  1. Thanks a lot for a such useful information. It pretty much answer my questions.
  2. Hi everyone, I am preparing to choose a school for the RN-BSN-MSN program. There are schools that are either approved by NLN,AACN, CCNE or NLNAC. Which associations' approval is the most important? Does it reflect the quality of the program and my ability to get accepted into a MSN program? I am from overseas and now work as an RN. I hope to enter an Informatic Nursing Masters program someday. I'd greatly appreciate any input or advice. Rachel

Thanks for your responses. I am from Taiwan but now also a US Citizen. I have 5 years working experience in Asia plus three years as a nurse tech here in Texas. I just recently got my RN license and now work at a surgical hospital. I plan on moving to N.California in march and I am interested in travel nursing since they pay for living and relocation expenses. But my biggest concern is getting enough orientation time. I wonder if I'd be better off getting a permanent job in a hospital. Thanks again for your feedback. Raejune

Hi, I am very new in US. What exactly does " per diem" mean? And what is the difference between working per diem and working through an agency? Thanks for the help!

Hi, I am living in Texas and plan on moving to Northern California next March. I'd like to be a travel nurse so that my travel expenses and housing will be paid for; meanwhile, I can also sample hospitals before I choose a permanent one. Does anyone have experience using travel nurse agencies? Any recommendations on specific agencies, general advice, warnings? Do the hospitals offer orientation periods? Is travel nursing as good as it appears to be? I would greatlly appreciate your input! Rachel:nurse:
  7. Hi, I am a foreigner nurse living in Austin. I have 5 years R.N experience overseas. Right now, I am studying for the NCLEX and also work as a CNA. I plan on taking the exam in May but before that I would like to find an internship in the hospital. I think it can help me to gain more knowledge for my NCLEX studying. Is there anyone knows which hospitals might offer an internship position to a foreigner nurse (who will soon be a U.S. citizen) in Austin? Thanks for your help! RJ

Thanks for all of your responses. I heard it's not that easy to transfer your ATT to the other state and it will take a while to get it done. I might just stay with my California ATT and I hope I can pass the first time. I plan to take the test around May. Wish me luck!!! :) R.J.

Thanks for your quick response!! :) I just checked California Board of Registered Nursing's website, it still indicates that it requires 91 days preiod to take the test again, not over 4 times a year. I wonder if it has been changed or if it's still the same (90 days)? I found the information from http://www.rn.ca.gov/lic/pdf/reapply_app_2003.pdf Does anyone know the most updated information? Thanks! R.J.
  10. Hi, I have a California ATT. If I fail the NCLEX the first time, do I have to wait for another 3 months before I can take the exam again? I heard that there are some states where you only have to wait for 45 days before you can take the test again. Does anyone know which states? And how do I transfer my ATT to another state? Thanks for your help advance!! R.J.
