  1. I noticed there are many books called "_____ Made Incredibly Easy!" (you fill in the blank - like "Dosage Calculations" or "Pathophysiology," etc.) by Springhouse / Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. I would like to hear from anyone who has tried bo...
  2. ATI Appeal

I was just talking about this - my friend did. As for numbers and national statistics, I don't know.
  3. ATI Appeal

Well, not really. You have missed the point. She passed NCLEX because she was able to finish her nursing program, but she did not go through a program twice. She was simply able to finish somewhere else because she was kicked out after the 3rd se...
  4. nclex-rn passed thru self review

    Congratulations! Way to GO!!
  5. [Blank] Made Incredibly Easy! - book series

Thanks for the tip! I'll look for those
  6. ATI Appeal

Yep. A friend of mine didn't make the required score on her ATI tests, got kicked out and had to go through all this red tape and finally ended up in a bridge program that did not use ATI and when she finally got to take the NCLEX, she aced it - 75...
  7. ATI Appeal

    YES! EXACTLY! AMEN to that!!!!!
  8. ATI Appeal

Yes. You are correct - your comment doesn't HAVE to be constructive or helpful or anything - it can be just as condescending and judgmental and as stating-the-obvious and as unhelpful as you want it to be. However, just because something is a polic...
  9. ATI Appeal

Absolutely! A nursing school cannot and will not teach their students everything they are going to need to know as nurses. That's a given. The uncountable things nurses come to know over time come from too many sources to list. But, that is not t...
  10. ATI Appeal

    thank you for posting this!!
  11. ATI Appeal

EXACTLY! I'm not against ATI - I think their practice assessments and many things they offer are wonderful tools for nursing students. I don't disagree with nursing schools using ATI as a benchmarking tool to see where students are in their progr...
  12. ATI Appeal

You're totally missing my point .... Maybe I explained it better in my other post. Otherwise, nevermind.
  13. ATI Appeal

The problem is that a lot of times, the way some of these programs are run does not make any sense. Don't assume that someone who protests a way of doing things is not taking responsibility for themselves. I never failed an ATI test, myself - but...
  14. ATI Appeal

Your comment comes across as being condescending and snarky and not really constructive, well-meaning, or helpful at all. Just because a nursing school decides on a certain way of doing things does not make it right and does not even make it make ...
  15. ATI Appeal

I disagree. I know many people who went to schools that required ATI testing - they passed the cumulative ATI exam at the end, which supposedly proved they had a 90-something % chance of passing NCLEX, but they did not pass the NCLEX. I also know pe...
  16. To BSN or not to BSN

I would just go ahead and do the BSN program, if I were you.
  17. 9th Nursing Caption Contest - Win $100

What do you mean it's only her first day?
  18. So...I definitely just failed Med-Surg :(

I tend to do that too - I sometimes don't know where to stop, so I just study every little thing - and it ends up taking up too much time from my actual sit-down-and-study-and-absorb-it time. Keep your head up - you'll pass the class the next time a...
  19. So...I definitely just failed Med-Surg :(

So you are saying that you feel you had plenty of time in 5 weeks to learn everything you were supposed to learn, but that you did not learn anything in med-surg ... or enough to pass the class ... because you were bored?
  20. Be proactive in class - take notes, listen intently, get really interested in the subject matter, ask questions, contribute comments.
  21. So...I definitely just failed Med-Surg :(

To me, bottom line is that you just cannot learn - REALLY learn - 16 weeks of material in 5 weeks. I disagree with these kinds of curricula.
  22. FBI Fingerprinting Background Check

We did a background check and drug screening for my school's application, but since the FBI fingerprint check is required anyway for everyone in order to get their actual license, then our school did not bother doing it at this point.
  23. Book you can't live without.

What is the difference between THIS: Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN® Examination,5e (Saunders Comprehensive Review for Nclex-Rn): Linda Anne Silvestri: 9781437708257: Amazon.com: Books and THIS: Amazon.com: Saunders Q & A Review...
  24. Book you can't live without.

Davis Drug Guide, Most Definitely! I also still refer back to my A&P notes a lot - especially in my pathophysiology classes!! A&P will never leave you ... even when you start working as a nurse. Several of my nursing professors told me ...
  25. Advice for a pre nursing student?

I learned more in my A&P classes (they were 2 semesters long) than I learned in all of my other core classes, combined! Pay very close attention in this class - learn everything you can! Since being in nursing school, I can't tell you how many ...
