  1. Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone is doing home health travel nursing in Florida?
  2. Which agency do u work for? Certainly does not seem right, not ur fault they dont have the units during the week for u!

I am pay per visit, am i reading this correctly, is it a federal regualtion to pay for travel time????
  4. I didnt know what the tube actually looked like either, so i googled it thank goodness for google!
  5. I have had pts with the pleurex cath in for a longggggggg time, the dr has removed the sutures tho, as the cath has that end that it cant come out.
  6. Considering relocating to the gulf coast if florida, looking like 45 min either side of tampa. anyone do HH in that general area? Any advise? thanks!!
  7. I am interested also, the class is never offered locally for me either, but can u tell me how u found the local testing center?
  8. Ok, what am i doing wrong,,,,,,drawing labs off of a picc line, the same as i always have, but recently i have been getting called fprom the lab with the dreaded "spec has hemolized" , i get the spec to the lab within 30 min so i know its not that, the flow sometimes is slow, other than that i follow the proper procedure...any tips???
  9. I have been in HH 28 yrs, and my simple ans to this question is NO! If u cover all the bases this job is basically never ending, you r either finishing up today or preparing for tomorrow. I literally have about 2 hrs of free time a day, HH has evolved so much over the yrs that it no longer lime it was, i nonestly sont see now any one with young children that require attention or rides here and there can do it. Bless each and everyone of us!
  10. SOC date can not change unless the pt has been discharged. The date u get orders for your recert is the verbal order date, not a new SOC date, If this is new, which i doubt, we have not been doing it I have been in HH FOR 28 yrs and soc date is soc date period.

Date of last visit is last week, date of discharge is the date u do the oasis, visit findings are based on the last vist
  12. I did 2 soc today, spent about 1 hr 15 min in the home, 1 hr 30 min on documentation and 30-40 min of travel, so usually 3 to 3.5 hrs per soc
  13. Medicare requires taht a visit is a minimum of 30 min...if u are making 15 min visists u need to relook at that patient and question urself why u r seeing them! Perhaps discharge is in order. 15 min visits in r agency would not be tolerated.
  14. We are still,on a paper system, that being said , not including any travel time, it takes me 2.5 to 3 hrs to complete a SOC. and i have been doing this for more yrs than i choose to remember. Lol. Now i do. NOt get back very much for corrections
  15. HH is hard,,hard enough that to start out being PRN and no exp, is not a good mix. Working it full time it will take u about 6 months to say...i think i understand it. I would not advise PRN for someone with no HH exp
  16. That is a very hard way to start HH u will,be doing mostly admissions, u have to have a very good understanding of the OASIS process, there is minimal supports available on the weekends unless ur office is open and running. What kind of orientation wil you have? There is sooooo much to learn i. HH, it takes a good 6 months to feel comfortable. U might want to think about a mpn-fri position first. Best of luck
  17. The PT is the skill, medicare guidelines state thatbu can do lab work as long as there is a skill service being provided., the one rime visit or complete eval would be up to the agency. But it can be done.
  18. You should still, call the MD, you would let him/her know what is going on, that u want the pt to go to the hospital but family wanting to wait, etc.... I have actually had the MD office get on the phone and tell them the exact thing i just did and they agree to fo. But regardless, you need to call the MD.
  19. Additional questions is the only difference
  20. They r also looking to see if every med is on the list, so if ur pt is taking it write it on their list, creams powders etc. remember to include OTC like vitamins. MOM I have been put with many auditors so i know how u feel. Also ,ake sure u are wearing your ID badge
  21. Make sure. U clean ur hands before going into your bag, when u take ur items out of your bag place them on the clean side of ur barrier when done place the, on the opposite side, so put ur bag in the middle of ur barrier, one side clean one side dirty. Clean your hands in between glove changes.
  22. Also remember HIPAA, to keep charts locked in your trunk
  23. Remember infection control and bag technique,if you have home folders make sure that is up to date, that patient has your 24 hr office number
  24. Good call, i thought A-fib at 100 beats could only be picked up on EKG, but glad u did what u did.
  25. I actually think it is a good idea to continue to see a pt 1w3-4 after wounds healed just to make sure it stays that way and. Family/staff continuing to follow plan. Just my opinion
