  1. I agree that she went completely overboard in her reaction to the situation. This situation may very well cause her problems with other coworkers.
  2. Here is the sad part. If you had done this, you would have been immediately fired. Administration knows you would have just gone away. You wouldn't have filed for unemployment, filed a lawsuit etc......... It is about time we as nurses band together and come as a group to support each other.
  3. The key word here is teamwork and perhaps the aides need to think about that.:angryfire
  4. Why is it that nurses are expected to do the aides job and also her own? I do not mind helping the aide, but many times this puts me behind as they cannot do my work. They see no problem asking the nurse for help when their coworker is sitting down and mind you not on break.:angryfire While there are many wonderful aides I have worked with, there are also many with attitudes, lazy and alot of trouble makers. I now expect the aide to work just as hard as I do and will not help when they are sitting and I am working.:angryfire They (aide) seems to forget we are there to take care of the patient.
  5. I am sure he would appreciate any help you could give. Call your BON and ask for advice. Bless you for wanting to help.
  6. While I understand and agree that inservices are a vital part of nursing, I don't understand why inservices are not scheduled on 2 different days and at 3 different times. Perhaps administration needs to act like responsible adults when scheduling inservices.
  7. I personally would be very thankful to have you working with me. I also would be off my butt helping you.
  8. congrads to you.
  9. I cannot even imagine the unbearable pain you are going thru. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your husband and your family.
  10. I totally agree with you.
  11. It is beyond me that some nurses think it is okay to shop online, pay bills and so on while at work. Patients have rights and one of them is to have attentive nurses. The employer has hired you to be there for the patient. I am as you can tell totally against nurses use the computer for personal use while at work and report it when seen. :angryfire
  12. Amen as there is no need to continue this.:rotfl:
  13. Way to go. Congrads to you and best wishes.
  14. Congrads to you. Welcome to the nursing world.
  15. I agree with your post. I understood it to be sarcastic towards management.
  16. p>I agree.
  17. I am totally against CMA's passing any meds in anyplace but a private home. In a private home a nurse is not responsible for the (CMA's) actions. Only a licensed nurse should pass meds in a hospital, Long Term Care or assisted living facility. You need more than a pharmacology class to understand the different dx. and how a pt. is affected. This is truly scary and I would never work in a facility that does this. This is clearly lining the corporations pockets without regard to pt. safety. We as nurses need to speak up as this is our license that will be affected.
  18. I totally agree with you.
  19. Come on Marie why are you being so harsh? Your not perfect. You can't honestly say you have never made a mistake.
  20. We are talking about a good nurse. Everyone and I mean everyone has made a mistake. All the high and mighty need to take notice. No one is perfect not even the ones that think they are.
  21. Weights weekly/monthly need to be done by the same STNA's and preferably at the same time of day. Many facilities have the restorative team do them as it has shown to be the most accurate. Skin checks can be done on shower days.
  22. You are there to learn not to be terrorized. Take the proper steps and report her.
  23. LEL replied to nurseangel78's topic in General Nursing
She cannot give out other employee phone numbers at will. You are not responsible to replace anyone.
  24. I truly wish you the best. As you can see by the posts, nurses tend to eat their young. There is not one nurse here who has not done something they truly regret doing. Hopefully they learned from it, as you have
