Choosing the best prep for ER
Hi all ! I am a new graduate and have taken a passed my boards :) I have just interviewed with an excellent hospital and was offered both of the positions that I interviewed with. My ultimate goal is to work in the Emergency Department and I am having difficulty deciding which position to accept that will BEST prepare me for the Emergency room. In the job description for the ER at this hospital it states 2 years of med/surg nursing.... which of these positions would better prepare me ??? Thank you in advance for your responses--- they are much appreciated :) Have a great day ! position #1= Medicine Unit; typical patients include general medicine, multi-medical diagnosis, diabetic, cardiac, psych, etc. This is a very busy 30 bed unit that is 99% -100% full! position #2= Surgical unit; typical patients include transplant of liver, kidney, bowel. some oncological surgical patients. and traumas from the ER (ie: MVAs, dismemberments, surgical patients from traumas) This is a very busy 30 bed unit that is 99%-100% full!

265 questions...awaiting results nervously!
I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GOING THROUGH! I hope you read my post "Had 265 .. I passed!" Just a few days a ago I was going through the same thing. Do not believe what you have heard. THE NUMBER OF QUESTIONS DOES NOT MATTER. THe fact of it is you will just not know until pearson tells you. Unfortunately, that is the case and I can completely empathize with you... waiting is the worst. Keep your chin up high and a smile on that face. I am sure you did GREAT!! It sounds like you prepared a lot for it and that is a good sign. If you felt "dumbfounded" while taking the exam re: the number of questions you got and the difficult content, that is actually a GOOD thing because that means you were being given and were answering questions above competancy line :) GOOD LUCK!! Keep us all posted. You are in my thoughts and prayers!

HAD 265!:( and i PASSED!!!!!!!
Hello all ! This is an update to a previous thread "took NCLEX-RN today(265)...losing hope... etc." and I just found out today that I PASSED!!!!! I am a Registered Nurse !!! OR as my mom says a REAL NURSE :) :) Regardless of the fact that I passed, I want to thank all of you that lent me your words of wisdom. These past two days have been very emotional.... very frustrating... and have plain stunk! Looking at all of the nice things you all wrote gave me the smile I needed to get me through the day and I know that if I hadn'f of passed they would have given me the encouragement to keep going and try again. To those of you that are taking the exam soon or have taken the exam... WAITING IS THE WORST THING! Have faith and listen to those around you. The people on this site are amazing. Good luck to everyone and thanks again!

New Format Questions
As far as the "check all that apply questions" go... I took the exam 2-14 and only had one of those and one or two fill in the blank. I did not have any "point and shoot" location questions. I was really nervous about those too.... I went over the alternate question types quiz on the kaplan review and that was scary... but just keep reviewing them and hopefully you wont get too many. Good luck!

NCLEX-RN Today(265)...Losing hope..Last question
Hello all- First I want to say hi, because this is my first time using the forum. I have read a lot of your postings and I want to congratulate those that have passed! I am in desperate need of some guidance. I took the NCLEX-RN today and *know* I failed. I had 265 questions. I keep hearing of people who passed but then I keep hearing of more people who have failed with 265 questions. I felt stupid the entire time! I couldn't breathe and was so nervous when I just kept seeing those numbers go up that I am sure that i didn't concentrate as well as I should have. I have been sick all day and in the fetal position. I can't think... sleep... or even function I do not remember the last question I had and I can't remember whether I got it right or wrong. Is the success of a 265 question exam REALLY based on only the last question???? Please help... 265/pass or 265/fail... or just anyone willing to help out. Thanks and Happy Valentine's day!
