  1. I had a lap chole one yr ago this month. One of the best things that ever happened to me. The surgery went fine, had some SVT in the PACU, but that was some reaction I had to the anesthesia. I stayed overnight because my surgery was late in the afternoon. I only took about 6 of my prescribed pain pills. Aside from general soreness in my abdomen, I felt great. I did stay out of work for 5 shifts (which was 2 weeks), just because of the demands of our profession. After all its not like we sit at a desk all day. The MD was concerned about me lifting patients, repositioning, etc. I just took it easy, and it was a piece of cake. GOOD LUCK !! ~ashley
  2. *furr furr.... tisk tisk* Looks to me someone is a little bit steamed. LOL. Personally, I consider myself a "new grad" being a RN for just over 1 year now. I found it very humerous... somethings gotta make us laugh. THANKS !! ~ashley
  3. CROCS.... yeaaaa for CROCS !!!
  4. WELL WELL WELL... did we all not take the same NCLEX exam ??? Just wondering... a nurse is a nurse. Personally I graduated with my ADN, and now working on my MSN. There should be no shame on folks that graduated with their diploma, BSN, or otherwise. Whatever path you took... we have all ended up at the same place..... RN's. Yes, I do agree that for many mgt. postions they prefer BSN or higher... to eachs own.
  5. I have several... but I will keep it short. 1. when you get report and the pt. is A&O x 3... they get to the room and they have no clue where they are, who they are, and are trying to climb out of bed. Come on folks... give me an HONEST report, I am taking this pt. assignement regardless of their mental status. 2. when the off going shift tells me what a terrible/busy night I am going to have. keep that to yourself, I may have a wonderful night. Leave, go home, and I will see you in the AM. 3. when staff members hide VS machines b/c they have an admission coming in 2 hours and I have one NOW. ashley
  6. I have this happen to me often, many of the times it is the cath lab. They call in the middle of report, knowing good and well what time it is. They often times get rude and will call back as soon you ask if you may return their call. After you get report you find out the paitent still has the sheath in place, when it could have been removed 30 minutes ago. GRRRRRR... but they were too busy trying to call you report. ANYWAY...now that I have "vented"... maybe it wont happen to me next week. LOL
  7. When I was in nursing school, we had to do a background check. It was quite extensive, I believe that this should help prepare you for the hurdles you may have to cross w/ your states BON. Good thinking ahead... get a tackle on the situation early. I know of one particular case in my class, the girl had 1 or 2 DWIs and everything turned out fine. She did have to show a lot of documentation though. GOOD LUCK !! ashley, RN
  8. congrats !!!!!!i wish you the best in your nicu career. god bless you all who choose that specialty. good luck !! ashley, rn
  9. let me start off my saying congratulations !!!! i know your feeling exactly, i was in your shoes about 2 months ago. i had all 265 questions and was a horrible wreck until i found out that i had passed. i think that since our test is "cat" and can determine if we have answered in a proficient manner, then why in the world does it take so long for us to get results ?!?!?!?!!?!? anyway.... dont let me get on my soap box. ashley,rn :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
  10. MUCH LUCK R.J. !!!!!!!!!!! In NC its only 45 days. Good luck to you. ashley, rn
  11. congrats !!!! :balloons: ashley,rn
  12. GREETINGS !!! I am not sure how CA BON works, but here in NC we could call a special phone number to get our results (pass or fail). But, the catch is, it did not tell you if you had failed, it simply said something to the fact of, cannot locate in system. The NC BON online was not at all quick. I had my actual license before my name showed up online. But I think it was a little over one week before I got my results in the mail. It was 6 days before I heard anything. AGONIZING !!!!!! I can feel your pain and anguish. HANG IN THERE !!! ashley,rn
  13. BEST WISHES !!!! Going to pamper yourself the day before is an excellent idea. When I took my boards, a group of us took them together. We hung out together the day before and had a "slumber party" that night. We watched comedy movies and laughed more than we ever have. My friend and I were up looking for her ATT at 2am the morning of the NCLEX. GOOD TIMES!!!! Just relax, like u said. HAVE FUN !!! Oh, and from personal experience I would eat breakfast the morning of. I was a little sick on the stomach. GOOD LUCK !!! ashley,rn
  14. KEEP you hopes and dreams alive. MANY people dont pass the first time. I happened to be blesses with passing (w/ 265). My best friend did not. She is taking it again in two days. I WILL BE PRAYING for each one of you that has to take the DREADED NCLEX over again. PLEASE, dont give up. ashley,rn
  15. Personally, I know for a fact that I got the last question correct. I still think that whole idea of if you get the last question right you pass, is SHADY. A few of my friends that also had 265 questions, knew that they got the last one wrong, so use your judgement. I wish you the very best, and try no to stress to much this weekend. ashley
  16. If it offers you any comfort, I took boards about 3 weeks ago. I also had 265 questions. I PASSED !!!!! I have tried to offer other "words of wisdom" on other peoples post, so I will tell you the same thing. TRY, TRY, TRY to keep your mind off of it. Do something fun this weekend. GOOD LUCK and I will be thinking of you all !! ashley
  17. I have some words of encouragement (hopefully). I am a RN, only have been one for 2 weeks. I too had all 265 gut-wrenching questions. I PASSED !!! My best friend also had 265 questions, she also PASSED. We both walked out of there knowing that we had failed. We were preparing ourselves to retake again in 45 days. That was the worst day of my entire life (good thing we never have to take it again). PLEASE.... take my word for it, try to do something fun to get your mind off of the test. I was with my family the entire weekend. I kept so busy, I barely had any "personal" time. That was the only way I could get thru the 5 days of anguish. Keep us posted and I know your feeling. ~ashley, RN :chuckle try to laugh and smile, think good thoughts
  18. congrats !!!!! christy, rn :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: :balloons: good luck in your nursing career, the sky is our limit. ~ashley, rn
  19. congrats !!!!ashley :balloons: :balloons: :balloons:
  20. BEST WISHES to you !!! I feel your pain. I just passed boards 2 days ago and never in my life been so relieved. I had 265 questions and KNEW I would be taking that *#$& thing in 45 days. I have not heard of anyone that has failed with 75 questions. Keep your head up and think positive thoughts, I am sure you did fine (thats therapeutic, right?? lol). Try to stay busy and do something fun. Keep us posted. ashley :)
  21. I just wanted to let you and everyone else know that is waiting for results, I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!! I was in your shoes 2 days ago, and found out I passed. I was in a little different situation though, I had ALL 265 questions thrown at me. What an experience, definitely one I will NEVER forget. The next few days will be tough, try to do something fun, with friends or family. Anything to distract you. Best Wishes & let us know. Ashley :)
  22. i passed !!! this day couldnt get any better. ashley, rn :balloons: :flowersfo
