 75Qs and almost an hour and half, I just wanted to chime in PVT worked for me and I also had a crazy # of SATA and a few put in order Qs. No math, no audio, no charts, no hot spots. Which for like the last 10 or so questions I was thinking where is my easy math question?? I thought everyone got one, guess not. Congrats!!! All the hard work in school paid off and now we have an RN behind our names

STLCC does pharmacology in every semester. During diabetes lectures you go over diabetes meds, cardiac you go over cardiac meds, during respiratory you go over respiratory meds, you get the picture. And every semester you learn more and more meds from clinical prep.

http://pr.mo.gov/boards/nursing/passrates.pdf pass rates for all schools in MO. I'd say go to any of the STLCC schools. But keep in mind Flovalley has the best pass rates out of STLCC so maybe give it a shot?

Hi B-emt, I just graduated from FloValley this May. I applied early in the summer and waited a year on the list. I worked part time throughout the program and passed. Most people had to quit their job half way through, a few friends had to move back in with their parents or had their spouses support them financially. Full time work is impossible. My schedule for 2nd semester was: Monday: 6-1130 work 12-3 class Tuesday: 6-1 work Wednesday: 8-10 practicum 11 checkout 1-3 class 3-? clinical prep Thursday: 7-4 clinical Friday 6-230 work Checkout is when your tested on your basic nursing skills like bedbaths, IVs, NG tubes. Practicum is the class where you learn those skills. Besides studying for the test you must go to the practicum room to practice your skills. Practicum and skill checkouts are only 1st and 2nd semester. My schedule for 4st semester was: Monday:9-12 class Tuesday:6-230 work 3-? clinical prep Wednesday:2-9 clinical Thursday:930-1230 work 1-3 class 4-9 clinical Friday: 7-12 work 12-3 class on select Fridays Now clinical prep is all semesters and will require you to go the hospital/facility you are doing clinicals at and look up info about your patient(s) then go home and do lots of research about their diagnosis, medications, and make a care plan for them about their individual needs. This is something some people will do till 6pm, 8pm, 4am, depends on the person... Like I said I went to Flovalley I've heard good things about all 3 locations. It's true that lots of people will have to re-take a semester (at any campus), the instructors expect it, they basically tell you at the beginning that this program is just that difficult. I preferred going to Flo because of it's hard reputation I wanted to be confident that when I took the NCLEX that I would pass. I also got an "in" for a job thanks to a instructor.

Agree with the people above human development was an "easy A", you will have to devote very little time to that class I am sure. The A&P 2 will take up your studying time, and personally I found A&P 2 to be easier than A&P 1. We had far less chapters covered in A&P 2, so you could check that out and see if your school is the same. Good luck!

Congratulations! from everyone I've talked to you will save yourself from pulling out your hair by doing all those sciences before and not during the nursing program. not that it can't be done, but you can put all your focus on your nursing classes. I am taking my last science class (microbiology) this summer and start nursing classes this fall. very excited and nervous

It is really scary to think that people have to move states away to get a job in nursing, the profession everyone tells us is so secure and in demand. Congrats on getting a job! I am sure now that you are getting experience it will be much easier next time around when you are applying.

Lots of books, 8 books and some online pack thing! At orientation they said the books and online pack will together cost $600, which I thought was outrageous, but WHOA nearly two thousand??!! I go to community college so I don't know if that makes a difference but damn that is a lot of money. I hope that some of the textbooks will last you more than just that first semester... And our program director said that it is the norm for nursing books to only used for 1-2 years then they are updated, causing nursing students to pay big bucks for new books.

NiceDay12: You are TOTALLY in for fall 2013!!!! There are 60 spots so there isn't no "if", congrats! Maybe I can message you on here after my 1st semester and let you know how it went and give you any inside info I may get to help you out! :)

I find it pretty easy to take other courses with Anatomy, Physiology, and Chemistry. (taking Microbiology in summer alone, only non- nursing class I have left) The trick is to not put these classes together and to take them with classes that require little homework and studying. I know people who have tried to take A&P with Microbiology and it did not turn out well.. For example this semester I have: English comp II (we have a paper due like once a month, mostly in class discussions), Human growth and development (online and get to do the weekly open book quizzes at my convenience and this class requires online discussions with articles from outside sources BUT I have never once had to study so it works), yoga (required PE credit), and A&P 2 (this I do study for!) This is 11 credit hours. I also have a 3 year old and work 32 hours/week. But I am making A's in all of them! I do not feel overwhelmed or stressed. You can do it!!

The waiting definitely sucks, but only 1 more semester to go! :w00t: And one more semester to save money hopefully. Just finished paying for my books, immunizations, and background checks. Still need to get scrubs, shoes, watch, lab kit, and health exam.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but, Meramec has already contacted everybody that is getting in for their program this fall.. I would call and see if you can get what number you are now that they have taken those people off the list. They take 40 at Meramec so if you have dropped some you might get in for next spring. From what I've been told by people and the counselors, from the time you put your name on the list it should take 3-4 semesters to get in. My number changed greatly each semester- don't lose hope! Have you taken all your prereqs?

Thanks, I put my name on the list June 2011, and My number was in the 200s, so I knew I wouldn't get in for Fall 2011. I was number 108 before they started filling spots for this fall, so to get the 60 positions filled a lot of people turned down their spots for various reasons like grades, other commitments, and attending other colleges. I would call Flo admissions dept and see what your updated number is. But if you were 160 before this march when they started then your number should be under 60. They only take students once a year in fall so Fall 2013 sounds like a sure bet!

If I am up studying and get drowsy, which a lot of us study till we are past that point I think, I make a fruit smoothie. The noise, cold, and sugar wakes me up.

Does anyone feel that if you say no to overtime enough times, that they will eventually stop calling? or is more of a you can count on them calling everyday your off no matter how many times you your employer you will not work that day? I am just curious, and am still in nursing school.

So update- I got in to Florissant Valley for fall 2012!! I am so excited! And really nervous, I work part time and am hoping I can continue to do that for fall and maybe spring too. I know that at STLCC you can in the summer sign up to do tech jobs at hospitals, does anyone know if they are paid?

Hey just wanted to add something- as far as Florissant valley goes- to get the 60 people they admit for the fall they go through about 105ish people. So if your waiting on that list and under 100 it is pretty likely that you will be accepted for this fall at Flo. I have to call and see where I am at Meramec and Forrest Park, not getting a response to emails. There is a nursing seminar/information thing at Meramec from 530-7 on March 27th if anyone is interested in going to that. So I also have a question to those who have been accepted to the nursing program at STLCC, when do they call you to let you know? Before Summer or after Summer?
