  1. Can you work anywhere as a telephonic nurse or do you have to be home? I am looking for something where I can work if I am out of town visiting family.
  2. The first place I will look into will be a hospital close to a campground. Not sure I want to hook up on the hospital property. Would like to live in a campground.
  3. I am going to get my bike motorized.
  4. I have never thought of that.
  5. I am seriously thinking about doing some travel nurse assignments. I am single, I have a Class C motor home with no tow vehicle. I also will be bringing my 2 dogs. My issue is no transportation once I am camped. I was thinking about using UBER to get to and from work and then get an electric bike to travel around the area that I will be in. Does anyone else here travel this way? I really don't want to get a camper to tow and I really don't want to tow a vehicle either.
  6. ok, that's what I figured. Thank you so much.
  7. The reason why I am asking is because I have come across two nurses that have tested positive for marijuana when the medicine involved was Percocet. There is a specific test for Percocet I wonder why they were tested for marijuana?
  8. so only testing me for Dilaudid and that's all?
  9. I stupidly forgot to scan a patient that I gave IV Dilaudid to. The other day I had to do a urine test. I see on the Labcorp form, under "test(s) requested by employer" the only thing checked is Dilaudid/Morp/COD/Hydrocodone/Vicodin. Does this mean they are only going to test for those drugs? They don't test for anything else like marijuana? Seems there are now different lab test forms for specific drugs to test.
  10. I have it on Wednesday. I'm just struggling with this and my current job that I have. I am an agency nurse working PRN with so much flexibility and ability to take time off whenever I want. I am a bit torn. Thank you so much for your input. It's really helpful.
  11. I assume your 50% of travel is to physicians offices? Is it pretty much a Monday - Friday job? Working 8 to 10 hours? Do you have a minimum number of providers your have to visit in one week, one day? Is it tough getting into their office to discuss this with them? Thank you so much for your input.
  12. I'm going for my 2nd interview as a Quality Improvement Nurse for Humana. If anyone currently holds that position and has held in the past, I would love to hear your input and opinion.
  13. I was told pay is low to mid 60's.
  14. I just got a call regarding this same position. I am wondering how it is working out for you?
  15. What exactly does a core measure abstractor do? Trying to find a job working from home as a core measure abstractor and they are asking me what experience I have. Thanks
  16. What is a core measure abstractor? What exactly do they do? I am a RN and I know what core measures are but I am not clear on what a core measure abstractor is. Thank you
  17. Do these sound like good NANDA diagnosis? I am working with a family who's daughter is addicted to percocet. She has 2 young kids and wants nothing to do with them. :=( sad Impaired parenting r/t percocet addiction aeb lack of attachment with her children. Dysfunctional family processes related to alcohol and pill addiction aeb father’s drinking and daughters addiction to Percocet.
  18. I took a pre employment test and they asked questions like why give aspirin on the first sign of chest pain, also asked about BP drugs that decrease your BP and effects on HR, what drugs need a 2nd RN to cosign (insulin, hanging blood...), they were pretty basic and most places if you fail the test, they let you retake the same one.
  19. I left a hospital that I truly enjoyed working at but hated the drive. So from 30 minutes each way, I now go 8 minutes each. However, the hospital that I left, is so much nicer, cleaner and I miss it and truly regret leaving. I did leave them with 2 weeks and said it was the drive. The manager seemed disappointed. After one month, I now want to ask for my old job back. How do I write in an email? Or should I just pretty much say what I just wrote? Thanks
  20. Not sure about the hiring of new grads on the Treasure Coast but I just moved here in August 2012 and got offered 3 jobs. Lawnwood Medical Center, Jupiter Medical Center and Martin Memorial. I have been a RN with ASN for 2 1/2 year. I am currently working on my BSN. Good luck to you. I love it here!!
  21. What would you do if your patient was diaphoretic, unconscious, and blood sugar of 30? Would you first inject dextrose? thanks
  22. sure thing....it's not until mid June.
  23. I will be interviewing with VNA in a few weeks. They stated that I was going to be taking a critical thinking test. Any tips on what to study for or a book I can get to help study from? I have never been a HH nurse. I have been a RN for two years working in a hospital, primarily on an ortho/surgical floor. Thanks
  24. I have an interview in a few weeks with a home health agency. They stated that I will be taking a critical thinking test (no math or meds). Can any of you recommend a book or even post anything you think might be on this test that I should be prepared for? Thank you very much.
