  1. Hey guys, my NPI instructed our class to bring an object that represents Nursing... it cannot be something very obvious (stethoscope, text books, bandages, etc), any suggestions? Thanks!
  2. Retake classes or take additional classes to raise your cumulative GPA. I would imagine the nursing program you want to apply for would at have a set requirement GPA of 3.0+. Nevertheless, don't give up if this is what you really want to do as a career!
  3. Congrats! Good luck on your NCLEX!
  4. I don't tell my grades to anyone.. just the "I did okay". Telling your grades, whether they are excellent or terrible can bring unnecessary drama or resentment from your classmates... especially if you're in a really really competitive program.
  5. Been looking for a good quality stethoscope... looks like Littmann brand is the way to go.
  6. I suggest you look into mediation. Yeah I know it kind of sounds like some hippy/monk nonsense. but there is a good reason why mediation has been around for thousands of years. I suffer from anxiety at times, and nothing has helped more than mediation.. take about 20 minutes out of your day, lay or sit down, close your eyes and breath in and out slowly... clear your mind and just relax. It'll be difficult at first, but my gosh has it made me more calm and focused than before.
  7. I also start spring!!! Congrats to everyone!!
  8. Wearing scrubs at the gym would be nastyyy... especially if you get a good quality work out, imagine the sweat that soaks through your scrubs... not that appealing for the chicks eh?
  9. Congrats!! But... the stress is about to begin x100000000000... sorry to say!! LOL!
  10. Weird that you guys have a separate course for Microbiology. In Canada, at my University they combine Micro with A&P I and A&P II... Congrats whoever got a A!! You guys are one step closer in process of getting into NS!!
  11. I also second that you shouldn't take any science courses together in one term.. especially if they require labs. Anything like English or Psychology would be good.. technically you can call Psychology a 'science' course, but personally I found that Psych was a refreshing break from the redundant general science courses.
  12. I was rejected once from admission... absolutely crushed me mentally. However, I didn't see myself doing anything else career wise.. so I manned up... spend some $ on courses, improved my grades and got in the second time. Don't give up.. if I can do it, you can too. You just have to find the motivation within you... a self fulfilment in which goes deeper than just "I'm going to nursing school just for $ and job security".. but for a strong inner passion for helping people and human body. That is what got me over the hump.
  13. Your priority should be getting the highest pre-req grades you can possibly get. Nursing school admission ain't no joke. A couple B's can hinder your chances getting into a program... which can set you back a few months or even a year before you can re-apply. If I were you I would wait till the new semester ends before doing the CNA course. That can wait... unless you REALLY need the finances to support your family.
  14. 3 months? It took my cousins 8-10 months to find a job... and it was a 'casual' position. I'm a Nursing student, so finding employment after I graduate some times crosses my mind. I noticed though, if you look through the forums here it's pretty common for a new graduate to have some difficulty finding a job right away depending where you live... but eventually those people will land a job in no time. It's the matter of applying everywhere... and being patient.
