before entering i had some motivation to be a RN. i thought my motivation would increase once im in the program but it was the opposite. i was constantly discouraged from my teachers and my performance in lab. after the first day at the hospital, it completely spiked after seeing how appreciative the patients were that i helped them. if i just keep that in mind, i think i can succeed.

Wow having a BSN is a major plus in my area. Thats all employers want in my area -__-, RNs with BNS. Theyre rejecting those with an associates. I dont think you should have a problem, just apply everywhere.

Its ok if you enter the program late. I felt the same way before, i had to retake anatomy due to taking other hard classes and felt like i could have gotten in alot soon. I entered the program at 22 and most of my classmates are older. Most are in their high 20's, mid age, or are parents with full grown children.

Thats how alot of nurses were at the floor i was in. Only like a third of them came out to us and ask for help, while the rest just did their own thing.

I had my first day at the hospital on moday at med surg also. Our teacher wants us to start off doing basic stuff to get comfortable doing it so we can become more efficient at it and ease new stuff in there as we go along. Were starting just doing vitals, assessment, bedbath/linen change, and charting.

wow theyre pretty forgiving at my college, compared to what you guys are posting up. Passing rate here is 70%

Have you applied to community colleges also? My community college requirements werent as strict and only required a 3.0 gpa.

its nice to know that male nurses are not looked down upon in the field by their co-workers. I thought it was going to be the opposite. Not too interested in the dating aspect, considering ive had a gf for 4 years and shes in the program as well

Out of the 6 guys in our class, only one of them is gay. I never even heard of that stereotype before in nursing.

Our instructors tell us to only work 20 hours max while in the program. It does get overwhelming later in the semester with all the workload, plus reading, plus studying. Most people in my class work and are doing fine so far. I would advise the work mainly weekends

most of the women in our class are midage, and the guys in the class are in their 20s. i think its better to start dating once you got your career going.

im 22 and this is my first semester. the other guys in my class are in their 20s also
