    Help with Assignment

i think there are enough information to start your assignement; any book of pharmacopoiea contains a list of substances or drugs with their dosis; the dosis depends on pathology and other aspects like weight and incompatibilities. could you give more information about the conditions on what the nurse provide "double" dosis?, there was understaffed when it happened? at any case, this is not a malpractice case; malpractice law is joined to injury and as long as you have written there was not the case, see any book about health malpractice topic.

What's your story? Why did you take up nursing?

I remember the 70ths year, all my mates from high school decide to study medecine; a graduated in medecine earned a very good salary, the problem was there was studying a lot of people; many cities had faculties, but worse it was the problem that the classrooms was completely full, even in the corridor was student taking paper notes; the teachers, well I rather do not tal about them, simple I would like to comment they look more a group of loosetongued than medical professionals. Classes looked very bored, so I decided a degree in nurse; nurse was more practical, at the end you always find a job. I understand to filipines phisicians, studying nurse to work in USA, more ever when a Philipine never can dream to live in his country like in America. Today I think I did the right decission, though many of my high school mated are working as phisicians today they needed to wait more time than me to work. Working in hospitals has been to me a good choice to know people and enjoy many time. Thinking on a professional way, i can to say that I have more knowledges than all phisicians because I stay at work many time and of course I have worked more time (many years) than them. In short, this is the good decision.

What punishment should this nurse get?

Sleeping is not at all a volunteer behaviour, many people can fall with not responsability. The best choice is this nurse not work in night shift; she can work other shifts; but I would first ask if this is just happened one time with that nurse?, if so, not problem, no body is perfect, she can work in the nights.

I am sure this is the best way; try to read on the lips and practice in a good enviroment. It is good to ask to people that speak slow; just to say please slow " por favor despacio".

I have seen your profile, you are graduated as bachelor, I do not think you will need more curriculum; a job is a job; to talk with the Consul can you be represented by other people (solicitor) and avoid not to miss a good opportunity?; Ireland is a pretty country, you can wait for the consul appointment doing other things; you must decide, you know better than anybody, what can be your possibilities, I am sure you will do a great career.:) :) :):) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) One choice can be very important in all life, even more than a good career. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

As long as spanish visa maybe dificult, one way is looking for a job or a carrier; though working as nurse suposse you must convalidate your carrier and there is one important problem you will need about two or three years to learn the language, do not worry, you speak english, there are many offers to work in the cost, moreover English language is very important in commerce and EDUCATION; in your case, I would firstly look for a contact with the embasy, on this way you can access to many information; after that I would go to many multinational firms, that is firms that work in USA and Spain, but always looking for a job with official contrat, and always contrasting your contract inmformation with the information you will recieve in the USA or Spanish embassy. It is what I think, of course you must contrast the information I have written with information in the embassy too, maybe I can be wrong. Kind regards.

    working in a spanish country

Yes, it is a country to take a holidays, many hotels, football, bulls, sun and big parties. It can not be worst for nurses, it is very hard today for us; I remember 20 years ago, when a nurse it was a "practicante" with a role, today nurses are lost very much; today there are nurse emigration, something that never hapened before. Politics talk about rich and poor regions but they forget professions as nurses where there are many female workers, I would really change this distinctions, by rich and poor profesions, people rich and poor.

EU citizens can travel and work in spain, they have the same rights to work as spanish by law, if you are Europen you will not need to change or get spanish identity; language it does not matter, I have had very good colleages from Germany and other countries, they learned spainsh very soon, in two or three years they spoke like me. Transfer is authomatic beteween EU country members most of the time. Wages: a nurse in emergency units public hospital can result about 20.000 Euros (40% Phisician salary) but working in the night and wekends. I do not know what other nurses from diferent countries must do to work here, if you are very interested I would help you and I looked for. I have colleages from Latin America too and they worked very good too. I like to add that many spanish nurses here are unemployed, there are contracts for two or three days; there are not posiilities to change career, even if you finish other studies you will need pass a hard paper test and three or five years working as residents. Meanwhile we import other categories we can even not do a aspirin prescription (it is ilegal); but in any case I will give you a hands if any one need me.

Interesting URLs: enfermundi.com inem.com Enfermundi is the Spanish Nursing Asociation URL and inem is the Spanish Employement Oficial Centre. But we have not specialties like anaesthesia and others, Goverment has made some promises but I have some douts. There are not a ratio law for patients/nurses or beds/nurses. There are just two nurse specialties: Mental health. Obstetrics. Thats all what I have. I think the language is not the problem. We speak four oficials languages (I speak spanish and Gallician), moreover English and French are very talked; from 90s we have recieved people from all over the world, people who thought it is the heaven and now many of them are living on tents and other have returned. If you think to work as football player or a killer bulls and you can do, you will be very welcome; to work as nurse is very different, it is very hard, no a ratio nurse/patient law, no a good oportunity to progress, you are just a nurse. Many Spanish nurses go to other countries to work.

we can not decide many times, we must follow the order. almost time the orders. this is not my view, it is just the law point and i am just one looking the best for all; as you said "nurses and physicians have lost their licenses to practice over these" mi best wishes for you

    We have this med order

What is illegal in USA is illegal in Spanish Kingdon most of the time, thought not always, even the Constitution; you will know meds and resources are created in USA, after that these resources are copied (imported). The instructions are in English language, good books are in english, to be a good profesional is good to learn English. Really USA is today the driver that actually move the world. What is not copied doesn´t work here, yes I have seen it; a professional with not English literaty is not a professional. I work in a spanish hospital as nurse and I study IT in a British University from internet, I consult pubmed, I read law news ..., as you can figure and guess we are not many differents, perhaps we are just equall
